Yup! Just too busy recently to post much, and while I celebrated 40, I only tend to slightly mark most birthdays (DH completely forgot until we were in the train to the hotel over the weekend!! But he's making up for it with a very naice present to cover Christmas and birthday combined Xmas Grin ).

I am looking forward to some quiet time, not this or next weekend but the weekend of 19th November, when I may get a chance to see some foodie things. I did find that True Movies has done its annual change to True Christmas last week - again, not that I have time to sit and watch anything much, but I know I watched a few smaltzy ones last year which cheered me up!

HungryHorace · 02/11/2016 12:42

Happy birthday, Biddy!

Loads of us Scorpios around as I'm 40 on Saturday. 😄 We are flying to Iceland tomorrow to celebrate!

BiddyPop · 02/11/2016 13:27

OOOooh, Happy 40th Horace!! Very envious of the Iceland trip - it's on our list (we got to Cape Cod for DH's 40th, and skiing for mine! but Iceland is still on our wishes list).

One thing I read about Scorpios in the past was that their magnetic personalities meant they attracted lots of iron filings (!) and friends Grin - I wonder is that part of why we're all here?!

Vegangelist · 02/11/2016 13:59

Happy Bday, Biddy.

HH, have a fantastic birthday in Iceland.

MrsD, 42 is young! I'm 42 too! Xmas Wink I had my daughter last year, lots of my friends our age are just having babies too. I don't feel old. Extra good luck again ttc!

HungryHorace · 02/11/2016 16:03

We've been to Iceland before, on honeymoon. We are taking the kids with us this time, which will be fun!

Magnetic personality?! Might explain the fact I attract every weirdo going on public transport! 😂😂

ConstantlyCooking · 02/11/2016 18:06

Happy birthday biddy
Horace: we went to Iceland for my (says it quietly and quickly) 50th this year it was great and there was even a Christmas shop!

HungryHorace · 02/11/2016 18:46

Ooh. A Christmas shop?! I'll be in there. I've a feeling that'll go down better with the family than the penis museum! 😂

ClashCityRocker · 02/11/2016 18:58

Happy birthday biddy and happy birthday for Saturday horace

Apparently JL Christmas ad will be aired on Friday and I heard a rumour it's a Winnie the Pooh one. Tbh I don't get them, but everyone in my office is obsessed. At least last years had a good message though I guess.

My Christmas delivery shop at morrisons is booked and it had most of the Christmas stuff available to pick, so that's the veggies and Xmas eve buffet ordered. Still slightly nervous about not having enough stock but have never had a problem before.

And I suppose I've got time to pop out and get anything missing. Last time I hosted it felt like tescos was my second home in the run up so determined to avoid it this time!

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/11/2016 20:13

Winnie-the-Pooh you say Clash - that'll cheer poor DD2 up. She has a kidney infection and has been illing on the sofa for the last two days. W-t-P is her favourite - I had to surgically remove ask her to put her Winnie onesie in the wash before it walked there on its own.

I may have missed this being discussed earlier but I found out yesterday that Smooth Xmas isn't broadcasting this year Xmas Sad. My car has got an all singing/all dancing digital radio but no CD player, so I'll have to connect my phone if I want Christmas music.

My Christmas cakes were baked today and will mature until I get my backside in gear to ice them. I was very tempted to try a bit of the mixture but I am low carbing to try to avoid looking like a Christmas pudding on my work night out. They smelt bloomin' gorgeous though.

nickdrakeslovechild · 03/11/2016 09:14

51 So excited to go shopping irl tomorrow as the shops should now be filled with Christmas things, nice PJ's are on the list.

It's beautiful here today really frosty and sunny, the trees are so beautiful this year I cant remember when they were so colourful.

HairsprayBabe · 03/11/2016 09:46

Yes! I love new festive PJs! I have seen some in Matalan I have my eye on, hoping I will be a smaller size before christmas so I am holding off getting them for now!

Oh Woolly hope your DD feels better soon Brew Chocolate

MrsDilligaf · 03/11/2016 09:53

Horace I will wish you a happy birthday for Saturday now. Hope you have a lovely day Cake Flowers

Clash I keep popping onto Tesco to change the order date for my Christmas shop so far it's only up until the end of November. I'm planning ahead to get it on 23rd so if there are any problems I can pop out and "hopefully" avoid any disasters. I remember waking up at silly o'clock last year and going to Tesco for sprouts. I was convinced that my mother would forget and so I waddled around tesco, hugely pregnant, panic buying all sorts of random stuff at 4 in the morning.

