Yes - we need links to lovely wrapping paper - Sometimes MIL uses lovely posh paper , I open my present ever so carefully and squirrel bits away to recycle.

Flashinthepan · 18/05/2017 14:09

Bit weird but could you try 'sealing' the glitter with a sealing spray?

I used to do that with craft stuff when I was a child and as it's a spray its not overly time consuming/messy.

I bloody love glittery wrapping paper and ended up getting some glitter in my eye last year while wrapping, very painful!

Flashinthepan · 18/05/2017 14:14

I've got the house to myself tonight, so I'm going to carry on making my advent calendar and watch a Christmas film!

TheWoollybacksWife · 18/05/2017 14:29

Flash this is my advent calendar. It was from a kit about 5 years ago.

Nowhere near as creative but this is the advent calendar I made for my little boy

Oh lovely Woolly and Crimbo!

I have made one before, the Bucilla toy shop advent calendar, which I gave to my mum as a gift. And I'm now making the Christmas tree one. I adore them. Bought a couple to make for future children, but as that's not going well I'm just making them for me!

smellylittleorange · 18/05/2017 22:57

Would never have thought of that flash - thanks ! Loving the advent calendars! Woolly and Crimbo

Picked up the next two books in the series DS is reading yesterday. They're in my present stash but I suspect that he'll have them before Christmas. Good job there's at least a dozen more.

AnotherShirtRuined · 19/05/2017 08:10

I love wrapping presents and making them really pretty. It's so much fun deciding on a theme, and I very much enjoy pinteresting to get inspiration. However, it usually goes completely unappreciated by the recipients, so for the last couple of years I've stopped. No one seems to have noticed Sad But I'm thinking of starting up again, purely for my own enjoyment Grin

Which wrapping theme have you had the most succes with in terms of personal enjoyment? Smile

MrsCrimbo74 · 19/05/2017 09:52

I love doing themes AnotherShirt I bulk bought silver wrapping paper about 7 years ago from Ebay and still have a bit left so use that every year for my adult presents and just change the colour theme attachments, one year was fuschia and lime green baubles and ribbon with matching feathers, last year I made poinsettas out of card to attach to the womens presents and bow ties for the mens, and then for kiddies I've done a few, these are a couple of the ones I've done, a toy soldier, although you can't see the feet in this pic and one of Father Christmas stuck in the chimney. I'd love to see everyone elses wrapping ideas

AnotherShirtRuined · 19/05/2017 18:26

Love it, MrsCrimbo! That's so creative, especially the chimney one. I'm no way near as creative. Usually I just try to make the presents pretty...

I don't buy paper in advance because : I'll lose it Xmas Blush and every year when I think about wrapping things, I know how long it will take so I cheat and buy boxes/bags/tissue paper/ribbon.

Which can actually take as long, but I'm wrapiing fewer presents now for the teen DC .
And the Christmas Eve Hamper will from now on be Dec 1st (it worked really well last year)

I love the Lindy Bowman range on QVC , very good quality and work out much better value than buying boxes in HomeSense etc. But last year the designs were more aimed at children or non Christmassey colours ( lilac and pink are not Christmas IMO, Mr Bowman )

HandbagCrazy · 21/05/2017 11:13

Oh I think I may be the odd one out here. I buy several different rolls of wrapping paper (ideally with some traditional type patterns) and give everyone mis-matched presents. I also don't buy expensive paper because I like making it easy for people rip off Blush

About halfway through December I kick DH out for the evening, put all the Christmas lights on, light a festive candle, watch Christmas films and wrap all Christmas he presents. I** love that evening Smile

Hello! Just popping in to say hi whilst on my holiday.

VivaJen · 21/05/2017 21:25

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday, I popped over to Dobbies yesterday and got some reduced Yankee Cinnamon candles (and paid for them with my points voucher- Yay!).

I am loving the crafty photos! More please!

I have also found some recipes for Peppermint Bark which I am hoping to test this week or next since I would like to give some as gifts/part of hampers this year.

Have an awesome Rudolph Day when it comes.

Whileweareonthesubject · 21/05/2017 21:43

Hope nobody minds, I've copied and pasted two posts I made on another Christmas thread yesterday.

I used a great app called Gift List. I can add gifts as I buy, including photos if I want, I can set a budget for each person, I can add links for online shopping for ideas not yet bought. It also automatically saves itself at the end of the year and let's me start over, whilst still having easy access to last year's list to guard against repeat ideas. It's wonderful.

If anyone buys BodyShop stuff, it's worth finding their nearest outlet store. They have an ongoing offer, only in their outlet, where you get discounts of you buy more than one item. 30% discount on any two items, 35% on any three and 40% on any four items. They also do huge sizes of shower gel (750 ml) and body butters (500g). Yesterday I bought 2 bottles of shower gel, one 500g body butter and a small gift set (shower gel, body lotion and a bath puff), total outlet cost of individual items £48.00 , discounted cost, £28.80. Buying the same quantities in the high street stores would have cost almost £80.00. Especially handy for small stocking fillers as well as industrial quantities for teenagers!

ConstantlyCooking · 21/05/2017 22:22

Hi all. I am embarrassed to say this thread has dropped off the "threads you are on" section Blush

I saw some reduced Christmas tissue paper in wh smiths today. I didn't buy any as I bought lots of paper in Costco last year. A Dunelm Mill has opened nearby so I am looking forward to seeing their Christmas range.

Morning all, I'm sat having my gtt test this morning so 2 hours to kill. I've brought my lists with me and I thought I'd make an early start on my rudolph day task. I'm going to write out my Christmas card list.

Yesterday my order from studio came, all items should have come to well over £80 and I got it all for £20. All my cards, wrapping paper, ribbons etc are all sorted for this year. Plus I got 4 Christmas presents and two were personalised. I was quite impressed with that.

HairsprayBabe · 22/05/2017 09:56

Just think in 6 months time we will be coming upto the last rudolph day, I will be finished with my christmas shopping, hampers almost done. Ready to start the festive season, this year I want to be wrapped before December!

Chrysanthemum5 · 22/05/2017 10:19

Hello all
What a lovely bunch you are. I LOVE Christmas but normally hide that from the world until after hallowe'en- I can be free here Grin

I've bought a few stocking things for DD and young nieces. Also bought a few beauty advent calendars in January as gifts for aunts this year.

Panto tickets were booked in January Smile

We have a very fancy fake tree as we got a new wooden floor and DH was worried a real tree would damage it. The tree is lovely but I do miss a real tree Hmm

So happy to have found you

SideOrderofSprouts · 22/05/2017 13:25

That's scary. 6 months till last rudolf day

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 22/05/2017 13:26

I've just been reading back while DS is napping on my lap.
I hated using glittery wrapping paper last year, there's still glitter in my house and it was a nightmare getting the sellotape to stick. This year I'll be going back to my old stash Smile everyone gets their own design though.

I love all the advent calendars! I'll be having a go at one when DS is older I think as I always wanted one as a child.

On the prep front I've been steadily picking up bits and bobs for small presents this month, mainly winter clothing in the sales for DS and some books that were on sale. I hadn't heard of Rudolph day though so I'll be attempting that now as well Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 22/05/2017 20:43

It's not long now (1-2 months) until M&S release their Christmas food offerings! As we have a £75 voucher we will be using them this year. I love Christmas food porn (prefer Booths, but might top up from there!).
