Beat me to it Vegan Xmas Grin

MrsDilligaf · 06/11/2016 07:45

Vegan

Do you have a B & M near you? They might have some Christmas duvet sets. Why not just buy one for 6yo this year - toddler won't understand anyway and pick one up next year for them?

Waves to LaChatte

We had our annual fireworks bash last night - house is totally trashed which strangely isn't bothering me. It means that I can deep clean the kitchen especially ready for CHRISTMAS

Full steam ahead in the Dilligaf Household Xmas Grin

I gave him the cold shoulder for the rest of the evening then we acted as if nothing had happened the following day Vegan , I don't even know where the bloody present is!

I've given up on getting new Christmas pyjamas for everyone, DS doesn't wear them --because he sleeps in his clothes , DD sleeps naked even in sub zero temperatures and DH and I have more pairs of pjs than you can shake a stick at.

I would dearly love a new Xmas duvet set but think I'm going to have to make the old one do for another year. I will however be getting a throw for the sofa to go with the Xmas colour scheme this year (red), I saw that IKEA do really cheap ones. They sometimes have winter style duvet sets vegan , maybe worth a look online?

70 best place for jumpers last year was H&M, they had plenty of choice, I won't be getting any new ones as last year's ones are still going strong (cat with antlers and a red nose, covered with sequins anyone?)

ClashCityRocker · 06/11/2016 12:28

Another one sticking to last years jumper. It's a rather fetching sky blue with snowflakes and reindeers.

My mother (and by extension, brother) have still not let me know if they're coming Sad

ClashCityRocker · 06/11/2016 13:07

For Christmas dinner, I mean. I know I'm being unreasonable Grin but I want to do my timetable for the day I know and I can't until I know. Both mine and Dhs family live locally, so if they come it means we can nip and see his in the morning.

If they don't, we'll have to fit both in which isn't a problem, just means the timings need sorting.

Also, if they don't come it'll just be me and dh which will be lovely, but I won't bother with home made bread and cranberry sauce and stuffing as he doesn't eat these things and it's too much faff to do for one.

Vegangelist · 06/11/2016 17:25

MrsD, was in B&M today, didn't see a duvet set, but thanks.
I have considered just getting for the kids, but I think he will wonder why the rest of us aren't getting them too (I do a few gifts for DH and I, and stockings or he'll question why Santa forgot us).

LaChatte, hope DH and you are having a nice day now. Silly man!
I'll look at Ikea, thanks!

Asda have lots of festive clothing in.

Clash, a little - try and relax a bit for now! We have SIL still to let us know if she's coming, but I'm not too worried about timings, we don't have anything else to do or places to be, she'll slot in or not!

TheWoollybacksWife · 06/11/2016 18:36

Fellow Yankee Candle lovers - you can use the code FRIEND2016 today only to get 20% off on the Clinton's website. According to the email it gives you 20% off everything, not just candles.

autumnintheair · 06/11/2016 19:59

You tuned out guitar tut tut Grin I just cant imagine what there would be to see? is he on a computer does he talk mine craft? i cant get my head round it.

70 I got some exquisite villery and boch toy range china from TK max this year, I already have some spode Christmas stuff.

we have a tk max and homesense close together and there didnt seem to be anything in the tk max, it was all at the homesense, but its this years fav shop for me.

One year it was ikea ( when they had the trad xmas toy stuff - incl wrapping) last year Matalan did it for me with their nutcracker theme but this year - without a doubt - HS.

Also thrilled to hear Liberty store is doing nutcracker theme in their windows this year, I am also going all out nutcracker.

I already have some but got a mouse king and sugar plum fairy to add.

autumnintheair · 06/11/2016 20:01

le chatte last year and year before H and M did lovely jumpers didnt they.

I have seen a few this year all over but nothing is stand out.

Mummyshortlegz · 07/11/2016 07:59

47 we all went to the range yesterday to look at Christmas decorations again. Wilf (aged 3) was so excited he made up a song about going there. Dh has agreed to get all the Christmas stuff down so we can decide what we need. He agreed on several of my requests and suggested some!

LaylaTheMiddleAgedWitch · 07/11/2016 08:14

Never thought of The Range for decorations! I'm looking for a garland for my staircase and one for my fireplace.

Shall tootle over there when my son is better.

HairsprayBabe · 07/11/2016 08:57

ooh I love the Range it's like a wonderland!

Still not feeling very good but have dragged myself to work as I have to go to conference in Glasgow for the next three days and I can't miss it. It is due to snow Tuesday night there so I am going to try and get some lovely snowy photos to release on my insta throughout December still a teenager on the inside

Went to the Hobbycraft Crafts for Christmas at the NEC yesterday, felt vommy the whole time but it was lovely to get into the spirit of things in RL. Got lots of "merry christmas!" wishes from sellers!

HungryHorace · 07/11/2016 11:55

Don't tell me it's going to snow in Glasgow, Hairspray! I work up there and go back tomorrow until Friday. I can't be doing with snow! ☃️☃️☃️

I landed back in the UK this morning; back to reality!

Thank you to everyone for their birthday wishes while I was away. 🍾🍰🍾🍰

BiddyPop · 07/11/2016 11:57

Hungry I hope you had a great birthday trip!! (Sorry about the lights though, that sounds like an excellent reason to go again!).

