Thank you! Yes, that's what we always said, perfect timing!

AnyFarrahFowler · 24/06/2017 09:26

Mamas & Papas have a sale on at the moment - I may have bought 17 month old DS and DD (due 5th Nov) matching Christmas pyjamas...

73kittycat73 · 24/06/2017 13:27

HAPPY BIRTHDAY tootsieglitterballs! Xmas Grin I usually find the first few month really drag but this year they seem to have gone super quick! I hope the rest of the year doesn't drag now. Xmas Smile

tootsieglitterballs · 24/06/2017 13:33

I so hope the next few months fly by - I can't wait to welcome our next little one just in time for Christmas! However I may regret saying that with the amount of work we still need to do in our home before 'it' arrives!

73kittycat73 · 24/06/2017 19:44

Congratulations on the pregnancy tootsie. Xmas Smile

I've been ahem, on the other site looking back over the Christmas posts and came across lots of 'Santa's been' photos. Pictures of their tress with presents around. Now mind, I don't like this trend of not using tinsel on your tree, but I also noticed that a lot of people didn't have many other decs up either. I must admit, I only do a few celling ones as I have a small room and it's hard to get the step ladder round the furniture. However, I still tinsel anything that stays still long enough! Xmas Grin I have it round the TV and TV cabinet, along the bookshelves and down the sides, around my computer screen and desk. I have loads of Christmas ornaments (Snowglobes, etc.) for the room too. (Oh yeah, just remembered I have a few Christmas bits in the loo, and sets of Christmas bedding too. Xmas Grin. ). Anyone else decorate the whole house? Or do you just have the tree and a few ornaments. Do you colour match your decorations and use posh clear lights on the tree? I grew up in the 70's and 80's so Christmas decorating to me should be colourful, wonderfully tacky and everywhere! Xmas Grin

HandbagCrazy · 24/06/2017 23:22

73 I would love to decorate the whole house but DH disagrees Xmas Sad

When I was a child, my mum decorated everywhere (tree in garden, living room, hallway, kitchen, landing, Christmas towels etc in bathrooms). I loved it and ended up with a tree in my room too.

DH feels the tree and some ornaments in the living room would be fine.
I have managed to slowly creep out from there over the last few years and then last year he just sort of shrugged and agreed it was better to give in to my madness Last year ended up with tree in kitchen and living room, lights on tree in garden (a conifer but still, it had lights), ornaments / lights in hallway, dining room and kitchen and a Christmas candle in the bathroom.

73kittycat73 · 24/06/2017 23:53

Sounds fantastic Handbag. Xmas Grin Love the sound of your mum's decorating too! I'd love to have outside decorations but don't have any external outlets (Live in a first floor flat.). I've agreed with my mum that when we win the lottery (

Itmustbemyage · 25/06/2017 01:05

I totally decorate the whole house, Christmas stuff in every room even the bedrooms. Garlands up the stairs and banisters. Lights everywhere, not had a lot of luck with outside lights in the past even ones suitable for outdoor use don't seem to last long. Each year I add new stuff hopefully my new outdoor lights will last, planning to go all crafty this year making stuff. Just managed to stop myself buying Christmas lights for the car last year.
My DH just sighs a lot and lets me get on with it. He even buys me Christmassy stuff now as he knows it makes me happy. This year I'll be going all out as it's our first Christmas as grandparents.
I'm even responsible for decorating my workplace at Christmas.
I freely admit I go OTT when it comes to Christmas.

73kittycat73 · 25/06/2017 01:41

Just managed to stop myself buying Christmas lights for the car last year.

There are lights for your car? How did I not know this! Must resist urge...
Congratulations on becoming a Grandparent. I bet you are looking forward to spoiling the new addition?
Do your outside lights fail then? I hope this years lot last.
Christmas is OTT, so it's the only way to approach it! lol Xmas Grin

tootsieglitterballs · 25/06/2017 07:11

I decorate as much as I can get away with - this year we have done some refurb to the house including knocking through rooms, changing layout etc, so I have a new challenge!

We used to have a tree in the living room, dining room and a small one on the landing, now we have a kitchen diner I'll probably skip the tree and just do the beam, and various 'bits'.

A tiny tree in our bedroom, and this year also our DS room. I have lots of lovely little decs I like to pop all around the house, but these have got less over the last couple of years due to having a toddler. As DS and the next one get older I'll be able to start putting these all out again.

My beautiful glass baubles from liberty have been relegated to the fire place for the next few years!

I've yet to get Christmas decorating 'right' in this house yet... roll on finishing renovations and getting it just perfect!

I love the sound of the decorating going on in your homes! I did living room and a few little touches in the hallway last year - plus Christmas bedding. I want lights outside this year too. And I'll be on maternity leave so I'm going to challenge myself to make a wreath for the door (challenging for me as I'm not very crafty, though I wish I was!)

AnyFarrahFowler · 25/06/2017 07:22

PS Just realised it's exactly 6 months til the big day! Grin

MrsDilligaf · 25/06/2017 07:36

This year DS will be in a full size bed, so will be getting Christmas bedding!

Compromise with hubby for us is a red tartan style brushed cotton duvet!

Confession time.... I still have a Christmas cushion in the living room...pointless putting it away now, right?!

VivaJen · 25/06/2017 09:14

tootsie you display that Christmas cushion proudly! I would say it falls under a similar rule to Christmas Trees, if you don't take it down by the 12th night you have to keep it up all year!

Happy Rudolph Day everyone!! Sadly I'm at work but I have my Christmas planner with me and I'm running over all the dates that I'll need for this year, we're going to do a Thanksgiving Dinner and I'm trying to work out what date might be best to have a "mulled wine & mince pies" party for the neighbours.

SideOrderofSprouts · 25/06/2017 10:22

We're going to start our Christmas lists today. It's quite chilly today so

Six Months To Go Xmas Grin

Today is my DD 15th Birthday (well timed there Xmas Wink) .

Did a Birthday Box for her (little random things)

She had a Sleep Over (trust me there was very little sleep going on, they were still whittering on past 3am...................)

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 25/06/2017 19:29

Happy rudolph day everyone!

I've not done anything today as I've been at work so I'm going to have my rudolph day tomorrow I think. My baking cupboard could use a good gutting so I thought this would be a perfect time to sort it all and then add any extra bits I may need onto my weekly shop thus spreading the cost.

I've been looking through my Christmas magazines over the last week when putting Dd to bed and I've spotted a nice gift idea for my mil. An olive tree family tree (she's great at keeping things alive Grin) I might order some tags tonight so I feel like I've done something.

Vivajen I like the sound of your Christmas planner. I'm very jealous Smile

Hi all, hope you all had a nice Rudolph day. Xmas Smile Lovely to hear of all your plans and decorations.
That olive family tree sounds fab Marypoppinsisnosaint. I might be like you and pay homage to Rudolph day tomorrow and watch a Christmas film. Xmas Smile

tootsieglitterballs · 26/06/2017 07:51
