Regular on these threads, have NCed, hopefully it will be obvious who I am!

Ordered kids' PJs too! I'm going to give them on the 1st in the Advent Box. Still thinking I also need something PJish for Xmas Eve though, magical PJs sewn with elf dust to help them sleep and dream extra special dreams!
Still not got my blooming Studio order of personalised Xmas duvet covers though. Argh!

Mummyshortlegz · 20/09/2016 21:54

ONCE I have had a go with my new to me embroidery machine I might make the kids some personalised Christmas blankets. Cheap red fleeces from IKEA..

teablanket · 21/09/2016 07:35

Star 94 Star

It's so close. Grin

HairsprayBabe · 21/09/2016 09:14

Opinions please:
Is it ok if I make a 1st Dec box for myself, even though there are no kiddies in the house?

or is that bordering on sad?

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/09/2016 09:29

Not sad at all. I know you didn't ask for ideas but...

I always put Christmas music on in the car from 1st Dec so perhaps you could have a Christmas CD. A bottle of something nice and festive to help you put the tree up. Some Christmas chocs to scoff after tree decorating marathon. A new tree decoration. An advent calendar - a paper one or a beauty one if you are flush. A festive scented candle.

I'm getting a bit carried away, sorry Blush. We don't even do 1st Dec boxes BlushBlushBlush

BiddyPop · 21/09/2016 09:53

I don't have a box, but I have a few things that come out in very early December for me. And some for DD.

We pull out older festive PJs (if they still fit) and start using those.

DD has a plastic plate and bowl, a glass, and a mug. I have a few Christmas mugs (including one for the office Xmas Grin ). They start getting used from 1st December.

DD has a lovely fleece with a printed Santa scene on it, that goes into the sitting room for her to snuggle under (she always has a blanket of some sort in there), and I occasionally use that when she's in bed!

I get out the Christmas CDs for the car, DVDs for at home (mostly kids movies but I do have "White Christmas" for myself) and get my internet radio stations going again.

Little festive smelling yankee candles to start burning.

DD gets her advent calendar, I don't have one but think about getting one for myself (a pictures one).

My personal treat for the Christmas season is amaretti biscuits (sometimes eaten as I drink a small amaretto liqueur).

Absolutely!!

HandbagCrazy · 21/09/2016 10:59

Can I join? I've been desperately avoiding the Christmas threads trying not to get too excited too early but this morning I put my music on shuffle and listened to 2 Christmas songs and now I've let the festive feeling take over.

How bad would it be to put headphones in, listen to Christmas music and shop for a few Christmas bits on my lunch break?

HairsprayBabe · 21/09/2016 11:51

Excellent I shall do me and DP a nice advent box in that case, Festive Pjs, mugs, michel buble CD, mulled everything sachets, advent candle and new fluffy socks!

I have a nice festive looking box that some candles came in from QVC a few years back so i think this will fill its new role nicely!

He thinks I'm a little mad and cant understand why an adult woman gets so excited Xmas Grin I blame my mother!

Blueisthemagicnumber · 21/09/2016 17:40

I have just bought five of these here

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/09/2016 18:29

Christnas music in headphones sounds good Handbag as long as you don't sing along . Fine to sing along in December , but in September you'll get Xmas Shock looks.

Christmas Dec 1st box- I'm planning some nice chocolates (maybe Hotel Chocolat) some nice bubble bath, and a new jumper to wear on the Friday (I'll be at work on the 1st but it can all wait till I get home)

The Christmas Bedding can go on the beds on the 1st too Xmas Grin

HungryHorace · 21/09/2016 19:31

I had an email invitation from Booths today to go to their Christmas book launch...I'm really annoyed that I'm in Glasgow when it's at my nearest store. Boo!

HandbagCrazy · 21/09/2016 21:45

Blues they are lovely!

70s thanks Xmas Smile
I wandered around the Christmas card section of card factory and the beginnings of the Christmas goodies in Debenhams then bought a few stocking bits from the works I managed half of the Buble Christmas album
I am making a lot of gifts this year and my Christmas savings scheme means I can't touch my Christmas money until the beginning of October so I'm making myself feel better by starting lots of lists.

SideOrderofChip · 21/09/2016 21:47

ChipstheElder has been annoying ChipstheEldest by singing 'Santa Claus is coming to town'

Strangely i feel proud.

HandbagCrazy · 21/09/2016 21:47

Do you have lovely grown up Christmas bedding 70s? It's never occurred to me to get festive bedding as there are no dc in our house but now I like the sound of it.

ConstantlyCooking · 21/09/2016 21:57

Handbag - achia have some v nice festive bedding (as do Primark).
I have special Christmas mugs, bowls, towels, tea towels and oven gloves that get taken out for advent, I also allow myself to listen to Christmas music, watch festive films and read seasonal books as of the first Sunday in advent. I am also allowed mince pies, stollen etc from mid November but not Christmas cake until Christmas. Gingerbread lattes are permitted once a week until Christmas then unlimited until new year. I like looking forward to things :)

Mummyshortlegz · 21/09/2016 21:59

I have two small kids (3 and 1) and I am absolutely doing myself an adult Christmas box!

