There's so many of these fancy advent calendars around , I keep seeing new ones pop up every day!

Can we have a round up of the best ones / most usual ones etc please - and any experiences you may have on them?!

Tonight I've seen a reeses peanut butter cup one that sounds like heaven to me!

Make up ones are good at superdrug and price from tween age up to adult

Playmobil are always worth it

tootsieglitterballs · 26/08/2017 06:38

This one looks great for any Thomas fans!

£30 though , from Asda.

They are all super expensive, but seem so fun for little ones!

This is ours - made by my own fair hand!
Last year it just had chocolate in it, this year I'm planning to have festive activities on slips of paper as per the Christmas traditions thread.

@ShoeJunkie next year I'm going to do my own - I envisage some days chocs, some days treats and other days activities / outings (collecting pine cones , visit santa etc)

I really wanted to do it this year , but DS2 is due end of November , so I'll likely be in labour / in hospital or attached to a drip of coffee unable to function properly at the beginning of December this year!!

I agree! They've become a thing. A £1er from poundies may no longer suffice!

Dd has had a charm bracelet one from Argos- charm a day

Also a Christmas eraser one and a beauty one.

I've bought in Jan sales so the ones above have cost £8 or under.

This year I fancy the Kellogg's one for the dc

In the past I've treated myself to a candle one ( Yankee do them but mine was party lights) Not sure I can stretch to a gin or prosecco one!!

jelly10 · 26/08/2017 07:16

@ShoeJunkie that is lovely! We have an advent calendar you fill yourself and I love the idea of putting activities or things in - I'm struggling a bit to think of enough though. Have you got any ideas you could share?

tootsieglitterballs · 26/08/2017 07:38

I love this one from the biscuiteers - I adore their biscuits!

Got pork scratchings one last year but they were too hard for my dad and he ended up throwing out to the birds!

Brittbugs80 · 26/08/2017 08:53

DS has had the Lego Star Wars one for the past two years but he is a serious Lego but and has requested a special shelf to store his beloved mini figures on!

I like the traditional ones where it's just a window with a picture behind. Emma Bridgewater did one last year.

I'd like to get DH a whiskey one but not sure how good they are.

FairfaxAikman · 26/08/2017 09:05

My favourite ever one is from a local small chocolatier.

It's nothing fancy to look at, just small squares in a box, but it's all high-end bean to bar or hand flavoured (elderflower and white chocolate is one) stuff - including my favourite highly expensive Papua New Guinea chocolate.

tootsieglitterballs · 26/08/2017 10:05

I'd like a 'post pregnancy' advent calendar, containing all the things I have missed during pregnancy...

Mini bottle of all my favourite tipples, lovely cheeses and continental meats! Maybe I'll get hubby on the case!

I get DH a Lego Star Wars one every year. In the past he has got me the Yankee one but this year I'd like the Hotel Chocolat one with 2 chocolates so we can have one each.

ShoeJunkie · 27/08/2017 14:06

@jelly10 - I'm planning to steal ideas from the 'magic makers' thread on here! It's really the first year DS1 has been big enough to appreciate it.

MyPatronusIsABadger · 27/08/2017 15:11

Oh no Unicorn, I've just ordered DH a pork scratching one, I hope it's not too hard for him.

I've also got us both the marshmallow one too. DH is getting chemo at the minute and I wanted him to have the best of both worlds.

I got him the radio one last year but he lost interest in it!

anyoldname76 · 27/08/2017 15:18

i normally just get the £1 character ones from pound land but i really like the idea of an activity one

Hedgyhoggy · 27/08/2017 17:30

Matalan have a Paws Patrol and a couple of cosmetic advent calendars that aren't too expensive,£10. Not for sale yet but you can enter you email to get a notification as to when they are.

2014newme · 27/08/2017 17:34

I bought clarinet £100 last year and would not recommend it

2014newme · 27/08/2017 17:34

Clarins not clarinet! Avoid it!

DandelionAndBedrock · 27/08/2017 18:09

In my fantasy Christmas world, DP surprises me with the Liberty advent calendar on the 1st December.

I bought myself a Tanya Burr one when it was on offer as a cheap way of buying a few minis of frivolous festive make up (seems so wasteful buying a whole eyeliner or something for 2 parties). It was fine, but I was disappointed by the quality.

Best chocolate ones we have had are the Lindt ones, but am going to try and find an independent chocolate shop doing their own this year.

Hotel chocolat are good

badbadhusky · 27/08/2017 18:21

Niedegger (sp?) chocolate marzipan ones are the bomb - although not for anyone who dislikes marzipan, obvs. TK Maxx sometimes get them in at good prices. I bought one a few years ago that had two individually wrapped marzipans in each day and a lovely piggy on Xmas eve. It was so heavy it made my arm ache carrying it home from the shops. Happy memories!

Annwithnoe · 28/08/2017 06:59

We had a Lego, a Lego Star Wars and a scleich fairies one in our house.

The DSs are Lego mad and were perfectly satisfied though I thought there were some very stingy days

The schleich one was very disappointing especially as I didn't spot I had to pay a kings ransom for delivery when I ordered it on Amazon and DD looked a bit disappointed most mornings, particularly with her brothers whooping in delight at their finds.

I didn't get a l'occitaine one last year but was very jealous reading all the posts about them on these boards last year.

I have a Yankee tealight one stashed away for this year.

Soubriquet · 28/08/2017 07:25

Place marking

Want to get something different for the kids this year

Hoping to get a cars one for ds...don't know what for Dd yet. I've seen the tsum tsum one but I'm not paying £55!
