Oooh, can I join in please? I love Christmas! Sort of lost the will with it when DCs were much younger but now at 3 and 5 they are more into the whole thing and less likely to pull all baubles off the tree.

As it happens, I will spend part of day 100 to go planning a Christmas Party (at least, I hope we get that far down the agenda!). The Cub Scout leaders are meeting in my house, to drink Belgian Beer and plan the autumn schedule etc, and I have Christmas Party down as the last meeting in December.

Tonight, I just hope to get back on track, as I had not 1 but 2 plumbers trying to fix a problem last night!! So my entire evening plans went down the drain. (sorry couldn't resist Grin )

I had intended bringing DD out for dinner (just us 2), then tackling my wardrobe as part of "Master Bedroom" week. Instead, I just got a headache from the language (we know plumber 1 well - we'd all had frustrating days and the system just gave him an awful night as well!) and dealing with DD, ordered her a pizza, and cooked myself some veggies after 9 when the house was quiet. Which needed a splash of white wine so the bottle had to be opened (most of it is still in the fridge, but I did take 1 glass for quality control purposes!).

I got a nice bundle of little stocking fillers for DD so that is now done apart from some hair bobbins, fruit, sweets and a book. We put a deposit on a bike with her approval on Saturday, which is her birthday present from us. And I got a car boot liner as part of DF's gardening hamper present.

But I need to get my head in gear about the rest of my list - there's a lot left to do...

HairsprayBabe · 14/09/2016 10:46

I have 26 gifts left to buy
plus stuff for DP and i rarely count that XD it would be too shameful!

Had a perfect gift idea for MIL but SIL bought her the exact thing for her birthday just gone so now I will really have to get my thinking cap on or she will end up with my go to gift for her - Yankee Candle! Which she loves but I always get her one don't wish to appear lazy in thought!

Guitargirl · 15/09/2016 14:44

TheWoolly - that book looks like an ideal gift for my Mum as it combines her 2 great loves.

I booked our Harrods Christmas grotto tickets today, I was preparing for the annual stress-fest that is trying to get tickets but I was pleasantly surprised at how straightforward it was this time. This will be our 10th year in a row Xmas Shock but possibly our last as I can't believe DD will still believe next year (although I thought that last year too).

Humidseptember · 15/09/2016 15:03

Xmas boards are a GO now arnt they Grin threads moving down quickly and HARRODS grotto opened booking today. Grin

guitar just seen your post, what was available this year> what tier are you - we are green Sad

I didnt bother after last year but perhaps I should take a look.

How good is it?

Guitargirl · 15/09/2016 15:16

We are green tier too, I only ever buy anything there at Christmas time Xmas Grin.

I booked a week night in December, we usually go after school and have tea out somewhere. One year we went and had ridiculously expensive Snowman themed ice-cream in Harrods.

I found the available times had much more of a choice this year than in previous years. The last few years we have only been able to get November slots for instance.

Humidseptember · 15/09/2016 16:01

what a shame - thanks may check it out later...sounds lovely

I nicted they seemed to have re done their tea area up stairs near toy dept? seemed much nicer up there?

One Hundred Days

Squuuuuuuuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeee it's feeling real Xmas Grin

We'll need a Poncetastic Thread soon too.

Now that the DC are back to school/sixth form I can spend my Non Work Day (which DH calls my "Day Off" even though I work just as hard at home as I do at work) getting things sorted.

PLAN:

get the pile of books to the Charity Shop
get the outgrown/unworn shoes/clothes out
sort out wardrobes to cull
have a looksie in Costco, they'll be getting their Christmas stock in Xmas Grin

Star 100 Star (sorry, know it's already been done, just felt like doing it again!)

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/09/2016 22:06

Big few days coming up in the Woolly household. Wedding anniversary tomorrow and then DD1 heads off to start her masters on Sunday.

This means that next week I'll have the house to myself during the week apart from the two days I'm in work and I can crack on with my plans.

DD1 passed her driving test this week and was looking longingly at the sat navs in Halfords yesterday so I think Santa may bring one. DH isn't convinced she needs one but I'm in charge of present buying Xmas Grin and at 20+ it's hard enough to think of things to buy her.

Mummyshortlegz · 16/09/2016 15:40

I've just booked Kew at Christmas for twixmas week. My boys are both under 4 so free but will love seeing the lights and fire.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/09/2016 18:18

I went to Costco today but they had NOTHING Christmassey in

Had to make do with binbags'n'bumpaper Xmas Hmm . Just not cricket !

DD is dragging me to Larndan this weekend, I might be able to have a sneaky peak into Selfridges Christmas Dept.

Guitargirl · 16/09/2016 18:21

70 - IME this time of year is good to go and have a peek at Liberty's Christmas department. It starts to look a bit empty and used by December but is still all nice & sparkly now.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/09/2016 19:14

Xmas Grin ooh we'll be on Oxford Street so I'll have a look there
Thanks !

ConstantlyCooking · 17/09/2016 00:03

M and S near Oxford Circus has Christmas cards and wrap downstairs (plus beautiful cashmere jumpers). They also have some half-price posh chocs and biscuits.