Woolly I need to do my cake ASAP. Will likely be the beginning of next week now but I am very much looking forward to cracking open the Bailey's and having a bake up with Mr Bublé.

Nick beautiful morning here too. But very cold! Like a wally I took some washing out to the garage to plonk in the dryer...note to self - pyjamas are not appropriate outside clothes.

Well the Christmas festivities will start after this weekend - we are hosting our annual Bonfire Night Bash and so we've got a house full of friends, Mr D has finished decorating the bathroom (YAY goodbye hideous brown paint!) and I have Zoflora'd the house with Orange and Cranberry. It smells beautifully festive here.

HandbagCrazy · 04/11/2016 09:15

50 days Xmas Shock Xmas Shock Xmas Shock

I am still off work sick (against my will but dr refuses to let me go back yet) and lost yesterday to a migraine so today is a clean the house then do some Christmas crochet Xmas Smile I'm making various Christmas garlands for family members as presents (not to mention finishing my own) and making a blanket for DH. I may indulge in some cheesy Christmas film while I'm working.

Xmas Blush

Happy Belated Birthday Biddy
And Happy Birthday for tomorrow Horace

Xmas Grin Cake

I'm planning to go out but I'm entranced with my new White Appliances (Miele Washing Machine) which is settling into its test run before it tackles The Washing Mountain (is there a NSPWM? ^National Soceity for the Protection of Washing Machines? ) it'll be on speed dial Wink

I want to go off to Costco to get the Christmas things before they change stock .

Fifty Days eh?
Once Guy Fawkes is a done deal, it'll be Full Speed Ahead , (pause for my DS Birthday) Yeahhh!

TheWoollybacksWife · 04/11/2016 09:32

Hope you get better soon Handbag. I'm going to join you on the crocheting sofa. DD2 is getting better slowly but she has tonsillitis too now so is still feeling crap. She spent the day on the sofa watching Christmas films yesterday. That's my girl! Xmas Grin DH is working from home so I can't hooverthat's my excuse and I'm sticking to it and apart from a quick wipe round in the bathrooms I'm on top of everything else.

ConstantlyCooking · 04/11/2016 10:11

Clash here is the link to the Christmas book thread I started in October
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/Christmas/2745510-can-we-start-a-christmas-books-thread?

I had to go to Ikea yesterday to buy a mattress and just wandered past some of the Christmas stuff - accidentally bought some new decorations to add to the Nordic themed mantlepiece Xmas Grin

I have to go to John Lewis today to pick up a radiator so might need a quick stop in their Christmas department as well.

When I was a child I always started my Christmas countdown after Guy Fawkes.

Mummyshortlegz · 04/11/2016 10:47

Thinking of taking the kids to IKEA and the range so we can go and look at the Christmas bits. I got a hobby craft voucher for my birthday so I'm going to go and buy wool and make a scarf for someone for Christmas. If it goes well and fast enough I'll make more.

MrsDilligaf · 04/11/2016 10:48

Would anyone like a slightly grumpy vomity baby? She comes complete with an emerging tooth, a well chewed blanket and an addiction to cbeebies.

I look like a zombie. The child won't sleep and won't go in her chair, won't let me leave the room, and so I am behind on all the prep for tomorrow.

To make matters worse DH is also poorly. He came in from work yesterday and went straight to bed. Unheard of for him.

Alternatively can I just come and live with one of you and leave the poorly sick people here?

TheWoollybacksWife · 04/11/2016 11:25

I don't think you'd want to come here MrsD Xmas Grin You will be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. I can offer a perpetually moody sick teenager, a Minecraft obsessed 9 year old and the Grinch. I have lebkuchen and plenty of champagne though I may need it before the weekend is out

HandbagCrazy · 04/11/2016 17:46

Woolly Thank you! How is your dd2 feeling? I am under dr's instructions not to exert myself (and I have told DH this includes hoovering / mopping / cleaning the bathroom) Xmas Grin

Constantly Was ikea Christmas stuff lovely?DH refuses to go there with me a I hate the drive but I imagine wanting to buy everything.

MrsD You're very welcome here! No dc, lots of Christmas films / music / crafts and my illness isn't contagious at all, just requires me resting lying on the sofa with my feet up a lot.
We also have a fully stocked booze cabinet Wine

Mummyshortlegz · 04/11/2016 17:51

We had fun looking at the Christmas stuff in the range. I wanted lots of it!!
