It really does go fast once you're in double figures!

MuddlingThroughLife · 26/09/2017 07:43

Thank you all for asking after ds Flowers

Long story short (don't want to bring the thread down!) But ds was diagnosed with a high risk brain tumour in January. He's had surgery to remove it (which has left him with left sided weakness), high dose radiotherapy, high dose chemo and stem cell transplant x5. So far so good. Awaiting end of treatment MRI on 6th October..... 🤞 He's still being tube fed at the moment as he's still eating very little, but he's doing ok and is even going to school for one hour every Friday afternoon at the moment while we wait for his medical statement to come through x 🎗

HairsprayBabe · 26/09/2017 08:15

Muddling That is so tough Sad Flowers

FridgeCut · 26/09/2017 08:17

Muddling don't worry about bringing the thread down, sounds like it has been a very tough day. Not long to wait for that MRI now, lots of support here.

MuddlingThroughLife · 26/09/2017 09:09

Thank you guys x 🎗

FireflyGirl · 26/09/2017 10:49

Gosh, that's a hell of a year you've had, Muddling. Flowers for you, and Cake for your DS. Fingers crossed for next Friday.

And how scary is it that next week is October...

SideOrderofSprouts · 26/09/2017 11:13

Oh gosh muddling what a year Flowers I hope your DS is better for Christmas.

HairsprayBabe · 26/09/2017 14:08

Is anyone else on here just keen for celebrations in general? I am really looking forward to halloween, and we have even been considering doing a thanksgiving potluck with friends just because we like an excuse to get together!

Another slight downer, my brother just had a seizure in the factory he works in, he is only just started as an apprentice and is really worried about his job Sad

HairsprayBabe · 26/09/2017 14:10

oooh that milk jug fridge!!!

sunseptember · 26/09/2017 14:13

love the count down cushion thats brilliant

MyPatronusIsABadger · 26/09/2017 14:15

Oh Muddling, lots of love to you and your family.x

Hairspray your poor brother. I really hope his work don't try to get rid of him. Fingers crossed he gets assessed and gets help. I love the idea of a thanksgiving. We used to live abroad and do one every year, although at the weekend instead of a Thursday.

Fridgecut - you've distracted me (and now look what you've done....I've added things to my basket!) its....all....so.....pretty!

Equimum · 26/09/2017 14:36

Gosh Muddling, what a tough year! I hope things improve for you all very soon.

I have just been and relieved Smyths of a significant proportion of it's stock. My main purchases included a Micro sprite scooter for DS1s birthday, Lego & a couple of Switch & Go dinosaurs. I know it's not always the best deals, but I bought new mode S&g, which are still largely full price everywhere, and the scooters are never very well reduced. Made it all come to as close to £200 as I could, so quite a haul for £161. And best of all, my DM is buying half of it.

MuddlingThroughLife · 26/09/2017 14:50

Thank you everyone, you're all very kind x

Hope your brother is ok hairspray.

FireflyGirl · 26/09/2017 15:15

I hope your brother is okay, Hairspray.

His work should arrange a meeting with their HR department to discuss if it will be a problem.

Fridgecut if you bought all of those, I think you may be my actual, real life hero...

cookiefiend · 26/09/2017 16:50

@MuddlingThroughLife sorry you have had such a hard year. I hope these threads provide you with a few moments of escapism. Fingers crossed for DS's scan.

Loving the other lawyers who love Christmas here. My colleagues think I'm nuts if I mention it.

@HairsprayBabe Hope your brother is ok- what a stress.

QuimJongUn · 26/09/2017 17:55

Muddling much, much love to you. I'm keeping everything crossed that all is well with the MRI and that your lovely DS continues to go from strength to strength 💐

Hairspray is your brother in a union? He has rights, even as a new apprentice. I do hope he's OK 💐

Me, DD and DH have all come down with what we thought was a cold but seems rapidly to be turning into flu. Ironically I was due to get my flu jab tomorrow! If I carry on like this I'll be lucky to get to the sofa in the morning let alone the doctor's 😁

M&S have all their Christmas cakes in... I'm not buying though until they go on offer, which they usually have by now - they're sometimes half price. I also fell in love with a dress while I was in there - I know M&S is a bit frowned upon here clothes-wise, but this dress is a cornucopia of baroque brocade beautifulness in red and gold and would be perfect for Christmas Day/outings. I'm holding off buying it though because a) it's £69 and with things the way they are that's a little extravagant (maybe it'll be reduced before Christmas) and b) I'm still losing weight (down from a 24 at Easter to a 16 now) so I'm not even sure what size I'll need come December. But I love it so much! There's even matching shoes and bags...

CbeebiesAddict · 26/09/2017 18:04

Ooh like the scandi stuff in Asda :)

FridgeCut · 26/09/2017 18:15

@Fireflygirl - I did buy all of that, and christmas pyjamas for the boys and a christmas shirt for (not an angel) gabriel. Can't wait for it to arrive and to hide it all :)

FireflyGirl · 26/09/2017 19:53

I'm watching Martha Stewart again to de-stress, and she's just announced she's cooking 5 ducks to feed 8 people. I just rewound it, as I thought I must have misheard. Nope. 5 ducks for 8 people! I over cater like a good 'un, but that would be excessive even for me!

All hail Fridge Grin

That is a quandary, Quim. Have they started their Christmas returns policy? Could you buy it now and take it back nearer the time if you need to? I don't clothes shop at M&S because I never see anything I like.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/09/2017 20:38

5 ducks?!?! Wow. I know ducks don't have a huge amount of meat in them, but that's utterly bonkers!

I'm not looking at Asda Scandi stuff...I have enough decorations now!

HandbagCrazy · 26/09/2017 21:09

Muddling Good Luck for your sons MRI. What a brave chap he sounds 💐

Fridge I am Envy(jealous) of your butter dish and milk jug!!

Hairspray I hope your brother is ok!
And I am absolutely not stealing your thanksgiving theme get together idea
