DP is working tonight so I'm staying in looking after DS - I know its not a big deal but feel as though I've gone from being party animal to 80-year-old in matter of months! I probably won't even manage to stay awake till midnight!

Going to PILs first thing tomorrow so wonderful start to new year (not!)

yep on my own with dd x3 and ds as dh left us on Fri. Happy new year not!

unknownrebelbang · 31/12/2006 16:43

Betty, he's a policeman.

nikkie · 31/12/2006 16:53

Yay , my Mam has offered to drop a chinese off when she gets hers later

HazelnutsDoesNotDrink · 31/12/2006 17:19

longwaytogotobethlehem {{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you. Not a great end to the year and a start to a new one.

This is going to be the 2nd year on my own apart for DC who will be in bed.
I will most likely be lurking around MN (this is my first year with MN) and watching the TV. And most likely thinking to myself as well

nutcracker · 31/12/2006 17:25

Me, first year on my own.

Kids will be in bed and I will be on here with wine in hand.

Fauxpas · 31/12/2006 17:43

Well not strictly, ds 5 and dd 20 here but much rather be in with dc, tv, mn, treats and comfort than being in some overpriced dump being drenched in alcohol, squeezed like sardines then walking the streets for nearly another yr trying to get a taxi home.

Ps
Love dimpledthighs post.

bonkerz · 31/12/2006 17:45

DH working here too so am on my own. Spent last new years eve in hospital with DD who was a week old at the time. Have a few bottles of malibu so will probably start drinking as soon as kids in bed and order take away if i can find one open that delivers!!!!

new years resolution is to make sure next new years eve we have a bug party here!!!!

bettythebuilder · 31/12/2006 17:47

crikey, longwaytogo, that's rotten.

Unknownrebel, at my nosyness - I just wondered what occupation would give a shift alteration at such a late date!

unknownrebelbang · 31/12/2006 17:50

Lol, Betty, no worries. Although, not only shift change, location change too.

Aw Longwaytogo, that's awful for you.

LadyTophamHatt · 31/12/2006 17:52

Yep, as per usual really.

(apart from the sleeping children)

PartridgeinaRustyBearTree · 31/12/2006 17:59

DH has taken MIL back to her house (she's been staying partly with SIL & partly with us since FIL died)because she thinks the insurance will be invalid if she doesn't spend 2 days out of 30 there - despite DH spending ages on the phone to Norwich Union sorting out an acceptable agreement, which we have in writing, she still keeps going on about how she saw it in some magazine..... So as DD is staying with friends in Devon & DS is at a party I'll be on my own (btw DS did offer to stay home with me but it's his last chance to see his gf before he goes back to university)

paulaplumpbottom · 31/12/2006 20:21

awwwwwww

Hattiecat · 31/12/2006 20:29

i'm on my own - was supposed to be going out with dh for first time on new years eve since dd1 was born 7 years ago, but mil is seriously ill in hospital so we had to cancel - huh! so am sitting on own feeling sorry for self, had crap start to year, crap middle of year and am now having crap end to year. all in all crappety crap crap crap!

Paddlechick666 · 31/12/2006 20:39

me too. on my own apart from gorgeous 14 month old dd in her cot. thank god but for how long!

2nd year running and have to confess to feeling pretty bleak.

last year dh had just started ads and was really suffering. this year they changed his meds on boxing day and guess what, he's really suffering again.

he's doing a good impression of Garbo in his mother's spare room which is where he's spent much of the last year.

at least we had a good xmas together - which is an improvement on last year.

so sorry to hear about your H longwaytgo, hope you're okay altho that's a really trite thing to say.

happy new year all

Bekks · 31/12/2006 21:25

Me too. I actually had somewhere to go this year (spent last year alone) to see friends, but when we got there dd (3) was not very well, eventually throwing up on her ready bed, so we have had to come home. At least I will get an early night, and friends are coming round tomorrow afternoon to finish off the cava with me, so not all bad! They are also washing sicky clothes and bed for me, which makes me happy in many ways!

blossomsmine · 31/12/2006 22:01

Thats so hard for you and the kids longwaytogo I wish you well. This year I was more worried about the kids feeling they had something to do than me! They are getting older and you find the older they get they hear about what their friends are doing and they want to party too! The party we were all invited too was cancelled so I took them to the cinema and then for a meal it was really good!

crunchie · 31/12/2006 22:05

Hey I'm not alone I have MN and 2 girls, who are at the moment choosing nail varnish t wear

They are determined to stay up until midnight (they are 7 and 5 BTW )

Wallace · 31/12/2006 22:09

I've decided to make use of the Babycham we were given for Christmas 2005 - it is now in the freezer chilling

tortoise · 31/12/2006 22:10

Ive opened the bottle of champagne that i won in an online prize draw! It arrived totally unexpectedly just before xmas. My head is fuzzy after less than a glass because i don't normally drink!!!

puddytats · 31/12/2006 22:11

Another one alone here, DH is prison and dc asleep upstairs. Half way through my 2nd bottle of wine and well on the way to passing out
Not a happy year and cannot wait to see the back of it

kittylettekissingsanta · 31/12/2006 22:11

not on my own, DF is here, but feel like a right old woman sitting in on th pc,

im only 22 ffs

kittylettekissingsanta · 31/12/2006 22:12

ohh puddytats (((())))

nutcracker · 31/12/2006 22:12

I now have the cat for company too....oh the joy NOT.

Bekks · 31/12/2006 22:19

Who is staying up til midnight? I can't decide whether to finish the bottle of wine and stay up, or whether to drink lots of water and go to bed to feel better in the morning.... It seems a bit pointless to stay up to say happy new year to myself and then feel crap in the morning, but then I'm sick of bed at 9.30....

pepsi · 31/12/2006 22:21

Looks like I will be now. DH has just taken ds6 to hospital, he has been having stomach ache for a week now and isnt feeling to good. Have to stay here and look after dd4 so do feel pretty lonely and worried now.