Hi everyone else, I was away for work for 2 days, then with Cubs, and I was a zombie last night (we only got to bed at 3.30am in a vain attempt to ensure no mad capers by the kids - they weren't wild but there were middle of the night escapes from the hostel window to shine a torch into other bedrooms, midnight feasts and excursions to other bedrooms which weren't sanctioned - but no real problems, just high jinks).

I gave my DM her Christmas present as her birthday present instead. I couldn't remember what or where her birthday one was, and had to find something in a hurry for Wednesday night (before a 6am flight Thursday) so I'll find something different now. The restaurant she'd booked was running a wine tasting dinner - so it was interesting getting home (slightly tipsy) at near midnight and getting up again at 4 - just glad I'd booked a taxi rather than driving in the end!

I'm trying to decide whether to "waste" €40 and buy 2 "Driving home for Christmas" t-shirts for DH and I, or not. I think DD would love it, he'd probably roll his eyes but might wear it - but not be impressed if I had a matching one on (we are constantly wearing almost identical stuff at the moment unintentionally - so intentionally doing it would be really bad!).

Anyway, I am off to make a cup of tea as it's bloomin' freezin' here, winter has definitely started! I hope that bodes well for a crisp cold Christmas at least, and hopefully a snowy one - but crisp and cold would be a good start. Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Last year was too wet and miserable and not even cold just muggy and uuuugggghhh!!! Xmas Sad

BiddyPop · 07/11/2016 11:58

Soory Hungry - I started writing my post at 10am and got distracted by people coming into my office!

HungryHorace · 07/11/2016 12:10

I do that all of the time! We had a great trip (aside from some hire vehicle issues which are going to be complained about now we are back) and the kids had a fantastic time too.

I'd do the matching tops thing with DH. Though maybe not if it cost €40! That's a touch dear!

BiddyPop · 07/11/2016 12:51

It's €20 each - which is not that much more than I'd normally spend on a top/tshirt, but far less chance to use it (although I do re-use my Christmas jumpers quite a few times and over a good few years, so this would be the same). I am torn and will sleep on it (by which time they may well have sold out so decision will be made for me!)

ConstantlyCooking · 07/11/2016 13:11

I went back to ikea yesterday and they definitely have lots of nice Christmas bits in.
Costco had lots of Nutcracker themed decorations when I was there a few weeks ago.
Must get back to work now Xmas Grin

HairsprayBabe · 07/11/2016 15:50

Oop sorry hungry but there is heavy snow forcast for tuesday evening in glasgow!
Im currently en route, trying not to puke on the train, i have felt so sicky for days now Xmas Sad

Guitargirl · 07/11/2016 16:24

Hello all, I went for a mooch around Oxford/Regent Street today. Am trying not to do any weekend shopping now as it's bad enough on a Monday morning.

I bought some stationery bits and pieces from Libertys and foodie bits and pieces from Selfridges for stockings. I also bought my Mum the Charlotte Tilbury advent calendar which looks lovely. I was trying to decide between that one, the Clinique one or the Selfridges one. But the Selfridges one looked a bit 'young' - one of the products included a hair bobble which my Mum would never wear.

I also ended up buying my younger cousin a present which am going to end up giving her for Christmas 2017 Blush. I have already bought her some make-up from Benefit and I was just looking for a little extra to go with it. I picked up this (photo attached).

And then I went to pay for it I realised it cost 50 pounds Shock Shock. 50 quid for some fricking sponges! I was too embarrassed to put it back. So, am going to keep it back until next year I think!

John Lewis windows still covered over presumably for the big reveal this week(?) of the advert.

Countdown to 2016 - A whole extra day to wait...thread 2!
TheWoollybacksWife · 07/11/2016 17:05

Guitar ShockShock but that might explain why DD2 was upset with her big sister last week. DD1 used one of them (with DD2's permission) to do DS's Halloween face paint.

DD2 now knows that black face paint and expensive makeup sponges are not a good combination. Sad

Guitargirl · 07/11/2016 17:35

Have been caught out in Selfridges before on prices. They aren't very good at displaying how much things cost (wonder why?).

Still, have learnt my lesson this time!

ClashCityRocker · 07/11/2016 19:17

£50 Shock

I'm quite lucky that no one I buy for is into makeup - I'd be rubbish at it!

Trying to find an excuse to go to the range this weekend...I do love their decorations. There's always such a good selection, rather than some stores who seem to go for certain themes.

It's also very cold here, and they've got some of the winter lights up (I think maybe because of divali? Or has that been and gone?) so it felt very festive walking home.

Vegangelist · 07/11/2016 21:19

£50 for sponges??? What?!

Biddy, do the matching jumpers, it will be cute!

I'm looking for nice writing paper that Santa will send letters to my kids on - will The Range have any? If not, where? Help! (High Street please, ideally, so I can see it. Hard to tell online.)

And I think I will just get the kids the duvet covers rather than all four of us. Still torn, but I'm gonna post this message now I've written it and see how I feel!!!

I'm hoping for snow tomorrow!

TheWoollybacksWife · 07/11/2016 21:49

This letter to Santa set is in Wilko's Vegan I'll have another try to find some on The Range website but I keep getting an annoying Java script pop up.
