Ok this thread may commence from midnight in honour of Fellatio. I sadly abandoned last years mid run due to pre-eclampsia and early birth of my December baby and therefore fully intend to throw myself fully into this years festivities:

"OK, first of all, I know it's still September by we need to start this thread now because as you all know, having a truly Poncetastic Christmas involves precision planning, strategy, bravery, heroics, and frequently martyrdom. A bit like the war in Afghanistan, only with nicer food and sparkly shoes.

So, if you, like me, actually want to make the next twelve weeks of your life a misery by hand-crafting your cards, finding a huge bucket for Nigella's turkey in brine, pickling pears, shrivelling oranges in a low oven for those rustic au naturel decorations, dragging half a holly bush back from the woods, and just generally being a smug annoying jobsworth ponce, join me on this thread.

Feel free to post photos of previous tree-trimming, cake icing or table centrepiece triumphs, discuss this year's bauble colour themes, debate the merits of Delia versus Gordon, road-test a selection of canapes and cocktails, (all in the line of duty) and link to lovely inspirational photos/craft ideas for a truly Poncetastic Christmas.

Warning: If your idea of a good Christmas involves Pizza, ITV, gravy granules or anything with 'Aunt Bessies' on the packet, this is not the thread for you".

Let's surpass all poncestastic pasts please

I use Delias chutney recipe, but you have to make it way in advance to allow for the vinegar to mature, I think if you make it now you would just about have enough time, but I make mine in August!

Poncing for this weekend will include designing the labels for my jars and bottles, got my order from Wares of Knutsford the other day so i just have to hold out for as long as possible before bottling up the liquors. I am having my Christmas party on the 10th and will be doing mini hampers as party favors/christmas gifts to the attendees so I will have to make sure all food poncing is finished by then!

Hi everyone, I have a load of these jars. I use them to make pumpkin tea lights for Halloween but have never found an idea I really like for Christmas. Any ideas? Please :)

I am assuming you are looking for decorative ideas rather than gifting ideas

Fill with tinsel and battery operated LED's
Fill with pinecones and fake berries
Fill with little baubles and battery operated LED's
Homemade snow globes
Stick a black silhouette of a wintery scene onto the jar and light a candle in the jar
Fill with green and red sweets
Fill jar with red and green slips of paper with crafts, charades, games, homework, chores etc. on them and if a child claims to be bored get them to draw a slip of paper and do the task
Draw festive things on with sharpie and light a candle, this can be removed with white spirit after christmas if you want to reuse the jars
Put a festive flower arrangement in them
Cover whole jar in glitter and put a candle in it
Paint red and tie a black ribbon round the center with a buckle - Santa Jars
Store candy canes in them, hooked over the top

Yes decoration ideas. My pumpkin ones I cover on strips of orange tissue paper and use black card to make faces but christmas ones I could never quite find a look or idea I liked.thank you for the ideas .

HairsprayBabe · 02/11/2016 14:38

Not ponced myself but felt it was suitably poncy - just ordered the ciate nail varnish advent calendar for myself woo hoo!

HairsprayBabe · 03/11/2016 09:02

Donostia
That scarf is beautiful! So chic, put my name down for one!
My knitting is, in the words of my grandmother, a bit... lumpy Xmas Grin I can crochet flowers though and made several broaches last year with a few clumped together, didnt matter they were on the wonky side, looked more natural and characterful I felt Xmas Grin

HairsprayBabe · 04/11/2016 08:15

It is the Hobby Crafts for Christmas Fair at the NEC this weekend, is anyone else going along?

Mummyshortlegz · 06/11/2016 11:10

WHEN do I need to start my narcissi off? I bought paperwhite bulbs but not sure what stones I need to buy? Any help?

littletike · 06/11/2016 13:53

I have this Christmas pudding vodka and brandy soaking... What can I do with the fruit after I've filtered it? Though I'll probably have to fish out the cloves... Seems a waste to bin it

LaChatte · 06/11/2016 17:55

Umm, I'd just eat it, but I guess you could make a cake and Bing the bits in.

LaChatte · 06/11/2016 18:02

Bung autocorrects to Bing apparently.

LaChatte · 06/11/2016 18:08

Your link sends us to the homepage, not a specific recipe by the way Grin

littletike · 06/11/2016 19:09

Oops... www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/christmas_pudding_vodka_45343

Theres a lot of mixed dried fruit in it... Don't think I could eat it all!

cookiefiend · 07/11/2016 00:29

Well DD1 and u have been making tea advent calendars for people. I had dreamed of elegantly stamping each envelope but she is three so we have stuck Christmas stickers on each one (in an alarmingly haphazard way). Hopefully it will look festive and not just rubbish. Still we had a lovely time.

FireflyGirl · 08/11/2016 16:58

Cookie, that sounds lovely.

I'm on a bit of a poncing hiatus at the moment, but just reading the Christmas Good Food magazine so getting lots of ideas!

HairsprayBabe · 09/11/2016 19:06

Love the idea of a tea advent calendar! Im low carb atm so anything that isnt crammed full of sugar but is still a treat is a bonus!

Trumpton · 12/11/2016 02:22

Mummyshortlegz
I am starting my narcissi this weekend and just use sea pebbles to set them on as I live by the beach.
Any stones will do though . Garden centres sell pretty ones or just use stones from a builders merchants . Or would marbles be pretty but too expensive ? I attached a video ^^ up there.

Mummyshortlegz · 12/11/2016 05:48

Thank you trumpton! I'll pop out later for stones and a vase. I'll look back for the Gideon

Trumpton · 12/11/2016 06:15
