When we were kids, mum always made fudge for grandma and stuffed dates for grandpa.
Am just trying to make a list of stuff to get this week and can't think what treats to buy, for those afternoons in front of the TV/playing with new toys.

So what do you all have in to munch on?

Creme liqueur and Jago vanilla vodka.

Orange preserve cake, mincemeat cookies, marshmallow fudge, sugar cookies - all made by me!

Chipolatas from Ballencrieff Farms.

My homemade stuffing.

bakedpotato · 17/12/2006 18:10

A working oven would be nice.

SnafuOutOfHiding · 17/12/2006 18:11

Nuts of all varieties
Toblerone (but only the milk chocolate one)
Smoked salmon
Mince pies
Cornichons (in fact pretty much anything pickled, excepting eggs...)

yulemoonfiend · 17/12/2006 18:13

what are cornichons? [ignoramus emoticon]

SnafuOutOfHiding · 17/12/2006 18:39

Those little gherkiny things. They look a bit like tiny baby crocodiles.

lunavix · 17/12/2006 18:47

parents had:

dates and figs
rose and lemon turkish delight (hexagonal box?)
quality street and roses
xmas puding, mince pies and xmas cake
after eights
huge load of nuts to crack
peanuts

this was pre-celebrations, and heroes. As i grew up with these, its my view on christmas!

Someone would always have some ferrero rochers as a gift, and my dad would always get just brazils.

DimpledThighs · 17/12/2006 18:56

have ordered large fruit and nut selection from riverford, box of turkish delight and some 'chocolate enrobed fruits' for hotel chocolat. I was planning on avoiding cheap chocs, but cracked in co-op and bought a box of roses

DimpledThighs · 17/12/2006 19:37

have just read that back and I sound like a right ponce - is time to point out that my thighs are dimpled because of years of cadbury addiction and getting used to more expensive (and less sweet) chocolate was the only thing that saved me (only because it is harder to get hold of mind!)

Posey · 17/12/2006 19:46

expat - marshmallow fudge sounds YUUUUMMMMY
Is it easy to make?

HowTheFillyjonkStoleChristmas · 17/12/2006 19:54

quorn sausages. my little family love them. its a fecking disgrace.

HowTheFillyjonkStoleChristmas · 17/12/2006 19:55

oh and if you get a riverford box you MUST try the chocolate alchemist stuff, if you havent already. it is the law.

Posey · 17/12/2006 19:56
