I'll have DD, newborn (not here yet but will be), 5 nieces/nephews, 3 friends' children, DPs, DB, nursery keyworker plus at least 3 birthday parties between now and Christmas. DH and I don't buy for one another and we don't buy for any siblings other than my brother (other siblings have DC so it has been agreed that we just buy for kids now. DB buys for kids but has none of his own - he's much younger than us, just out of uni etc - so we buy him something ).
I buy for DD throughout the year. I put something extra in my Amazon basket whenever I place an order eg a book, small toy, jigsaw.
I started buying more in May. Just little "boring" bits here and there like colouring books, stickers, pants etc.
I picked up a lot in a Tesco halfprice sale in July/Aug (wooden blocks, drs set etc)
I've just had a small spree in the Argos 3 for 2 as I'm starting to get an idea of what to get other people so have covered 2 nieces and 2 friends' kids plus have birthday party gifts bought.
I'll buy bits every month between now and then and I've started to pick up food bits too. I'll buy DD's main gift in Dec once she decides what she wants. 80% of what she gets will be things that WE want her to have ie things she will enjoy and use throughout the year but nothing WOW. The other 20% will be from her list of junk toys that she has seen advertise on TV.
I don't use a credit card. I don't use an OD. I would hate for someone to get into debt for the sake of buying for me or DC. I start January skint but not in the red.
