Thank you for that Hawkins Bazaar tip. I got some bits for a birthday party bag and I got a stunt kite, reduced from £16 to £3!

Isadora2007 · 30/07/2017 12:28

@llamacorn
I do an advent angel every year which is a rag doll angel hidden with treats or stuff for activities. (I hate elf on the shelf!)
Encorporate in things you'd have been doing anyway- not so expensive.
Some ideas for you- cookie cutters so you can make and decorate cookies or even salt dough. A voucher for a trip to see lights at a garden centre or local similar lights and then hot choc. Paper chain making kit. New xmas book between them (could do a few over the 24 days). Their xmas pjs. Choc coins or Aldi mini choc shapes. Their cards for school friends or card making for family. A xmas cd. A xmas lego or playmobil set (look in sales now). New decorations for tree- maybe named ones?

I do an advent calendar for dd and get reduced Christmas crafts etc in January and Christmas books in charity shops over the year and stash in the loft and wrap them with a number on each gift. Poundland is great a couple of weeks after Christmas as it reduces Christmas stuff to about 25p, this year dd had a Christmas mug and plate that was down to 25p! I realise not a great tip for July but worth thinking about for next year.

frid · 30/07/2017 14:23

There'll be costume jewellery and bits of little tat super reduced after Halloween too. Depending on age, they won't even question a rubber skeleton etc.

OhHolyFuck · 30/07/2017 14:58

Can I put out a plea - if anyone sees any plastic Hey Duggee figures, especially Norrie or the frog can you please give me a shout? I've seen them on Australian eBay but they're £40+ with shipping
Thanks guys!

NoWordForFluffy · 30/07/2017 15:32

NeitherNowt great heads up re the kite. My kids have wanted a kite for ages, so I got 2!

There's a distinct lack of Hey Duggee merch, OhHoly

Groovester · 30/07/2017 15:42

Groovestar thanks but I think they're all plush ones aren't they? Ds2 doesn't like 'teddy' type things (other than his beloved stuffy) so was looking at the figure type ones

Groovester · 30/07/2017 16:08

Ahh, ok. There is a hey duggee comic. The last one had a small plastic duggee as its "free gift." Might be worth looking out for.

OhHolyFuck · 30/07/2017 16:09

That's a great idea groobestar could potentially get 4/5 if they're monthly

Reastie · 30/07/2017 16:10

OhHoly I'll keep an eye out in my local shop who sell free gifts from magazines they haven't sold for 30p. They will only be cheap tacky things but might work and I can post to you if I find anything.

Reastie that'd be ace thanks 😊
Hey Duggee is DS2s latest obsession and I didn't realise how hard it'd be to get toys...

arsenalwatford · 30/07/2017 16:38

Some good things on Sports Direct sale, like superhero belts for both adults and kids for £2-3 down from £9.99 (I've got a superwoman one myself, and they are good quality), and marvel socks:

mamapants · 30/07/2017 16:40

Just spotted and bought half price stockings on not on the high St.
There's quite a few discounted.

WreckTangled · 30/07/2017 17:11

Those things at sports direct are brilliant but I can't bring myself to spend £5 on delivery!

christmasunicorn · 30/07/2017 17:22

25% off at hype with code STAFF25SALE

Christmas Bargain Prequel Thread
arsenalwatford · 30/07/2017 17:22

i thought that about sportdirect, it's flipping cheeky, but if you choose the deliver to store option and there's one near it says you get a £5 voucher to spend in store and they've generally got tonnes of stuff in, kids tshirts and stuff.

christmasunicorn · 30/07/2017 17:38

Just for clarity - I do not work for hype and assume they sent the "staff discount" email to customers possibly by accident. I'm still impressed by the company for their fab customer service after honouring last years accidental discount.

VoldemortsNipple · 30/07/2017 17:46

Thanks christmasunicorn I've just ordered over £60 worth of stuff for £23. Loads of little stocking fillers for Scarlett 😊

woodwaj · 30/07/2017 18:41

Tesco used to be good for hey duggee figures. We are huge duggee fans here but the talking plushies are good enough here. Sainsburys occassionally have pjs in too
