Ok this thread may commence from midnight in honour of Fellatio. I sadly abandoned last years mid run due to pre-eclampsia and early birth of my December baby and therefore fully intend to throw myself fully into this years festivities:

"OK, first of all, I know it's still September by we need to start this thread now because as you all know, having a truly Poncetastic Christmas involves precision planning, strategy, bravery, heroics, and frequently martyrdom. A bit like the war in Afghanistan, only with nicer food and sparkly shoes.

So, if you, like me, actually want to make the next twelve weeks of your life a misery by hand-crafting your cards, finding a huge bucket for Nigella's turkey in brine, pickling pears, shrivelling oranges in a low oven for those rustic au naturel decorations, dragging half a holly bush back from the woods, and just generally being a smug annoying jobsworth ponce, join me on this thread.

Feel free to post photos of previous tree-trimming, cake icing or table centrepiece triumphs, discuss this year's bauble colour themes, debate the merits of Delia versus Gordon, road-test a selection of canapes and cocktails, (all in the line of duty) and link to lovely inspirational photos/craft ideas for a truly Poncetastic Christmas.

Warning: If your idea of a good Christmas involves Pizza, ITV, gravy granules or anything with 'Aunt Bessies' on the packet, this is not the thread for you".

Let's surpass all poncestastic pasts please

Copper ink sounds lovely! I'll go and have a look in the week.

lozabella · 09/10/2016 16:58

Just started our Christmas Vodkas! Apple and cinnamon and Christmas pudding flavour! Bit late but praying they will work in time.

charlybs · 09/10/2016 18:04

Really sad that I'm pregnant. All these Christmas spirits sound so, so delicious haha!

charlybs · 09/10/2016 18:05

(I mean happy that I'm having a baby of course... just.... mulled wine! And Christmassy alcohol!) WineWineWine

I'm not arty (my DSis is though, she got all the Artistic Flair )

I have a prelit wreath (battery, on a timer) I usually add a bit of red ribbon . We have a UPVC door and I got one of the 3M hooks (the Lakeland suction one is less reliable)
This year I might wind some garden ivy round it too, I usually make a small wreath for the inner porch door from ivy but I think I;ll go more on the big one.
I have a bunch of decorative keys that I'm going to spray gold and hang with a poncey ribbon.

Lots of outdoor jars and candles , just collect random big jars , spray with frosted paint spray.
I've got some flameless ones to go in the fireplace .

Like the idea of those tiny lights in a glass vase, need to look for some.

I have made my bramble gin, but fancy making something else too. I have a huge bottle of Bacardi in the cupboard that someone gave us and won't get drunk here (I've been pregnant and/ or breastfeeding since December 2012- so whilst an occasional drink has passed my lips a whole litre of the stuff just isn't going anywhere). Has anyone made flavoured drinks with it? Any popular ones?

Mummyshortlegz · 10/10/2016 13:13

I have made my first Christmas decoration. I'm going to make lots and suspend them at different heights in my hall.

Oooh! That is adorable! Do you have a pattern/tutorial for that?

Mummyshortlegz · 10/10/2016 16:15

www.handimania.com/diy/little-yarn-hats.html Easy peasy. Put a decent amount of wool on, scooch it a few times.

CarrotVan · 10/10/2016 19:46

Pound land has some lovely sets of letter stamps - uppercase, lowercase, numbers/punctuation - sort of art nouveau in style. Lovely for homemade tags, cards and wrapping paper

Chelazla · 10/10/2016 22:37

This is my first real bit of poncing, a place mat for santa and rudolf's treats!!! I'll also be making stockings, this year will be shopkins and probably paw patrol themed! Last year was frozen and lion king! Will also be making my own crackers, knitted advent Calendar, all my cards, bunting, lots of baking and a couple of wreaths! Hopefully a bit more! I love Christmas!!!

Mummyshortlegz that is seriously cute! The year before last I made some miniature balls of wool with cocktail stick knitting needles stuck in them (totally pinched the idea from someone at a craft fair), gave them to people in my knitting group, went down well!

HairsprayBabe · 11/10/2016 09:40

Got my order of bottles through from wares of knutsford last night! I'm going to design the labels tonight and print them at work

FireflyGirl · 11/10/2016 16:25

I now have some christmas liqueur brewing in the cupboard Xmas Grin minus the dried cranberries, as I didn't have any in but I figure I can shove them in later in the week when I get to the shop.

I'm also now gathering ideas for crafts with my toddler. Can they be poncetastic if they've had input from a 1 year old? I have to do a lot of the work for him when it comes to crafting, it must be said Hmm Wink

pontificationcentral · 11/10/2016 16:34

Those hats are hilarious. I've been making them with brownies as a craft for ten years. I am lol they turn up on the poncetastic thread! They are what we always make when we have wool to use up and I need to keep them quiet for an hour...

Mummyshortlegz · 11/10/2016 16:46

Flouncing off with my unponcey hats.:

AmyAmoeba · 11/10/2016 17:33

Has anyone got a link to the original poncetastic thread? I think I've read all of them but I can't seem to find the very first one.

Not much poncing here this week and the kids are demanding Halloween costumes and decorations which seriously eats into my Christmas poncery schedule.

I was living happily without any Christmas stamps and bravely resisting Mrs Pear's temptations and then someone had to go and write the words "copper ink"

Also feeling the pressure to up my game on the Santa treats situation. Loving the placemat!

Chelazla · 11/10/2016 20:48

Ahhhhhh shortlegz I love the hats!!!

MaryJPoppins · 11/10/2016 22:37

I love the hats. I also do them with my brownie group! My sister did lots for her teachers and put a ferrero rocher in side, as long as your use lots of wool it stays put. They went down really well!

pontificationcentral · 11/10/2016 23:15

Oh mummy - they are very cute - the kids always love them! I just didn't expect to see them on here alongside the bramble gin! Using them for ferrero rocher teacher gifts is inspired. I'm sure we could ponce them up a bit more in that department with a homemade artisanal truffle, too Wink I'd love to see your hat bunting when you are done. Are you doing them all in cream?

Trumpton · 12/10/2016 02:05

I ordered my Paperwhite narcissi today . I grow them on sea pebbles in a hurricane vase every year. Mmm smells like Christmas to me.
I have also booked myself into a days basket making workshop for extra poncery.
But I do need to plan my Christmas theme for the sun room where we have our Christmas dinner. Last year it was winter woodland with twigs and snow and birds .

Trumpton · 12/10/2016 02:10

Photo of last years room. Yes I do redecorate every year although I might work around the wallpaper this year as I still love it .
I am thinking of navy voile panels against the windows and glass roof with fairy lights behind and stars hanging from ceiling .

Beautiful decs trumpton

We are having woodland "hunting lodge chic" in the living room and red and white "candy cane lane" upstairs.

DM has Lime green and purple in her living room, traditional red and green in the dining room, purple and gold in the hallway and in the study its 60's style white tree and coloured decs!

Something for everyone and between us we keep The Range and John Lewis in the money!

I am desperately on the hunt for brown tinsel, but every time I ask someone they look at me like Hmm Managed to get a bit from wilko but it was the skinny stuff not the big thick chunky stuff!

Chelazla · 12/10/2016 09:19

Hairspraybabe I think I've found some!! www.2hoursaday.co.uk/acatalog/Rustic_Brown_and_Orange_Christmas_Tinsel.html
