Cosmetic Bag Free When You Spend £20 (use code EARLYBIRD at the shopping basket)

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 03/11/2016 12:31

Does anyone know where I can buy a medium sort of sized rectangular basket from? I'm making my stepdad a cheese etc hamper but all the ones I can see on eBay are around £6-7....which really eats into the budget I have to fill the thing!

Is there a link for the Hotel Chocolate Advent calendar offer through Quidco? Can't find it on their site. Thanks

I had an email this morning with a link. It takes me through to this landing page and then when I click on one of the online rates links it comes up with a message about the calendars. I'm not sure if you can just order the calendar or if you have to order something else alongside (with the advertised 10% or 12% cashback rate) and then you get the 50% cashback for the calendar itself.

Does that make sense?

wowwee123 · 03/11/2016 12:33

home bargains and b&m usually have baskets a bit cheaper. Failing that could you recycle an old box covering with wrapping paper?

cheerylilthing · 03/11/2016 12:34

TK Maxx can be good for baskets too. Failing that, Asda. They usually put them with bathroom storage/interiors

RatOnnaStick · 03/11/2016 12:34

this is the message:

The Advent Calendar - Milk offer is valid for the first 2,000 redemptions and one calendar per member
Cashback for sales of The Advent Calendar - Milk will track at a lower amount and update at a later date
Please see the offer Terms and Conditions for purchase under 'More ways to save at Hotel Chocolat'

RoastieToastieReastie · 03/11/2016 12:37

A Halloween reduced stuff update. I went to Poundland but all the Halloween stuff was still £1. Sainsbury's was much better and got some small bits to stash like little glow in the dark bat multipack, fake blood, and glow in the dark skeletons for 30p per set.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 03/11/2016 12:37

Oh brilliant thanks both - hadn't though of looking in the bathrooms bit. Might try local Wilkos too.

Failing that I think I will go down the route of old box + wrapping paper. Especially as it's just to transport the stuff, he won't be using it afterwards.

Thekidsthatpukedxmas · 03/11/2016 12:44

A word of warning regarding the Quidco/ Hotel Chocolat offer, it actually went live yesterday. Considering it is on a limited number basis and you don't know whether you get the 50% off until a later stage as it tracks at the lower rate, I have decided to only buy it if I was happy to pay the full amount anyway, as I don't think 2000 would have lasted very long!

Laska5772 · 03/11/2016 12:46

What do you reckon for a micro scooter for a nearly 4 year old? if I get the deluxe ? He is about mid height for his age

Laska5772 · 03/11/2016 12:47

Mini micro scooter I meant!!

HighDataUsage · 03/11/2016 12:49

The card factory has a basket and cellophane kit for those making gift hampers for £5.99.

Oreocrumbs · 03/11/2016 13:00

Laska my dd ha out grown the mini micro by the time she was 5, she is quite tall, but not especially so.

I would go for the micro scooter otherwise you won't get very long out of it.

I've had another email about chalk pens, apparently the earth colours will be available for £1 tomorrow when they send out a code.

And in other news I've had the first casualty of the Christmas stash..... I've been up wrapping presents and have savagely attacked a box of chocolates no self control..... oh well I'm sure my brother would prefer a calendar anyway Grin

insan1tyscartching · 03/11/2016 13:09

Reastie lots of Halloween stuff in Morrisons this morning reduced to pennies. Hopefully you have one near you.

IHeartKingThistle · 03/11/2016 13:15

Hmm DS (7) has been showing some interest in those stunt scooters with the two footplates. BUT he's not terribly brave bless him and can't ride a bike yet. He used to adore his mini micro - now wondering of maxi micro might be the way forward. I can see the stunt scooter sitting in the garage after he decides it's too scary. Or are they great and I should get him the one he's seen?

vroc81 · 03/11/2016 13:15

Wilkos Halloween stuff 75% off.. Little buckets down to 12p which is what I bought but well overstocked in everything in our store.!

Thanks for the Christmad bargains everyone!

Oreocrumbs · 03/11/2016 13:22

Iheartkingthistle. Dd (6) also has one of those v scooters.... and yeah it lives in the garage! She is not remotely timid, but sadly inherited my co ordination so she struggles with it. I've bought a 'normal' 2 wheeled scooter for this Christmas (she still tries to ride the micro but she is far far too big).

I will be buying a micro scooter at some point for her, but I've just bought a cheapie for now, as I've already spent too much on other presents I can't justify another expensive item!

Also my parents will be off to Germany in the spring so I'm going to try and get them to buy it there, they are cheaper in Germany.

GiraffeAHolic · 03/11/2016 13:26

Thanks for the Amazon club info. Registered the other day and got my earth colours chalk pen set code this morning. Recently covered the back of my kitchen door with bargainous sticky back blackboard paper so am really chuffed with them!

Vistaverde · 03/11/2016 13:28

Sorry if already mentioned but haven't caught up with all the thread.

For the poster asking about Micro Scooters the cheapest place to buy them certainly before Brexit and the falling pound was Germany. Even though I had to pay 15 euros for delivery I still saved about £15 on what I would have paid here for my DS's maxi. Delivery was super speedy as well.

With the state of the pound I am not sure whether it will still work out cheaper this way but just in case it helps someone the site I used was: der-rollenshop.sportkanzler.de/

IHeartKingThistle · 03/11/2016 13:34

Thanks oreo. I suspect he would be the same, I just don't want a disappointed little face on Christmas day!

pantherfootballforever · 03/11/2016 13:37

Iheart - do you mean a flicker scooter? How about a genuine stunt scooter? They are regular 2 wheel scooters which can be ridden like a regular scooter but are also built to be able to do jumps and tricks etc. (Kind of like a scooter version of a skateboard). Smyths do some but your best bet is to look online. There are loads available in a wide range of prices. If your DS is only 7 it'll be cheaper as you can get a more basic starter one and then see how he gets on with it. The good thing about them is if he decides not to do the tricks (or is unable to) then he can still just ride it as a normal scooter and it won't go to waste.

Check out Skate Hut
Skates or
Kate's Skates

We have bought from Skates and have had excellent customer service from them and super fast delivery. There don't seem to be many discount codes around just now (although there may be more around Black Friday) but there are decent sale items and if you are happy to go with an older model or cheaper make you should be able to get a good deal.

IHeartKingThistle · 03/11/2016 13:44

Thanks so much panther. Yes I did mean a flicker I think - are they no good then? Ill have a look at the stint scooters but honestly he's so cautious I think he'd scare himself!

pantherfootballforever · 03/11/2016 13:55

My niece had a flicker and while she enjoyed it, it didn't get used much as it wasn't really safe or practical for going down the street on, and even in the park it was more hard work than anything else. It is languishing in my parent's garage and my DCs and nieces & nephews take it out to play on from time to time but it definitely doesn't get used like a regular scooter would do. Conversely my nephew has a stunt scooter and he uses it all the time - with his friends he goes out and does his tricks and can spend ages practising them in the garden (he has some ramps) but he also uses it to get about to the park etc. I guess just like a kid on a skateboard would do - it's a mode of transportation for them but can also do the fun stuff. I think the flickers are all about the fun stuff and not really practical in terms of transportation hence why they lose their appeal pretty quickly and esp if the child doesn't have the skill level to actually ride it properly.

My DS is getting a stunt scooter this year but as he's older (just coming up on 12) we've gone for higher quality to withstand his weight and the tricks he and his friends do (he already borrows friends' skateboards and does tricks on bikes etc so we know he is capable and keen) and also for a particular colour way for him as style is all important Hmm. It was £150 which is ridiculous but there are way cheaper ones available
