Oh dear Horace not an ideal start!
I have a Christmas event at work I'm trying to organise but everyone thinks it is stupid and a waste of time, so it might just be me with a tray of mince pies and a paper hat on come Monday, bloody grinches...

Mummyreindeerlegz · 13/12/2016 07:57

Preschool performance today. I highly doubt my 3 year old will sit and sing. I've promised him a cake if he does./

HairsprayBabe · 13/12/2016 08:19

For my brothers Nursery performance he was a reindeer, he just sat and sucked his thumb the whole time, he was roman soldier in Reception, I think he preferred that role as he got a spear and shield.

He also got the starring role as Baby Jesus when he was tiny, and I had to carry him in an angel costume (aged 7) down the aisle at church, and plonk him into the lap of a y6 girl being Mary, he screamed the second I gave him to this poor girl, and she quickly gave him back.

I don't think I could manage to carry him now he is 6ft4 and a rugby forward!

Mummyreindeerlegz · 13/12/2016 08:51

Bless I can imagine he wasn't too happy being foisted on someone that wasn't his sister. My younger sister is 16 years younger, I've always enjoyed going to her performances and things. She's at college now so we just coo over her work these days!

Ds2 better play the angel Gabriel at least once in his nativity career. Though I suspect they'll choose an angelic female instead of the authentic one.

Wilf is wearing a nice Christmas jumper and hopefully will remember the songs. I am sitting on the front row so I'll be smiling and mouthing the words. I'm trying to work out whether I should do a speech. I'm the chair of the preschool but we are ceasing being committee run over Christmas and going over to private ownership by a group.

I'm going to IKEA this afternoon to find me a marzipan mould!

BiddyPop · 13/12/2016 09:00

Why did I mention bugs yesterday? I have woken up with that taste at the back of my throat that means I have a sinus infection - which will move into my chest in the next 48-72 hours if it follows the normal pattern in my body.....

Sad
Mummyreindeerlegz · 13/12/2016 09:03

Ah Biddy that sucks. I have had a cold for two full weeks now and I'm coughing and chesty. Much longer and I'll have bronchitis or a chest infection. Most winters I'll have bronchitis a few times, it's exhausting.

Can you get to the GP today?

BiddyPop · 13/12/2016 09:27

I am due there anyway! Smear test (joys!), flu jab (if they will now give it), and renewal of scripts. But I have a feeling this is slightly too early in development for anything except the standard "take it easy, rest lots, drink plenty of water, paracetemol for headache, up your inhalers and come back if you get worse". And of course, no chance of taking it easy this week in particular!

Mummyreindeerlegz · 13/12/2016 11:24

My GP tends to give me those horrid steroid tablets before I'm allowed antibiotics for ny chest. Really irritating as the steroids make me sick.

TheWoollybacksWife · 13/12/2016 12:04

Get better soon everyone that's feeling poorly. I'm mainlining Berocca in an effort to stay healthy.

It seems to be chicken pox that's doing the rounds here and it has decimated the children at the preschool I work at. The staff need to do a bit of skilful recasting as Mary is currently very much a single mother and the single wise man is struggling to carry all the presents!

Just teacher presents left to wrap and three 4" Christmas cakes to ice and decorate and I'm sorted.

HandbagCrazy · 13/12/2016 13:51

My bloody ankle has swollen back up and is aching so no shopping for me today. I've spent the day fighting off a migraine and wrapping presents while the dogs snore around me.

I am hoping I don't pick up a bug, although DH has brought home a cough from the school he works in and my throat has that dry feeling.
We went away for Christmas last year and although I enjoyed it, I had a cough / cold the whole time and where we went was freezing so it was exhausting.

Fingers crossed we all start feeling better soon!

HairsprayBabe · 13/12/2016 17:52

Oh no handbag Flowers for all the ailments! Feel better soon fellow christmas-istas!

Mummyreindeerlegz · 13/12/2016 18:52

Handbag - I have a migraine. Sympathy.

Guitargirl · 13/12/2016 19:51

Crikey - it's like the walking wounded in this thread! Flowers for everyone feeling poorly. I am still battling on with dental issues but am telling myself that the nice bottle of red which have just opened is going to fix everything Xmas Grin.

I finished writing my cards yesterday but the DCs still need to do theirs. I went Christmas shopping after work today for presents for my SIL which will be posted at the end of the week. Am meeting up with a friend for our Christmas lunch tomorrow and to swap presents for our DCs. My friend's children are massively into YouTube so I went to the YouTube Creator store at Kings Cross which I didn't even know existed until yesterday. I bought my SIL's presents from St Pancras and weirdly I figured out that I could have done most of my Christmas shopping at St Pancras/Kings Cross train stations Blush. It's so nice there these days. The man in the queue in front of me spending 300 quid Xmas Shock in the Cath Kidston shop seemed to be doing all his Christmas shopping in one go - and getting the poor assistant to individually giftwrap every item...

I seem to still have lots to organise/sort out before next week. It's my work Christmas lunch on Thursday so need to wrap my Secret Santa for that. And still need to finish off DCs' presents and DP's and meet a deadline at work. [sigh].

HandbagCrazy · 13/12/2016 20:58

Mummy How are you feeling? Do you take anything for your migraine? I've beaten mine (for now) with lots and lots of water, forcing down toast and high (prescription) dose soluble aspirin. Took most of the day though.

I'm a little bit sad. As I felt so rubbish I parked myself on the sofa, put one set of fairy lights on the tree and slowly wrapped presents. As I started to feel better I watched muppets Christmas carol then listened to the Buble album but I've now run out of things to wrap Xmas Sad
I know people moan about it but I genuinely enjoy it. I've slept walked through it - so I've offered to do it all for my friend who's just had a baby (a week ago) and is run off her feet with newborn and toddler Xmas Grin

Mummyreindeerlegz · 13/12/2016 21:11

Codeine and tramadol are my go to. I forced down some food and lay in the dark and I just have the pain behind the eyes. I will feel like shit tomorrow I know.

