There's so many of these fancy advent calendars around , I keep seeing new ones pop up every day!

Can we have a round up of the best ones / most usual ones etc please - and any experiences you may have on them?!

Tonight I've seen a reeses peanut butter cup one that sounds like heaven to me!

A couple of years ago, I made my Mum one. I used the advent gift bags from Ikea and filled them up with toiletries - many of which were sample sizes, so it worked out to be reasonably cheap.

I8toys · 04/09/2017 16:59

Thanks Unicorn just ordered one!! Excited! Already got a benefit one and will get the M&S one!

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 06/09/2017 15:25

Just taken delivery of DS's Thomas Minis calendar - I have never been this organised before, or spent so much on an advent calendar, but I know he will adore it.

Of course I will also buy a nice Christmassy paper one for me to enjoy looking at.

Gizlotsmum · 06/09/2017 15:43

Ooh I am considering one of those instead of lego this year.

Gizlotsmum · 06/09/2017 15:48

Oh the tinc one has sold out.. do you think they will restock

chicaguapa · 07/09/2017 18:05

I was in Costco today and didn't see any Tsum Tsum calendars. They did have this gorgeous William Morris advent calendar though. Unfortunately I can't remember how much it was. Blush

christmasunicorn · 08/09/2017 19:44

My ds's happyland calendar arrived today! I'm so excited! I only ordered it for the gingerbread man Blush I'm going to have to order him some happyland sets now

christmasunicorn · 08/09/2017 22:29

treatbox treatbox is a monthly subscription box but they have just opened orders for an advent calender. This is the first one they have done. The monthly box contains things like prints, bath bombs, jewellery dishes, sweets, bags, lunchbags, dream catches, wax melts, jewellery....,,.. all kinds of things and apparently the advent calendar will be along the same lines.

Purdyandwheezy · 09/09/2017 06:43

I really want the playmobil farm one for DS but I'm torn between getting it now in case it sells out and waiting for a possible discount code!

Mothervulva · 09/09/2017 08:17

Just bought the happyland one for DD2!

How much are the L'Occitane ones?

SideOrderofSprouts · 09/09/2017 18:24

Last year I bought advent calendars at half price
On the 21st of
September on superdrug

yellowsun · 10/09/2017 17:45

Is there normally a kinder egg/kinder advent calendar? I showed DS the Smiggle one today and he said he'd prefer a chocolate one, a kinder egg one if possible

tootsieglitterballs · 10/09/2017 18:03

@yellowsun I'd love a kinder egg one... I've become addicted to kinder since being pregnant this time

I've got a Playmobil (fire fighter) calendar for DS this year. He's obsessed with the emergency services. I'd like a Yankee one, but baulk at paying the price they ask so will see if I can get a decent priced one in the sale for next year. I think it'll be a Lindt one for me again, this year.

profpoopsnagle · 10/09/2017 19:12

Years ago, I found a kinder egg one in France but have never seen one over here.

I made DH a beer one- used our 24 wine rack, bought 24 bottles of beer over a few weeks, placed in rack with numbered gift tags and voila. Worked out about 1/3rd cheaper than similar shop ones, even with a few pricier ones added in.

Bubble04 · 10/09/2017 19:29

I bought an undecorated wooden house shaped one from hobbycraft 2 years ago. We got paint, glitter and xmas themed tape, and decorated it together as a family. Every year we fill it with our favourite treats. I love it, and it only cost me £20 all in

Gizlotsmum · 10/09/2017 20:36

Gone for smiggle and hot wheels ...

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/09/2017 21:02

DD has asked for a Gruffalo (Thortnons) one again this year (she's 15yo)

DS hasn't made any vague mutterings (nearly 18) but I'm sure he'll oblige in scoffing one.

I'm doing a Beauty advent for DD , I've looked at the proprietory Advents online but she likes 'high end' make-up and has quite sensitive/dry skin (as well as Cruelty Free being a huge factor).
So rather than buy something she won't use more than 50% of , I'm buying some little gift bags and I'll leave that days gift on her desk or door handle.

Now searching for nice little , functional bits about £3-£5 ish .
Bodyshop will be my first port of call, Superdrug own brand, M&S

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/09/2017 21:12

Her make-up likes are Urban Decay, KatVonD and TooFaced which are £££ so 'Proper Present' territory Xmas Grin

MrsK · 10/09/2017 22:45

70, I've just bought my DD the Naked "heat" palette for her birthday. Her tastes are rather high end too, I've got a Huda palette in Rose Gold & Zoeva brush set in my basket on Cult Beauty. Those items might have to wait for Christmas though

ShowOfHands · 11/09/2017 07:27

I bought a Smiggle one for DD last year. Never, ever again. Day 1 and day 24 items were broken on opening, several other items broke within minutes of opening and the quality was v poor.

I've bought 6yo ds a Mega Bloks Ninja Turtle one and dd a novelty eraser one.

Gizlotsmum · 11/09/2017 07:33

The items included this year look quite hard to break but we will see!

MusicToMyEars800 · 11/09/2017 11:39

I had The Body Shop advent calendar last year, I loved it!! Grin
It was good value for money too, the products inside came to £100 but the calendar itself was £60.

JDSTER · 11/09/2017 18:49

I also had smiggle one last year. A bit variable in terms of quality. I've gone for a Tinc one this year, another stationary one with good reviews.
