He touched the elf! He bloody well touch the fricken elf! Right in front of the dc!
So now when the dc woke this morning I was asked if I'd moved him as he can't as he hasn't any magic cos daddy touched him. Angry
Bloody men!
So tonight mr elf is off to elf hospital in the hope Father Christmas can restore his magic and make dc believe again before they start to question santa before Christmas

(Btw I do know Christmas is not really---- ruined I am completely over exaggerating that so don't flame me for it. I do have a sense of humour)

God that sounds like bloody hard work! Can't touch it? Why can't anyone touch it though? Obviously I know it's because he will lose his magic but what's the thinking behind that?

JiltedJohnsJulie · 03/12/2016 12:21

The more I hear about the elf, the happier I am that we don't have one.

ElspethFlashman · 03/12/2016 12:21

You aren't allowed touch it?

God the more I hear about this Elf the more I wonder what madness it is.

dementedpixie · 03/12/2016 12:21

The whole elf thing sounds like a lot of hard work. Glad it didn't exist a few years ago when my kids were younger

AtSea1979 · 03/12/2016 12:23

MN started the whole bloody elf thing off! and sodding Xmas eve hampers

Ifailed · 03/12/2016 12:24

more fool you for introducing such a ridiculous concept into your house.

GinIsIn · 03/12/2016 12:25

What actually is the point of all this elf stuff? Confused

bibbitybobbityyhat · 03/12/2016 12:25

Fuck the Elf on the shelf I say. Load of preposterous nonsense. I suspect your dp feels the same.

80sMum · 03/12/2016 12:25

What's this "elf" thing all about? I need educating!

Joinourclub · 03/12/2016 12:26

Who started this Elf trend? Where did it come from? How come everyone on mn seems to have one but nobody in real life does? What is the point of the elf? Shouldn't he be at the North Pole making presents?

HerRoyalFattyness · 03/12/2016 12:26

The elf is freaky. He will never appear in my house. It's even weirder that you're not meant to touch him Confused

StillTryingHard · 03/12/2016 12:27

Blushlove the elf tradition - nicked it from mumsnet 3 years ago

But never heard the bit touching rule before.

PberryT · 03/12/2016 12:28

WTF you can't touch it?!

Not that I would, it looks freaky.

ElizaDontlittle · 03/12/2016 12:29

Can't your children play with him during the day? I know a few people in RL who do EotS and he's a toy in the daytime! Anyway, Christmas can be just as magical whether DC "believe" or not. Don't stress about it.

JellyWitch · 03/12/2016 12:30

Why can't you touch it?

Confused dont get these fads - elf, hampers., xmas pjs ...

NoCapes · 03/12/2016 12:32

C'mon OP you must've known you'd get slaughtered here, MN hates the elf, Xmas eve boxes and more than one homemade present per child plus any joy at Christmas!

I never did the no touching rule for our elf, but we don't have the Creepy McCreepyson that is the real one, I got a lovely soft cuddly one, our rule is that he has to be put back in his sleigh each night before bed or he can't do his thing

Your Husband however clearly needs planking by said Elf when he's better - draw on his face when he's asleep and the Elf is holding a marker in the morning??

halfgirlhalfturnip · 03/12/2016 12:34

Thank goodness I missed this tradition. I fear I would have become a little too involved.

longdiling · 03/12/2016 12:34

Poor DH! I'd be touching that elf all the way to the bin. Or the log burner. Creepy little bastards.

I can't believe there is so much invested in the creepy little fuckers Confused

AnnieAnoniMouse · 03/12/2016 12:39

Oh.

Ooops.

I don't 'do' the Elf (too much faff as far as I'm concerned!!) but I'd be pissed off with DH. Did he know he wasn't supposed to touch it? Has he been specifically told? If he had, no excuse! If he hadn't, well...

Soubriquet · 03/12/2016 12:41

I don't have an elf but I have heard the basic rules

The elf sits on the shelf and watches everything that happens.

At night he returns to see Santa and reports back. He then gets up to a bit of mischief when everyone is asleep

You do NOT touch the elf or the Magic dissapears.

Helps the children to think he's done what he's done all on his own