HungryHorace · 14/12/2016 07:38

10 🌟🎄🌟🎄Xmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Smile

Too much illness around. I hope everyone recovers soon.

I wrapped the last few Scotland presents last night and wrote my cards (and posted the ones which need posting this morning).

All that's left is recording the message for the M&S biscuits, wrapping those and one other tin, wrapping my mum's birthday presents, writing 3 birthday cards and wrapping 5 calendars. Hmmmm. Feels like a lot still to do! But I finish on Friday. It's fine!

MrsDilligaf · 14/12/2016 08:47

Hi everyone. We've been crazy busy over the last few days and I think I'm just about done!!

M is being a horror at the moment - she is just about crawling, pulling herself up on the furniture, destroying her cot, and stealthily ninja rolling under the Christmas tree.

I had a mini meltdown yesterday and wailed to DH that I was rubbish at being a mum because she really pushed my buttons. He is taking the mini-beast out this afternoon so I can get on with my mega list.

Fingers crossed she co-operates today!

otherwise I'll be on the sherry by 10!

Mummy I hope you're not feeling too awful today Flowers If you're anything like me, when I have an awful one i have a hangover type thing the next day

Hungry That's a perfectly doable to-do list! I'm intrigued by 'recording the message for the M&S biscuits'?
I'm so jealous you finish on Friday for Christmas. How long do you have off?

MrsD How is your day going? I hope M is being all cute and making you wonder if you imagined the horrors of yesterday?

I am just about to brave my local town to do the shopping I was supposed to do yesterday. It's manic there so I'm dreading it - just trying to park is going to test me I think!

HungryHorace · 14/12/2016 10:25

M&S have tins of biscuits you can record a message on so you hear it when the lid is opened! But we now need to get two toddlers to oblige! 😂

Good luck and god speed, Hairspray!

HungryHorace · 14/12/2016 10:26

Or Handbag, even! 😁

Mummyreindeerlegz · 14/12/2016 18:33

Yep hangover the day after a migraine for me too. It hasn't been too bad but random waves of nausea through the day.

I've just made wineapples for the preschool key workers. Preschool breaks up tomorrow!

HandbagCrazy · 14/12/2016 21:12

Thanks Horace. I survived (but only just after a very determined lady tried to run me over with her pull along trolley thing). Parking was a nightmare and I abandoned the idea of an Aldi shop on the way home due to my ankle but apart from that it was a success.

Mummy I love your wineapples! I would love DH to bring one home as a teacher present (have had baileys and chocolate so far).
The hangover feeling is awful isn't it? I have no advice except to hydrate yourself a lot. I also use gel masks on my head and eyes which I keep in the fridge and use socks on/off to control my temp as if fluctuates madly the day after Confused

HungryHorace · 15/12/2016 08:23

Single bloody figures....Woooooo!

Xmas GrinXmas SmileXmas Shock🎄🎄😀😀🎄🎄😀😀🎄🎄

I hope everyone is well today. I'm off home tonight on an evening train and will work from home tomorrow morning (half day) then I'm done until 28th Dec. Whoop!!

HairsprayBabe · 15/12/2016 08:55

Bloody hell single figures!

it feels like were on day 99 just yesterday! Where has the time gone?! Why am I not ready yet! Two more days at work after today and then I am FREEEEEEEEEEE for two weeks!

BiddyPop · 15/12/2016 09:31

I hope all the hangover feelings are gone today, its worse if its not even after a good night out! Flowers My sinuses are still cruddy, but I am KOKOing. Berocca, sinutab, asthma meds, exputex, I'm almost a walking chemist today. But it is working so far to keep me upright and functioning. Someone said about ABs and steroids - my GP wants to go ABs first, steroids are more the last resort when my lungs have dropped below their usual "80 year old granny" level (I don't generally actually run, but I tend to walk fast and get things done, and go to GP who says how am I even standing with such low levels - I'd love to actually get up to a "normal" level for someone close to my age!).

Last night, I was supervising DD wrapping. She is now finished Xmas Envy and everything is under the tree. Although she intends bagging them up in categories tonight by the different houses they are going to (sensible - I do it myself!), including a separate bag for the cottage, as she has announced that the 3 of us will be opening our presents together on Christmas morning before heading out to the other 2 houses. It's not what we normally do, but we wouldn't be back there in the afternoon and I think it's nice that she's thinking about it and wants to have some quiet family time doing it together! (I am intrigued to see what DH will do - as his present to me is already in use - I now have lovely dry feet launching Dd's boat at the weekends, twas getting a bit chilly for wet ones!).

I have only wrapped 5 presents so far - the ones I needed to send down home last weekend as I won't see DSis on the day. But I should be ok. Next week has quieter nights.

Today, I am going to focus on lists - clothes for the 5 days (so they can be clean and start laying them out over the weekend), other things to pack from home, and a groceries list for Christmas Eve when we arrive.

I love the wineapples! I need to do a present for the SNA in the classroom (assigned to another DC but helps DD quite a bit), DD picked something for her resource teacher but she's already left on mat leave (2 weeks early - but I think the office can get it to her). I only have about 4 more to buy for a couple of DAunts and Uncles, and 1 DBIL.

And thanks to the wonderful Vipers on this board with loads of ideas, I will probably make a pavlova base and a Christmas Pudding shaped chocolate biscuit cake at the weekend for Christmas Day dessert, I also need to make at least 2 more batches of cookies, and possibly weigh out the makings of buns, and of pancakes, for the cottage too. But I have Saturday afternoon free for that!

It will all come together.
