What do you want for Christmas?

Morning,

I have a lot of family who live a fair distance away, and a husband who doesn't like to think about presents too much, so I'm always asked to put together a list of ideas. Plus my birthday is right before Christmas. I've thought of a few things for this year - a particular Morton Brown hand cream, a couple of books, but now I'm stuck.

What are you asking for?

Most important of all I'd like for DS to be given the all clear and for the three kids to then have an amazing Christmas.

I've told dh I'd like a new dressing gown and trainers and I always have books on my wishlist, you can never have too many books!

FlorisApple · 14/08/2017 10:50

A fitbit
An overlocker
Nice stitch markers and a yarn bowl, or any nice yarn, but people are not really confident buying it.
Decent quality pjs or lounge gear.

PJBanana · 14/08/2017 11:25

@Argeles Flowers

Fingers crossed for your DS Muddling.

Me and DP are planning to do some travelling next year so I don't really want 'stuff' (apart from chocolate). Might ask for a backpack.

stumblymonkeyagain · 14/08/2017 11:36

I always get asked for a Christmas List for my DM and PILs so I've actually started keeping a list of things I spot/think about through the year so I'm prepared!

This year:

  • Vouchers for the White Company or M&S for some nice new bedding
  • Cheese knives (we don't have any)
  • Bedspread I've seen in John Lewis
  • Sheridan's (liqueur)
  • Dinner for two somewhere naice (via Red Letter Experience website)
  • PJs
  • Vouchers for clothes from Mint Velvet/Phase Eight
  • Chocolate Orange and/or marzipan fruits
  • Nice shower stuff, anything with foxes or cats on, smelly candles (standing list items!)
  • Vouchers for Jamie's Italian (my fave chain restaurant, I'm obsessed with their arancini)
stumblymonkeyagain · 14/08/2017 11:38

@FlorisApple

You NEED an overlocker...I bought a Singer one on a special Lidl deal last year. Finally did a workshop on using it a couple of weeks ago and I think it might change my life as I basically live in jersey. Embarking on my first overlocker project (jersey wrap dress) next weekend!

ineedamoreadultieradult · 14/08/2017 11:39

What I really want is a stand up paddle board, when people ask I will probably say some new PJ's.

gingerbreadmam · 14/08/2017 11:56

money to buy a new lovely kingsize pocket sprung memory topped bed that doesn't smell of mould Grin

fingers crossed!

Vbizzle87 · 14/08/2017 17:00

Last year dp bought me a membership to the local garden centre! I think it cost £10! (We buy token gifts ) and I get X2 free hot drinks in the fancy cafe a month, a free lunch and 10% off everything! Was so nice and different to receive

tigercub50 · 14/08/2017 17:25

Haven't really thought about it but definitely my fav Champneys & Sanctuary shower stuff. I usually treat myself with Advantage card points but would love a proper big gift set. Posh box of chocolates ( no sharing!). An amber & silver ring. We will be in our new house so some things for that. I was supposed to have a falconry experience for my 50th but it turned out to be organised by a fraudster so maybe I will get another voucher 🙂My birthday is near to Christmas so I sometimes find it difficult to think of things.

BornInALighthouse · 14/08/2017 18:50

A drill and some cucumbery perfume.

tigercub50 · 14/08/2017 18:56

Lol at BorninaLighthouse!

MuddlingThroughLife · 14/08/2017 20:12

Thank you @PJBanana

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 14/08/2017 20:13

Garden centre vouchers (I hate myself) and some trainers.

BrassMonk · 14/08/2017 20:15

@Oddish
Have a look at the contigo cups. You can get them on Amazon. I use one for work every morning and usually resort to taking the lid off to get it cold enough to drink before lunch!

Trudee · 14/08/2017 20:56

I second Contigo travel mugs. I got one a couple of years back, then dh wanted one, then dfil saw dh's and wanted one too lol. Keep hot for ages and don't leak Smile
As for what I want for Xmas - no idea but will keep an eye on this thread for ideas

FlorisApple · 14/08/2017 22:03

Thanks Stumblymonkey! Yep, I live in jersey too, but my ancient machine (that I got when I was 18) has decided it hates anything that stretches. Good luck with the wrap dress!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 15/08/2017 21:32

Nice shower gel, new sunglasses, lovely pj's, some space nk vouchers, nice gin.

Actually if anyone can recommend nice shower gel or where to get lovely pj's from that would be great!

gingerbreadmam · 15/08/2017 22:05

i always like next and m&s pjs. Debenhams do gorgeous ted baker ones and the white company ones are nice too.

i actually really rate jack wills pyjamas.

gingerbreadmam · 15/08/2017 22:05

love the white company shower gel as well.

MSLehrerin · 15/08/2017 22:15

I'll second how fab Contigo travel mugs are. Mine is fab - I fill it at about half past seven and it's still piping hot by lunchtime. It's leak proof too unless you don't screw the top on properly and it goes all over the inside of your handbag

Equimum · 15/08/2017 23:10

Pyjamas
Set of crochet hooks
Voucher for local pottery cafe

ridingsixwhitehorses · 15/08/2017 23:31

I would like to throw away all my saucepans and replace with really good ones - but that would cost about £250 for the ones I want, maybe more.

Also I am becoming more appreciative of posh bubble bath the older I get.

christmasunicorn · 16/08/2017 10:30

I always get my pjs from boden or primark. I love boden as they are 100% cotton and have pockets in the trousers. Primark are great because they are cheap and have unicorns on.
