DP is working tonight so I'm staying in looking after DS - I know its not a big deal but feel as though I've gone from being party animal to 80-year-old in matter of months! I probably won't even manage to stay awake till midnight!

Going to PILs first thing tomorrow so wonderful start to new year (not!)

dp at work, ds1 watching some backyard scinece thing on tv and ds2 asleep. im waitng for ds1's program to finish and then i have to go to sleep. ds2 (6 months)was awake all night last night, last year i was pregnant so just stayed in and watched tv, the year before dp went out with my best friend and her dp where they proceeded to argue in the pub and we all ended up not being together at midnight, dp walked home with her dp and we sat in the pub drinking. im sure next years will be better.
[i doubt it smiley but can have wishfull thinking]

worleywinterwonderland · 31/12/2006 22:26

i meant me and dp went out with my best friends and her dp, not my dp went out with my vest friend.
i soooo need sleep

yep home alone. DH works for a rail company so onnight shift. dd (17 months) in bed but keeps crying for some reason. she has had a cold for a few days and now has sicky eyes, hope its not becoming infected. first time in my life that i have been alone (well without adult company) in my whole life.

thought i would be okay but feeling a bit nostalgic and wondering what lifes all about really. start new job when i go back to work next week, which i should be happy about (promotion) but again think what the F... is it all about. what do i really want outta this life[hmm}. shouldn't really be complaining. so many people out there with 'real' issues. never doing this new year alone thing again, makes me think too much.

forevermore · 31/12/2006 22:35

longwaytogotobethlehem · 31/12/2006 22:39

i so need to go to bed but don't think dd's will want to.

Wallace · 31/12/2006 22:41

Not as lightweight as me maybe the Babycham has matured having been in the cupboard so long

nutcracker · 31/12/2006 22:42

I might go bed now, am bored and fed up.

Mercy · 31/12/2006 22:42

I'm here too.

We were invited to a family type party but it didn't start until 8pm and my two can't really stay up beyond 10pm, so dh has gone alone. Doesn't bother me, I prefer Christmas to New Year every time.

Have drunk loads of wine already! And will have a little bit of dh's whisky later, hehe!

luckymummybigfattummy · 31/12/2006 22:43

hello all, I'm alone too. I have dimpled thighs mentality, tried not to be negative about it....thought 'excellent, some 'me-time'. So far have bathed my gorgeous dd and put her to bed (6:30pm!), had dinner, watched some TV from SKY+ I had recorded over Christmas, ate vast amounts of cheese and biscuits, drank red wine, spoke to recently heart broken brother for an hour and a half (not so good). Opened bucket of maltesers got for Christmas, drank tea, came on MN cos I knew other people would be alone. Planning a long soak in the bath and a read of my book soon, if I can stay awake!
I've had a fab year simply cos I gave birth to my gorgeous girl. I miss DH who is at work til 7am tomorrow, but I'm genuninely happy.

Mercy · 31/12/2006 22:47

nutcracker, please don't go - get onto the bar thread and have a bit more wine.

You do sound very happy luckymummy, good for you!

Wallace · 31/12/2006 22:54

nutty - stay up!

happymummyfattummy - I will join you in your happiness. ds2 is 5 months and a blessing. I have been thinking about what he will be like next christmas and new year and it is just amazing to think what a proper little person he will be by then
