Nope, I have no idea what a present shitting log is either.

See post 2 for links etc and note the addition of a link with more info to the mn Christmas appeal, a very good cause if you're looking to donate to charity this Christmas time.

Is it just my impression or last year the white company and jojo maman didn't have any or so many discounts on?

I think the white company must be over stretched- they expanded very quickly. Loads of discounts all this year. Years ago every item you bought from there was gift boxed free of charge and the quality was great. I bought 2 dressing gowns earlier this year and they are rubbish- ready for the bin after 6 months. Now they were probably cheaper than the one that I bought 20 years ago but that was great (it is the the garage wrapped around something-so I can see the quality difference).

Now it is all much more pile it high knock it out cheap stuff. In the early 2000s there was one white company discount weekend before christmas and `i remember waiting or it just so that I could get my candles etc.

ElfOnMyShelf · 17/12/2016 18:19

The likes of boden, joule, white company have really shot themselves in the foot.
Why pay full price when you know a 25% is on the way?

Whattodowithaminute · 17/12/2016 18:41

Anyone seen any good quality Christmas jumpers in the sale? Resented buying full price this year for school Xmas jumper days etc and wanted to stock up ready for next year! Obviously therefore can wait until after Christmas for sales but there are so many pre Xmas not sure I should risk it?!!

todayisabeautifulday · 17/12/2016 19:20

Yes I agree. The white company stuff I bought this year will clearly last less than in the previous years. I find it a bit ludicrous to publicise a '20%off until Monday' when we all know that the next weekend there will be another 20% off. I bought a pair of baby trousers from them online and went to return it in one of their shops. It was hard not to laugh at them, the quality was so bad I couldn't believe they thought they could sell such stuff at those prices, even in the sale!

Anyway, back to bargain hunting...

ihatethecold · 17/12/2016 21:03

I need to buy my MIL some Clarins.
Anyone seen any nice sets on offer?

Whatdoesaturkeydo · 17/12/2016 21:22

woodwaj · 17/12/2016 22:58

GinAndSonic · 17/12/2016 23:13

frazzled74 · 17/12/2016 23:19

Thanks for the annuals info. I've just reserved some for dcs and some friends children. I have also contacted Amazon to return the full price ones that I bought in November. They have price matched and refunded the difference.

margaritasbythesea · 17/12/2016 23:28

Has anyone seen a boys fleece onesie with a zip, no feet, no hood, and international delivery? Around an 8 yo size. Very thin on the ground this year. DS had a great one that he lived in at home last year and he missed it. It wasn't actually all fleece but cotton on the outside and fleecey within. It was from next but this year they just seem to be cotton.

confuugled1 · 18/12/2016 01:08

For anyone else that's not very organised, and has still to wrap stocking presents (if you do, I know that can be a divisive issue!) somebody on a different thread was talking about using the little sweet bags instead of wrapping paper.

The idea is that you can just pop the present in and scrunch it up around it without the need for lots of careful wrapping and sellotape, or you might just need a small bit of sellotape for some presents, but it would make it much quicker...

Thought it sounded quite a good idea (frankly anything at this point that can cut down on wrapping does!) so I've looked on ebay and ordered some red and green polka dot bags (some 5x7, some 7x9) and some red and white stripe ones.

There are loads available on ebay that say they will be delivered by Weds 21 December - they cost about £2 for 50-100 bags depending on size and colours etc. And if I'd thought about it earlier, and had time to get the bags from China it would have been a lot cheaper still. next year maybe...

They're also often priced so that it's a lot more expensive per bag to get the small quantities, so it's not that much more expensive to get 50 bags than 20 bags, or 100 instead of 50, depending on how many you think you'll need. I reckon I should be set up for the next 3 years or so with my stash so I'm hoping it works as expected.

Margaritas - I've picked up a fleece onsie at John Lewis online yesterday, no hood/feet! Boys pj section!

MTWTFSS · 18/12/2016 06:33

Boden has a "sale" (appears to be all summer stuff)

margaritasbythesea · 18/12/2016 08:34

I shall have a look how to catch. I did look yesterday online but maybe I missed it.

margaritasbythesea · 18/12/2016 08:36

Thank you!

SilverGiraffe7 · 18/12/2016 08:51

I've approached the stocking wrapping dilemma with tissue paper this year - pack of 80 sheets (A4 ish) for £1 from the works. Wrap and scrunch with a single piece of sellotape if needed... It's a change from the wrapping paper but as I've used a different colour range for each child it might stop the "oh-poo-I-meant-to-put-that-in-DS1's-stocking.." I had last year when a few got muddled during bag to stocking transfer!! Blush

margaritasbythesea · 18/12/2016 08:52

Sorry howto what design is it? I can't see one. And what on earth do John Lewis think a parent wants with a button up onesie? Don't they have kids who get up for the loo in the night?

There are others, but with hoods...

Shufflebum · 18/12/2016 08:57

Not really present related but I need a Christmas table cloth, ideally cotton and not going to stain but not tacky, potentially something I could use not at Christmas....can't find anything!

PamelaEwing · 18/12/2016 09:02

For all the marketing I received online and in the post about the Boden sale, it's v disappointing. 50% seems to only be for the smallest sizes. And the nicer bits in the summer stock only have slight reductions. Come on Johnny, where's your Christmas spirit (or your £10 vouchers)!!

imsorryiasked · 18/12/2016 09:21

shufflebum have you tried linens direct and dunes?

coolpatterngirl · 18/12/2016 11:55

Does anyone know or suspect if any of the major retailers are going to reduce Xbox one s' in the next week? I think the best deal is with Smyths at the moment but happy to be corrected.

Hulababy · 18/12/2016 11:57

Not strictly Christmas but a big discount saving none the less:

Anyone needing Walt Disney World tickets for 2017?

The UK 7 day tickets are currently 25% off saving £100 on an adult ticket. 14 day tickets are the same price as 7 days, which they do often anyway, nut now with the extra saving.

Huge saving!
