GodReastieMerryGentlemen · 08/12/2016 12:27

Nope, I have no idea what a present shitting log is either.

See post 2 for links etc and note the addition of a link with more info to the mn Christmas appeal, a very good cause if you're looking to donate to charity this Christmas time.

beadyboo How about a hamper for your BIL, I've found this place that does hampers starting at £15 and they come in a nice little box, they were on Not on the Highstreet but I found it was cheaper to go through them direct. There's something for everyone here. They also deliver it on a date convenient to you.

doctorboo · 14/12/2016 16:25

Waaah! Bit naffed off; my latest Chalkola pen order (the window ones) has been cancelled and my £1 refunded. And Blush I was going to give them away as a gift.

SpareTheRod · 14/12/2016 16:32

Huge thanks to PiePieChickenPie and OrganisedNotObsessed for the Teapigs recommendation and discount code. £15 off £25 (with code OBONAS16) is a fab saving. I got two of the choose-your-own-sample packs so my best friend can now try out 24 different flavours :-)

Just noticed DC superhero girls - Batgirl, Supergirl and Bumble Bee - are down to £12.24 on Amazon from £19.99.
DD desperately wants Harley Quinn which is still £19.99 grrr...

Nickdrake, I don't know what 14 year old boys like, but my 9 year old girl wouldn't want Barbie stuff. That age mostly love Smiggle, craft stuff and stationary. Things like scented glittery pens and cute shaped pencil cases go down well.

SittingDrinkingTea · 14/12/2016 16:39

Pusheen (a cartoon cat) and unicorns are big with nine year old girls too.

Does anyone know if you can get Ikea giftcards from anywhere other than an Ikea store? I've been there twice in the past week and forgotten to get one for my brother. I can't be arsed to go back (plus I know if I do, I will come out with the usual £20 worth of candles, cinnamon buns and other random crap)
Can I get one online somewhere?

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 14/12/2016 16:56

Sorry, was being lazy! I Googled and found that Voucher Express do them. Blush

DillieDoily · 14/12/2016 17:59

For any Frozen fans it might be worth checking your local Boots- I got Birthday Party Anna and Elsa dolls priced at £4.80 each (no visible sign of them being reductions/clearance in Boots but usually £12 elsewhere) and in 3 for 2 so paid £9.60 for 3 dolls.

Can't find them on the Boots website but same as these ones

GodReastieMerryGentlemen · 14/12/2016 18:36

dd and I went to record a message in the recordable m and s biscuit tins but both of them don't work, so I'll need to brace real shops tomorrow to get a refund or replacement. Has anyone else had this issue? Don't want the next two to have the same issue..... I've also lost the receipt but given they can only be from m and s and are current season I'm hoping there won't be a problem .

Has anyone ordered and can recommend Bloom&Wild letterbox flowers? I'm thinking of getting my 90 yo nana a subscription with the 10% discount for first orders. As she struggles to get to the door quickly, flowers which pop through the letterbox would be ideal

Atticmatic · 14/12/2016 18:43

gerrard I received some for my birthday and they were stunning. Fab quality and looked amazing.

Admiralclingus · 14/12/2016 19:03

beady could you get the boy an xbox voucher? I think they start at £10 and that way he could buy some game add ons or even some games for the xbox?

BeaLola · 14/12/2016 19:05

For the OP whose post I can't find who was looking for 60 year old Mum who they were thinking of Neom candle for I just wanted to say they have 20% off today online if that made it more bearable ?

I was bought the intensive skin treatment candle as a gift and I loved it (full price is £36). It would suit someone who likes having massages/ beauty treatment. Basically you light it for specified time - lovely aroma, let it cool and then pour the wax onto your skin and massage in . Was lovely but a bit different.

Other suggestions - voucher for a gel manicure ?

I like the Aaromatherapy Bath oils - lovely rang to suit all.

Or how about mini Jo Malone bath oil ?

luckiestgirl · 14/12/2016 19:06

reastie Someone said a while back that the thing to do with those is to record your message in the shop because so many were not working. Try them in the shop and then buy the ones that work.

GerrardWinstanley · 14/12/2016 19:13

Thanks Attic. Think I'll go for it then . She's housebound so it would be nice to bring some of the outdoors in for her.

NickDrake As the owner of a 9yo girl who still regularly plays with Barbies and the like I still agree with Sitting. I think DD would be embarrassed to get one as a gift even though there are about 15 of the buggers littering her bedroom floor. They start putting on a mature/cool front at this age sadly. So yes to stationary, cuddly onesies , cute slippers/socks. Girls also seem unfathomably obsessed with lip balm at this age Confused . If you could get to Primark you could pick up 3 or 4 things for a tenner. Or alternatively, a book would be a great idea if her parents could give you some clue on what she likes to read. Or an itunes/playstore voucher if she has a phone or tablet

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 14/12/2016 19:18

Nick I have bought my niece of a similar age little Christmas nail stickers from eBay, they're a nice stocking filler at 99p a sheet! Loads of different designs, you stick them on and then put a clear layer of varnish over the top. Fun without being too grown up.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 14/12/2016 19:19

Fallensky I have just brought the lip balm selection lolly from body shop buy 2 for £12 get 10 lip balms free delivery and a free body butter. I plan to give ds2 nursery them as the gift set for them to split up and share he has just moved room so more a token gift bit didn't want to give predictable tin sweets.

Questionsquestionsquestions · 14/12/2016 19:22

Can I ask a quick Teapigs question of anyone who has ordered and had them arrive? Do they have an expiry date? Wondering if I could get away with ordering some of the little packs for next Christmas, as it seems like a good deal (can't miss out on one of those!) but I'm pretty sorted for this year. Or will the expiry date be before then - any idea anyone? Thanks x

MrsDanvers123 · 14/12/2016 19:23

First post! Furreal Bootsie is going through the till for £20.00 at Tesco - it is still £38.00 on Amazon. HTH someone with a twitch...

PersisFord · 14/12/2016 19:30

30% off at Ted baker.....

luckiestgirl · 14/12/2016 19:30

I've just had a thought- do you remember the pre-order cheap Boden ruched skirts- when are they supposed to come in?

SomethingOfTheNight · 14/12/2016 19:42

Reastie, I bought two, one worked, one didn't. I found it too noisy in store to check whether it recorded though. When I returned it for an exchange I checked the replacement by pressing the button on top to make sure I heard it beep (as the faulty one that i returned didn't). I'm wittering, hope that makes sense Xmas Grin.

beadyboo · 14/12/2016 19:51

Luckiest - my skirt came at least 4 weeks ago.
Thanks for the Ted Baker tip persis.

Giselaw · 14/12/2016 20:02

It's probably been mentioned that Tesco Direct have 1/3 off most of their toys ... If anyone has girls into Disney princesses, these two bargains looked great

Cinderella carriage & horse for £14.95 selling at Argos for £38 and Asda for £44 though i did see it on sale at Amazon for £25

Rapunzel magical story skirt doll for £8.34 retails elsewhere for £20-25. These are really lovely - with bit of water, the dress reveals a patten - I bought another princess in these series earlier this year and it was very well received by birthday girl.

Cinderella dressing table/chair set for £7.20. Think this is a great sharing gift you you've a couple of girls to buy for and they're just a few years apart.