I'll be doing my annual girly shop on the 26th of November. This involves visiting a chocolate shop and I always buy 4 to eat in the car on the way home. I'll go to a hotel chocolate or similar and buy some for the 1st.

I won a £265 love 2 shop voucher on here this week. Some of that will be shortlegz Christmas box Xmas Grin

Starting to get really excited now! I think I've bought all of the wrapping paper I'll need for this year and I've promised that I'm not going to twitch and buy things I don't need...like that'll happen! Xmas Grin

mimsnet · 22/09/2016 00:02

Also, Mummy that's amazing! Well done Star

Mummyshortlegz · 22/09/2016 08:46

Thanks :-) it was from the sharing a picture of happy moments or something thread. I name changed because of it so now it feels worth it. (I should have used a temp name to post but I forgot)

This evening I am going to Pinterest an adult Christmas box :-)))

HairsprayBabe · 22/09/2016 09:12

I am desperate for some festive bedding but can't find any that is cotton flannel and doesn't look cheap or super girly or costs a bazillion pounds, don't want much do I!

DP is insisting I wait till after spooky Christmas to start wrapping things, but I think the more done now the less I have to do in December and I can just enjoy the festivities and avoid the twitch Xmas Wink

BiddyPop · 22/09/2016 10:15

Blue Those are fab! I am looking at the peacock ones on that site with longing...I may yet break and demand DH gives me the parcel motel account details!

Horace that is disappointing - maybe if you email back and ask if they will be having an event in Glasgow as that is where you will be doing your big purchasing for the next few months? Between Christmas presents, study books and something to keep you from boredom on your looong winter nights....!!

Chips I am impressed with ChipstheElder's repertoire! The Eldest will just have to get used to it, get the Elder to teach BabyChips Xmas Grin

Mummy that's great, and a lovely way to use it!

Hairspray as long as you have good tape that won't peel off by Christmas, go for it! We are all here to get ahead, and then be able to enjoy the festivities Xmas Grin

I haven't thought much about Christmas the past couple of weeks. Too much other stuff going on. Normally, I am starting on my project of "buy the Christmas wine" - I buy 2 nice bottles of white for turkey, a nice bottle of bubbles, and a half bottle of desert wine for with the pudding. It's just DH and I, and we don't necessarily drink it all on the day (in fact - we definitely don't drink it ALL on the day) but it gives us options to have bubbles or just open the white, open a second bottle of white or have the desert wine, or just finish after the first white and have a glass of port (from the cupboard) instead of another bottle. I bought the M&S port last year, just a small bottle, which was very tasty. And for Christmas I am happy to spend maybe €20 a bottle for those few, normally we're under €10 a bottle. But as we're travelling, I don't need that type, just some "party wine" for visitors to the cottage. I might try to organize that soon though, and see if I can get it stored in one of the houses down there (DM, DMIL or my DSis) to save having to buy it at the last minute or add more to the car boot/backseat/roofbox (I am contemplating using both cars - of course it's because we'll be there for 5 days and need to be able to be independent not leaving 1 person stuck miles from civilization!!).

I have a Christmas duvet set for DD's bed - I got it in Penney's(Primark) I think, or else Dunnes Stores, 2 years ago. I'd like a set for us - but we've a superking duvet so it's massive money. And like Hairspray, I don't want anything too cheap or twee or girly or childish for us.

Oh well, I'd better get back to the day job and start earning the money for this extravaganza!!

TheWoollybacksWife · 22/09/2016 10:41

Hairspray Either late on the last thread or earlier on this I posted a link to www.wayfair.co.uk who popped up on my Pinterest advertising Christmas bedding and cushions. I've had a quick look and it seems that this season's stock is still coming in in dribs and drabs but you may find something reasonably priced there.

I need a kick up the bum Grin

I was having a little mooch around town this morning. Popped into Wilko's and bought chocs for the advent calendar and they had a toiletries set perfect for DS - just shower gel and hair gel. Buuuut I'd also bought him some PJs in another shop and they reminded me of some gorgeous ones he wore when he was a toddler and I'm having a moment where I can't reconcile that chubby toddler with a boy who is almost as tall as me and who has a hairstyle ffs.

Pic of gorgeous new PJs attached for heart melting purposes. Nobody is allowed to say he will look like an old man in them or remind me that they will need ironing Grin

Countdown to 2016 - A whole extra day to wait...thread 2!
SideOrderofChip · 22/09/2016 12:04

I bought mine and DH christmas duvet today from studio.

Bah humpug Xmas Grin

Mummyshortlegz · 22/09/2016 13:11

No picture! Or I can't see one anyway.

I think they sound lovely. I'm going to start on the boys stockings. They will be pound shop / Aldi / primark and involve
Book
Colouring stuff
New pants / socks
New flannel
New toothbrush
New small bath toy
A couple of small toys
Dairy free chocolate coins
Satsuma

I'm going to write out my shopping list tonight and make inroads into it. I'm thinking of adults getting a bottle of wine and something I've made. Low budget this year.

Vegangelist · 22/09/2016 21:41

I ordered four xmas duvet sets from Studio weeks ago, two payment dates passed and I've given up and cancelled my order.
