He touched the elf! He bloody well touch the fricken elf! Right in front of the dc!
So now when the dc woke this morning I was asked if I'd moved him as he can't as he hasn't any magic cos daddy touched him. Angry
Bloody men!
So tonight mr elf is off to elf hospital in the hope Father Christmas can restore his magic and make dc believe again before they start to question santa before Christmas

(Btw I do know Christmas is not really---- ruined I am completely over exaggerating that so don't flame me for it. I do have a sense of humour)

There's only one thing for it......Xmas Grin

I didn't know they weren't supposed to touch the elf. I also didn't pay £30 quid for it. Ds's school started it this year which prompted where is my elf? When does Santa send him? (Cheers for that one school!) so I got a boy one and a girl one for less than £10. Children constantly playing with them. Dd1 sucks on the elfs hat and brings it up for nap time. At night (if I remember) we move them and make they do something funny (hid in the tree, swing from the bathroom light switch, climb a tinsel rope) we don't do naughty tricks. Elf leaves a naughty or nice report which decides on the star on the star chart that we have all year round

I'm so glad that I never succumbed to this elf malarkey. Waaay to much hassle for my liking. Although I do enjoy seeing the pictures of very creative elf antics Xmas Smile

This is our third year of doing the elf thing...I had no idea you weren't meant to touch it! We have a cuddly elf and my kids take it in turns to take him to bed every night. They love having the responsibility of looking after him and making sure he doesn't get up to mischief...and they fail every time!

We've got a different kind of Elf as the Elf on the Shelf seems a bit creepy, and brings treats when they're going to get lots of treats on 25th anyway. We've had a visit from the Kindness Elf. So each day after hiding in a different place around the house Elf suggests to dd in a note a little kindness mission. Today her mission is to "give lots of compliments", tomorrow she might suggest making cakes to give as presents, or donating some books to a charity shop/school fayre, etc. Lots of ideas online. So far so good! Good luck OP with the Elf Ospital!

This is what happens when you make the magic of Christmas too detailed. Must not touch the elf, santa always uses the same wrapping paper every year, etc etc

Keeping it all as vague as possible is much less stressful and just as magical.

Stasi on the shelf.

I don't have an elf, don't understand the elf and haven't RTFT.

But can someone explain why the elf watches whether children are well behaved but then causes naughtiness overnight. Hypocritical no? I don't get it.....Hmm

Dizzywhore · 08/12/2016 20:45

I love the elf thing. My kids really enjoy playing with them. Don't get the no touching thing at all! Just makes it hard work and less fun! Why all the rules? Just have fun!!

Letustryagain · 08/12/2016 21:29

I printed off an Elf letter for our 'girl' Elf that came from Santa saying that ours needs lots of hugs and cuddles and likes to go out on family trips too, but doesn't like school so not to take it there.

Covers all eventualities. I don't believe in making things hard for myself!

I think this would be a fitting punishment for your DH

Sorry if it's been asked not
RTFT but if you can't touch him does he have to stay on whatever mess he made the night before until the next night?

Purplefrogshoes · 09/12/2016 20:12

My sister kindly bought dc an elf Xmas Angry Day 1 he took Kevin the carrot hostage, day 2 he drew minions on bananas and on day 3 I gave the creepy little bastard a sock so he would be a free elf like Dobby and fuck right off Grin Halo
