Can't start dealing with it until term starts but I do already have the table cover, napkins and crackers stashed.

Mine are grown up now and it's more to do with transporting elderly rellies and catering. I usually start on presents after October pay day.

HairsprayBabe · 21/08/2017 08:59

Smelled of Autumn here this morning,
Plus yankee candle have a new range of Autumn scents out that I may have indulged in on Friday!

SideOrderofSprouts · 21/08/2017 09:01

Morning all yawns

I can't wait for dark evenings where it's dark
By 6 pm and cold crisp days

Tomorrow is going to be 29oc here. This is my
Personal
Hell.

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/08/2017 09:07

I've got Bananagrams in my Amazon basket. There was a family playing it on holiday recently and I thought it looks like fun. Hopefully it will be better received than Scrabble - nobody will play that with me Xmas Sad

Currently waiting for my op. Should be going down after 10:30.

Scrappy I plan to buy my fruit on Friday of this week and start soaking it and then bake the cakes on 25th September - thereby giving me tasks for the next two Rudolf Days Xmas Grin

CbeebiesAddict · 21/08/2017 09:08

Good luck with the op woolly!

ScrappyMalloy · 21/08/2017 09:13

Good luck Woolly - hope you are feeling better soon

ConstantlyCooking · 21/08/2017 09:15

Banagrams is great woolly.we bought it two years ago after playing at a friends. It is easier to transport than scrabble - you just need a large playing surface!

NoWordForFluffy · 21/08/2017 11:07

Hope the op went well, Woolly! 💐

SideOrderofSprouts · 21/08/2017 11:11

Good luck woolly!

christmasunicorn · 21/08/2017 11:28

Good luck wolly Flowers bananagrams is a great game. Especially good for self catering holidays where you can't take too much luggage. We always pack bananagrams, uno, sushi go and story cubes when we go away

Minster2012 · 21/08/2017 11:38

Good luck woolly!
It's boiling here today but I've just got another haul of blackberries so still feel autumnal.
I've found a game called "Sussex lifeology" on amazon which sounds good to get everyone talking round the table so I might do a couple of "fun" games & that as my folks will probably prefer that.
I hope to buy some oranges & start my dried fruit mission soon for garlands seeing DH says we can't have a new tree or decorations having spent all our money this year on building dream house. (He doesn't agree it needs 'dream christmas' to then too it off) he raises fair point we are somewhat budgetally challenged as a result of dream house Confused

Minster2012 · 21/08/2017 11:38

Not Sussex lifeology, sussed lifeology
Stupid phone

NoWordForFluffy · 21/08/2017 11:58

Minster, you are DNBU with regards wanting a dream Christmas in your new house. You should LTB without a doubt!

Xmas Grin
FireflyGirl · 21/08/2017 12:09

Minster I wondered if you lived in Sussex, so it was a regional game Grin

That looks a good one, though. Slightly less risqué than Cards Against Humanity, at any rate...

As for your dream Christmas, you are not going to find anyone on here who will agree with your DH! But maybe home made decorations could be the best compromise. And a few of those ceiling decorations we mentioned earlier. And some tinsel... Xmas Wink

ScrappyMalloy · 21/08/2017 12:22

I would definitely buy a Sussex game - you got my hopes up!

The Christmas cake fruit is now currantly (see what I did there?) sitting in its bath of brandy, waiting for the big bake up tomorrow. Smells heavenly already 😆

Wheelycote · 21/08/2017 12:26

Good luck Woolly!! Not that you need it. Hope it's nothing too serious!!xxx

Lego advent calendars are released on iwoot on first of september

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/08/2017 12:56

All done. Bit numb but otherwise grand. Thanks for all the good wishes.

Minster self build dream house sounds idyllic. Dream Christmas next year - and we'll help you plan it. We're selfless like that Grin

FireflyGirl · 21/08/2017 13:05

Glad to hear everything has gone well, Woolly Flowers

christmasunicorn · 21/08/2017 13:08

Aw I want a dream Christmas in a dream self build house. I am deeply jealous.
I'm sure we can help with a budget dream Christmas.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/08/2017 13:26

Good news, Woolly. Are you home later?

Are you in KGH? Or did you cross the border to LRI?

Minster2012 · 21/08/2017 13:27

Ha, no not Sussex! Sorry for getting hopes up Scrappy! I hoped to have convince DH in Jan that we needed to buy ALL cox & cox xmas reduced stuff for dream 1st 🎄But unfortunately was told in no uncertain terms that being in pokey 1 bedroom flat up 3 flights of stairs WITH NO LIFT with NO ROOM FOR POSSESSIONS LET ALONE NEW STUFF before house was finished did not warrant buying lovely xmas things in sale that would then need to be transported again ☹️🙈

I'm now retaliating by filling lovely new built in storage with xmas gifts inspired by this & bargain thread & threatening to christen log burner (despite 25 degree heat & v hot house!)

We WILL have homemade garlands off beams though,

Annwithnoe · 21/08/2017 13:38

minster our first couple of christmases were on a budget so I made do with pine cones, holly boughs and scraps of fir and now I'd never go back. the house smells so lovely and looks amazing. Each year we go foraging for decorations. The kids make millions of paper snowflakes for the windows. I've made red gingham and hessian bunting out of scraps and old shopping bags. I get big bags of oranges in aldi and buy cloves in an Asian market to make dried slices and whole pomanders. Many of my favourite Christmas traditions started out because my budget was tight.

Minster2012 · 21/08/2017 14:30

Annwithnoe that's what I'm planning! In my 1st xmas with DH I made homemade mini bunting for our first tree (fibre optic, still same tree now ☹️) and pine cones with glue gunned string on and ivy strings & it looked lovely in our country rustic style house so I'm going for a bigger version of that now we actually have barn house to put it in! Picked up some pine cones this morning on dog walk, pinterested garlands
Have no DC else that would be lovely, DDOGs don't really appreciate all that, just try & steal /eat pine cones!! Your crafting sounds like so much fun, very jealous of family Christmas fun
Am thinking ivy winding through stair case, fir wreaths, all sorts (unfortunately I'm not very creative but WILL learn!!)

FridgeCut · 21/08/2017 15:02

I've just ordered some card games to take to france with us on sunday, I am hoping my 4 year old will pick up some and we can have some nice evenings over christmas playing cards with him.

I've ordered
Uno junior
Jumbalup
Go Fish
Snap / Pairs / Happy Families
And two packs of cards

I am hoping they won't be too tricky and they will be played for years to come (in various tents and caravans...)
