Wow, prequel is all filled up and it's not even august!

So I will start a new op at some point but since it's only July and things will be slower the links will portably be out of date by the time the next thread starts so I'll save that for later.

Welcome everyone to Christmas Bargain Central, a place to post and share ideas and offers .

Hello all! Not been on the prequel threads but was just saying to DH it was time for a Christmas bargain thread - and here you are!
Have a 10, 7 and 4 year old to buy for as well as £5 secret santas for DH's family.

Jedbartletforpresident · 31/07/2017 09:34

Checking in for another year (name changed since last year) - thanks Reastie!

I wonder what this year's Nintendo NES / Hatchimal will be???

I also have a 12 year old about to start secondary school so moving on from kids stuff to teen stuff. He has been talking about wanting to learn to play guitar for a while, so I'm thinking I might go down that route for Christmas with a term's worth of lessons and cheap guitar to learn on. Need to see if lessons would be available through his new school first though. (I kind of hope they're not because I have no other ideas!!!)

Other than that it's 10 year old DD who is getting a gift voucher for our local shopping centre for her birthday next month, because she's just getting to the stage of enjoying shopping for clothes. I didn't really expect that to start so young, but I wouldn't be surprised if she wants similar for Christmas.

7 year old DTs I have no idea! They are getting massive teddies (about the same size as them) and some jewellery and new jewellery boxes for their birthday in a few weeks because it was all they wanted and now I'm alone out of ideas for Christmas!

RueDeDay · 31/07/2017 09:37

Yay! So pleased to have these threads back, despite the fact that I've been lurking on the prequel!! I'm going home for Xmas this year (so excited!) so need far more presents than normal, all of which need to be portable!

christmasunicorn · 31/07/2017 09:40

Dd(13) wants a piano for Christmas Hmm she has self taught herself at school and wants to play at home. She will compromise for a keyboard though. Teens are tricky though so I might do the want/need/wear/read thing with her.

melissasummerfield · 31/07/2017 09:43

I love a christmas bargain! Happyland at elc tends to drop massively in price closer to christmas so i for those that have mentioned that i would wait and see.

agnes2016 · 31/07/2017 09:45

They have these on amazon

I've just discovered this thread and I really need help this year!

I have 2 boys aged 8 and 12. They have both had a very big gift for their birthdays and have been told this is also for Christmas.

So they know not to expect much but I'd hate to see a tree with barely anything under it! If I start now and buy bit by bit I can possibly manage £50-100 tops each. Depends what's out there and what I can afford.

As a family we have really pared down who we buy for. DH and I don't buy for each other. We team up with my brother to buy for our parents, one joint gift. And then I have a niece and 2 nephews to buy for and that's it, brother and I decided we weren't going to buy for each other anymore last year.

Tinyme are doing a letter of the day promotion on personalised stickers -- for names starting with the letter of the day you get 35 labels for just the £3 postage charge (it will also offer you special offers on other things when you order, which I assume is where they make their money).

Today is K and they've already done S, I, F, U, N, R, C, L, Z, Q and V -- but if you have a child with an initial that's not already been covered it's worth keeping an eye on.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 31/07/2017 09:54

Rainybo I have a similar aged niece and this year I am getting her a Burts Bees tinted lip balm + a roll on perfume (Oliver Bonas) as a nod to her being a little closer to teens. Then a couple of books as normal.

SymphonyofShadows · 31/07/2017 09:59

Thanks Reastie, hello everybody.

I'm after deals on Kindle with Alexa, new Nintendo 2DS and perhaps a chrome cast wotnot, as well as some smaller stuff for stockings and relatives. Advent calendar wise it will be the usual Lego SW, M&S beauty advent and the No7, which was so good last year. I think M&S suffered for the price hike and spend last year as our (very big) local store had loads left unsold that they sold off to staff.

I've got the Christmas spreadsheet up and running but there is nothing in the purchased column yet. I did manage to get some push crackers in the Jan sales for £3 though.
Does anyone remember that razor deal from Cornerstone that HQ sorted? I got it for DP and he loves it, he signed up to a razor plan and they sent him an additional razor that could also be engraved.

SymphonyofShadows · 31/07/2017 09:59

Posh crackers! Blush

MelinaMercury · 31/07/2017 10:03

Thanks for the Toys R Us prompt Tatty.

I got the Lego high speed train, Bugs in the kitchen, Hungry Hippos and an Olaf multi-colour pen for £103 delivered as opposed to the £113 in Argos 3 for 2 plus 3% cashback through Quidco :o

Actually on that note Remember to checkout and use Cashback sites where you can, I've got just over £20 back in my account to withdraw!

Bumbumtaloo · 31/07/2017 10:13

I have already got loads for my two dd's who are 7 and 5 and the eldest has her birthday three days after Christmas.

I have taken a chance that bush babies will be huge at Christmas - my two have already said at least a million times that they want one - and have used click and collect to get the £19.99 ones and as it's three for two I got another present.

I really need to go through my stash but can't do that as it's the summer holidays.

SymphonyofShadows · 31/07/2017 10:30

I'm also considering that coding Lego. I'll have to preorder though, as I reckon it will be popular.

Did anyone manage to reserve a mini SNES with Nintendo? I was on the notify list but logged on about half an hour after they sent they email and it was all sold out Angry

wornoutboots · 31/07/2017 10:30

I so badly need to go through my cupboard and make a list of what I have.

and to stop buying various bits of cheap stuff from Amazon on import from China

seething1234 · 31/07/2017 10:36

Oh watching with interest. I use an app that you can log what Christmas presents you've bought and where you have put them- it's pin protected too. Very handy

NoWordForFluffy · 31/07/2017 10:46

Ours are on top of the wardrobe under a Gro blind! 😁

Tattybogle89 · 31/07/2017 10:49

Checking in, I have a 3 year old boy (will be 4 in October).

Worried about buying for him as he changes fave ideas all the time.

But if there's any staple bargains like Lego/educational/not relating to a cartoon I will buy and wait till closer to the time to decide what he's into most then.

I've bought my 1YO daughter a second hand wooden ELC kitchen I seen on a fb sale site. As good as new

OhOurBilly · 31/07/2017 11:24

What is this app called ohHolyFuck it looks right up my street!
