You'll never guess what I got given at work today.

A Harrods biscuit tin that lights up and plays Jingle Bells!

Brought a smile to my face in a dark week

Where did you get those from sideorderofsprouts?

SideOrderofSprouts · 27/05/2017 07:29

Local shop that's closing down. Were originally £8 each at Christmas!

Not long till Christmas in July. I love Christmas in July.

MrsD I am very jealous!
Sprouts they are lovely

I haven't been feeling very festive lately after Manchester (and a bomb scare near where I work) but am determined to get my festive flow back this weekend.
DH is away for a few days so I am on a crochet mission - I have a hat to make as a baby shower gift and a set of gloves to make as a birthday present then into Christmas presents / decorations.
Will be settling down to it this afternoon with a festive film once I've bought some junk food

HairsprayBabe · 27/05/2017 11:45

I got sunburned yesterday, and then realised it is only 7 weeks till my summer holiday, after that I feel like I am free wheeling downhill to festive city!

SideOrderofSprouts · 27/05/2017 12:11

I've sorted out Sproutstheelders presents for her birthday. Can't believe she's 6 in less than 3 weeks! Then have to sort out baby Sprouts. Then it's on a roll to Christmas!

I did pick up some bits whilst in the uk but not a lot. It was hard with all three kids with me although now SproutstheEldest knows it is a bit easier as she took her sister off to look at something else whilst I snuck bits into the basket!!

I haven't posted on this (well, the other!) countdown thread since the beginning of January (a couple of namechanges ago) but I've woken up this morning feeling stupidly festive. DD's birthday is next week and I always think of it as the 'dividing line' of the year - we're into the second half from then. And it's only four months until I get into Total Christmas mode - it'll be here in a jiffy! Seems like only yesterday I was taking the decs down...

Most of my main present buying is done - DD will be 20 so not the same mad buying/piles of silly presents as in the past, sadly. One main present (a games console), a stocking and a few bits. I haven't got the console yet because it's not released, but I'm almost done with everything else. Out of interest, what do others buy for adult DDs? She's at uni but (happily!) lives at home which I think does make it a bit easier.

I've also got most of DH's stuff in - but I'm toying with the idea of splurging and buying him his dream guitar. His face on Christmas morning would be a picture if I did!

I see Christmas UK is starting to stir into life - just a few weeks really until they get going for CIJ. And only a few days until 200 Days of Christmas gets going on FB! Xmas Smile

I need to calm down, it's only May Xmas Grin

SideOrderofSprouts · 28/05/2017 08:25

Hi @quim Xmas Grin. I know what one of mine isn't getting as a main Christmas but not sure on the other two

frogsgoladidahdidah · 28/05/2017 08:51

I have all of my kids presents (except the main one, which I can't predict what they will ask for, obv).

Not sure what to buy DH?

This one will be a quiet one for us, we are not visiting anyone and it isn't our turn to host any parties. Boom!!!

CustardLover · 28/05/2017 09:27

I love these threads so much. I am a sporadic contributor but a regular lurker and they make me feel very content and cosy so thank you all Smile

Quim I have an adult DD - actually I have two as DD2 was 18 last month. Last year I bought DD1 a sat nav as she had recently passed her driving test and I also bought her tickets to see Wicked. A couple of books and her stocking and she was done. DD2 is a make-up addict so as long as she points me in the right direction for brands I can't go wrong. This year I'm desperate to get Cursed Child tickets, but I missed out on them in early May so I might have to bite the bullet and get the really expensive ones that are released a couple of weeks before the show date.

I also have a DS who still believes so it it wonderful to have grown up 'helpers' - we try to have a shopping day together in late November/early December. DD2 will be at uni 25 miles away so we may travel over to her and spoil ourselves. DH hates Christmas shopping crowds so has always let me get on with it while he does the childcare - it suits us both.

QuimJongUn · 28/05/2017 18:19

Woolly show tickets are a brilliant idea! DD lives theatre but on her student income tickets are out of her reach except for maybe a couple of times a year. There's always something she wants to see. And what a lovely way to make Christmas last! Thank you, and DD will be thanking you too come Christmas morning Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 28/05/2017 18:30

I made it a complete package - I bought train tickets as soon as the cheap tickets were released and cashed in some Tesco Clubcard points to buy a Pizza Express voucher (I even made the reservation at the restaurant as I wasn't sure they'd be able to walk in and get a table) Blush

I've bought tickets a few times. DD1 loves comedy and musical theatre so there is usually something that she wants to see. She's been a Harry Potter nut since she was about 6 so Cursed Child would be fab but they are hard to get hold of.
