DP is working tonight so I'm staying in looking after DS - I know its not a big deal but feel as though I've gone from being party animal to 80-year-old in matter of months! I probably won't even manage to stay awake till midnight!

Going to PILs first thing tomorrow so wonderful start to new year (not!)

we've been away for 3 days visiting, only got home last night. going to the park later with friends then to theirs for roast dinner but we'll be back home by 8 at the lastest. am quite looking forward to sitting in our own sitting room with dh and a glass of port. might even see if we can make it all the way through watching pirates of the caribbean, dead mans chest again. watched it twice now and both times fell asleep half way through so we've still not seen the end. even both jonny depp and orlando couldn't keep me awake

i think when you've got little ones, new years eve looses its appeal ones things like babysitters, getting up early, lack of sleep full stop, come into it.

happy new year by the way, x.

lucykate · 31/12/2006 09:33

sorry about all the typos , must spellcheck, new years resolution

DimpledThighs · 31/12/2006 09:34

why not have an evening of focusing on yourself?

candle lit bath
favourite tipple
nice food / chocs
what you want on the telly

don't think about others partying, think about this stage of your life and what it means and what the next year holds.

don't feel like this is it your life is over, this is a stage - it will pass and there will be fab new year parties at your place when your children are teenagers!

KathH · 31/12/2006 09:35

I'm on my own too - dh is working as well

hippmummy · 31/12/2006 09:37

yes - we had a weekend planned away with friends but DS2 is having a horrific stage of night/early waking and I can't face the thought of it in someone elses house
So DH and DS1 have gone (no point us all suffering ) and I have the pleasure of going to bed at 9.00 so I can get some sleep before the monster wakes me 3 times tonight and wants to get up at 4.00!

S88AHG · 31/12/2006 10:46

My dh has been at work since yesterday morning and isnt coming home until tomorrow morning, I will be at work till 11pm when someone comes in early so we can go home for new year, I will be here on my own other than dc s in bed asleep!!! Not too fussed really never did the getting drunk at new year thing anyway, but seems a bit sad to be on my own. Maybe if we stay logged on here we wont feel alone!!!!

SecondhandRose · 31/12/2006 10:50

I am on my own too, DH in Aust. watching us lose the cricket.

astonishedandamazed · 31/12/2006 10:54

bettythebuilder · 31/12/2006 10:59

yes - dd will be in bed (until the fireworks wake her up, no doubt!) and Dh is on a night shift.

Wallace · 31/12/2006 11:00

Have been invited out but couldn't get a baby sitter

ballbaby · 31/12/2006 11:00

I'm so glad not to be going out in all the wind and rain - thank god for kids

Have just re-read this and now feel really ancient

unknownrebelbang · 31/12/2006 11:01

Another home alone - children aside.

DH should actually finish work at midnight. Can't see it myself.

unknownrebelbang · 31/12/2006 11:24

Nope, he's just informed me his shift's been altered and he's working til 1 am.

bettythebuilder · 31/12/2006 11:42

Clayhead · 31/12/2006 16:29

Yes, dh at work.

mumeeee · 31/12/2006 16:38

I'm not on my own as my DH,DD2 17 and DD3 14 are here.
but this is the first year that DD1 19 hasn't been around. She was home for Christmas but has gone back to her house she shares with 4 uni friends and will be going round to her boyfriends shared house for a party tonight. I feel really strange without her.
