Christmas duvet covers

Why have I never realised this was a thing before?! One of my favourite things in the world is getting into fresh sheets so the thought of getting into fresh new sheets with a Christmas theme on Christmas Eve has made me very happy!

Ds won't be out of his cot yet but will be on the look out for some toddler bed ones for next year. Will also have a newborn but probably won't do anything unless I spy a nice festive blanket.

I thought this might be a good place to post links to nice sets we see, both for adults and kids.

can you imagine the abuse I'd get if I accidentally posted this elsewhere!

I'll be watching this thread, I have a red and white brushed cotton set that needs replaced this year but I'd like something a bit more subtle, maybe in white. It is nice to have festive bedding 🤶🎄🎁

Llamacorn · 28/08/2017 09:36

I love the ones from Asda, lovely designs and very affordable. I'm currently waiting for them to start selling them this year as we have all moved our rooms about now and different sizes beds so I'll need 4/5 sets 😃

Previously I've got a lovely tartan brushed cotton set from m&s, great quality but a tad expensive. Primark get some lovely ones in too, but mine haven't lasted more than a year or 2 as they don't wash the best. Next ones are ok, quality not as good as m&s but some nice designs.
Matalan have some nice ones (there's a couple on their website now) which look lovely but I haven't tried them so can't say what the quality is like.

I've definitely seen toddler Xmas bedding (perhaps Asda?) There's some on Tesco website here perhaps not the nicest design, but to give you an idea. M&S do a nice grey star toddler duvet cover, which you could use all year round, but would look super cute with one of the kids Xmas blankets from Asda - they're pretty cheap Grin

LexyD1986 · 28/08/2017 09:37

I got mine on eBay they do from toddler - king size, not all styles have all sizes tho so you do have to search through. Matalan do them as well but not sure if they do a toddler size

Payfrozen · 28/08/2017 09:46

on Christmas Eve has made me very happy!

Good plan except for this^^

Our festive bedding comes out on December 1st along with advent calendars, Christmas Crafts, story books (same ones every year) etc. More time to enjoy Grin

BiddyPop · 28/08/2017 11:18

DD has a fleece blanket which is a printed panel with Santa flying in his sleigh to snuggle under all of December until we pack up on 6th January. (That came from a quilting shop in Canada though and I sewed up the edges).

We also have a festive duvet set for her bed, which comes out on 1st December as well, and I intend giving a wash in time to be back on the bed for Christmas Eve. We got ours in Dunnes Stores, but Penneys (or Primark in UK) have a good selection too.

DH would shoot me if I put festive sheets on our bed - but I am on the lookout for something seasonal and grownup (although with a superking duvet, that is not easy and will be €€€!).

PotteringAlong · 28/08/2017 11:23

I got mine from Amazon last year. Only for the children though - some for me is this years search Grin

minilifecrisis · 28/08/2017 12:09

We have had some matalan ones in the past, they were good quality and definitely better than the Asda ones.

I am after one for my bed this year Blush

MagnumAddict · 28/08/2017 12:49

I feel like I am among friends Grin

Some great suggestions, thanks! payfrozen you have given me food for thought re 1st Dec vs Christmas Eve!

I really really want some but finding Christmas bedding at a reasonable price for a superking bed is very hard! Most stop at a king size so if anyone sees any, please give me a shout!
I have my fingers crossed for Asda/George coming up trumps

christmasunicorn · 28/08/2017 13:00

Oh and I plan to put ours on on Thursday 21st as it's the first day of the school holidays. However I will probably put it on in November because I'm like that Wink

NoWordForFluffy · 28/08/2017 13:01

I got this Catherine Lansfield one in grey / white from eBay.

sunshinesupermum · 28/08/2017 13:04

The hottest Bank Holiday, it's not even September and there is a thread about Christmas? Seriously?

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 28/08/2017 13:05

We have a lovely brushed cotton reversible tartan set we got in Asda last year. I think it was only £12.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/08/2017 13:09

@sunshinesupermum, maybe check where you're posting before you make snidey comments. You're in the Christmas section of Mumsnet. We discuss Christmas all year.

Plus, it's chucking down in Scotland (and it's not a bank holiday) so your comment really doesn't apply up here.

MagnumAddict · 28/08/2017 13:25

There's always one! Some people could use a bit of extra festive cheer Grin

Anyway.... theresnowordforfluffy that set is lovely, great price AND goes with the colour scheme in my bedroom. I'm now thinking that could be my earlier December set then I could get another slightly more OTT set for Christmas Eve

OP posts:
mammmamia · 28/08/2017 13:33

I got some in poundstretcher a couple of years ago.
Gosh OP don't wait until Christmas Eve! What a waste. Use it from early December and feel festive all month long

Annwithnoe · 28/08/2017 14:01

I have the same red tartan m&s ones OP Xmas Smile They've spoiled me for other Christmas bedding. I'm hoping they bring out another design in similar quality this year (or drop the price on the current stuff)

NoWordForFluffy · 28/08/2017 14:17

I bought 2 sets, MagnumAddict, both the same, and will put them on the bed from the last weekend in November. This allows me to have one one the bed and one in the wash at all times!

The kids have more gaudy colourful ones for their beds. 🎅 Xmas Grin

BiddyPop · 28/08/2017 14:20

Supersunshinemum it's dull and grey and a working day here.

But more importantly, it's the Christmas Board, where we are allowed (and encouraged) to talk about Christmas and its magic all year long!! Xmas Grin

PumpkinSpiceEverything · 28/08/2017 14:30

Asda usually do a cracking line of cheap but really cute Christmas bedding starting in October-ish. Looking forward to it this year as I'm a total Christmas junkie and my house looks like Merry-fucking-christmasland

haggisaggis · 28/08/2017 14:36

For our Superking bed I just use the usual white bedding but bring out a festive throw for the bottom of the bed together with matching cushions. Could not find actual festive bedding that size anywhere except John Lewis and it was too expensive.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/08/2017 14:39

I did it for the first time last year for our bed. Gutted I didn't realise it was a thing when the kids were small.

Ttbb · 28/08/2017 15:23

Since when was this a thing?

NoHaudinMaWheest · 28/08/2017 16:27

www.houseofbath.co.uk/shop/suzannah-duvet-cover-set/cn479/product/details/show.action?pdBoUid=6194#colour:,size:S%20KING
I got this one for our bed. It is on sale at the moment superking price about £21.

MagnumAddict · 28/08/2017 16:36

Not sure Ttbb but I for one feel like I have missing out!

Bought the eBay suggestion from earlier so I'll put that one on the week before Christmas Eve for sure.

Not wanting to turn this into a 'how often do you wash you bed covers thread' cos that's not very festive! But due to allergies I find it best for me to do once a week at a minimum which is why I wasn't going to do it until Christmas Eve. I have a feeling the alternative is I'm going to end up with a few sets instead. Inevitable with all these good suggestions!
