Joining the Christmas thread 😁🎄 much to my husbands annoyance (he knew about my Christmas obsession before he married me!) - I am in love with this thread!

The Christmas Eve traditions are making me giddy already.

We are due our second child at the end of November, so it's going to be a rather interesting Christmas for us this year!

Our DS (2 1/2 almost) is clearly taking after me with Christmas already - he loves it! Still remembers last Christmas and talks about it, and wants to watch Christmas movies! My poor husband...

flapjackfairy · 19/06/2017 16:59

I havnt been on here for a few days so just checking in mostly to moan about the weather. Roll on winter and the dark nights and even better the dark mornings! I am knackered by waking up at 4.30 every day , thats if i manage to dodge off at all in this heat.

Also i am feeling massively inferior to all you lovely people who manage to cram a weeks worth of activities into a single day on christmas eve. I really must up my game !
All i manage is a last tidy round , veg prep etc ,church and a small buffet and muppet christmas carol or some other christmasy delght!
Ooh nearly half way !

DP didn't pass this time, maybe next time, he just gets very in his head about things!

Hi tootsie sounds like you will have you hands full this Christmas!

I am starting to put the feelers out for my works Christmas do I like to have it booked in by August really. We have a few hard to please people in my team but no one else is bothered about organising it so I get the final say! Xmas Grin

VivaJen · 20/06/2017 08:47

Hairspray tell him not to worry, most people don't pass first time. I passed my 2nd time and DH was on his 4th when he passed.

HairsprayBabe · 20/06/2017 08:54

This was time number 4 for him, I am just trying to be positive but he gets very anxious and then very very disheartened afterwards, poor boy!

FireflyGirl · 20/06/2017 10:04

I was fourth or fifth time! My husband passed first time, he likes to lord that over me Grin

I've started a new job, so I will actually get a Christmas party this year! Have missed the last two years - unless you count me taking DS to see Santa at the garden centre and then having cake.

He's 2.3 now, and he is a lot more aware, so I think he's going to properly understand Christmas this year. I can't wait. I want to do loads of stuff with him, but think I need to contain myself. He loves trains though, so we'll be doing a Santa Express somewhere!

HairsprayBabe · 20/06/2017 10:06

The Santa Special is one of my favorite memories from childhood, I think I was nearly 3 when we did it the first time! How exciting for you Firefly!

TheWoollybacksWife · 20/06/2017 10:12

Oh bless him Hairspray. I've seen a recommendation on here that you should eat a banana before your test. On purely anecdotal evidence it works as DD1 ate one before her test and passed. As she was eating it she gave me the Hmm face and asked was it a MN thing.

HairsprayBabe · 20/06/2017 10:23

Right next time I will insist he eats a banana!

His instructor is great, taught his bro and he says he is 100% ready, and a pretty natural driver. He just can hack the test environment!

I haven't been on here for a few days so just checking in mostly to moan about the weather. Roll on winter and the dark nights and even better the dark mornings.

I haven't gone to bed yet, sat here in front of the fan. Weather forecast said it is going to be 19 degrees here tonight, and the hottest day so far tomorrow (Wednesday.). Not looking forward to that, I must admit!
Hi tootsieglitterballs, congrats on the pregnancy. Xmas Smile Have you planned anything Christmassy yet or are you concentraiting on DC2? I love hearing peoples Christmas Eve plans too. Xmas Smile

tootsieglitterballs · 21/06/2017 08:32

Hello @73kittycat73 ! Thank you - we are all super excited!

I've bought a few gifts already, and made a few tentative plans - it's my birthday this week, so once that's over, I'm allowed into Christmas mode (slowly!) - however this year I keep reminding hubby how extra organised I need to be as you just don't know what's around the corner.

I'm hoping to book a Santa train near us this year - DS1 will be almost 3, and loves the polar express so I think he will love it. We will try do that Christmas week, just in case I end up with a c section again to give me a little more recovery time before doing it.

Christmas Eve is my very favourite day of the year, more so than Christmas Day. I have a couple of traditions for us, and will try and make things extra magical this year for DS1, so the focus is more on Christmas than a new baby.
I'm hoping to take him to our local church children's service on Christmas Eve morning. We have cheese , pate, meats and bread etc for Christmas Eve dinner. We make mince pies for Father Christmas. Christmas Eve box (which has grown somewhat since I was younger - its definitely not just a pair of new PJs and your Christmas mug anymore!) , and lots of Christmas music throughout the day with a couple of movies! It feels a lot to fit in with a newborn, but I'll do as much as I can!

So excited!

73kittycat73 · 21/06/2017 13:43

Hi tootsieglitterballs, that sounds amazing, I'm sure your DC will love it! Xmas Grin Happy Birthday for this week! Tell hubby it's Christmas in July soon, so you have to get started. Xmas Wink Xmas Grin

kissmelittleass · 21/06/2017 20:45

Rudolph Day on Sunday! What's everyone doing?

tootsieglitterballs · 23/06/2017 08:51

Rudolph day... what have I missed?!

blacksmiths09 · 23/06/2017 12:20

I'm sat watching Eyes Wide Shut.

Bizarre. Christmassy (in the background) but wierd.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/06/2017 13:21

June's Rudolph Day is my DD birthday Xmas Grin

We celebrate the ' Six Months To Go ' with DD B'Day .

I will have Cake and Brew and marvel at the once teeny girl who is now taller than me .

tootsie - Rudolph Day is the 25th of all the other months where you either do something nice/plan/buy something to put away ...or all of them.

When it gets to Nov 25th its nice to go shopping before it gets too busy and think "A month to go" Xmas Smile

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/06/2017 13:26

My DS was whittering on about 'The Walking Dead' (started with me saying Rick looks better without a beard but Negan looks better with one) then comparing how young and soft skinned Andrew Lincoln looked in 'Love Actually' and chiselled in TWD.
And of course 'Love Actually' is .............a Christmas film Xmas Grin

73kittycat73 · 24/06/2017 00:53

Don't know about Rudolph day, I've been watching Christmas TV this evening. Xmas Grin Firstly the craft channels as they've been demoing Christmas cards, then I finaly got round to watching The Nutcracker that I recorded at Christmas. Even watched some of the Christmas adverts. Xmas Grin Is it Christmas yet? I get so excited! Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 24/06/2017 08:30
