Taking my mind off what's Going On In the World Today.

I buy Christmas Stocking Gifts from October onwards when I see nice little things in the shops (last year I bought a pair of socks in April to put away for DD stocking Xmas Blush )

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/06/2016 13:38

I got the Hmm face from DH last night. We were watching Mock the Week and the round was "This is the answer. What is the question?" The answer was 186 and I suggested that the question was "How many days until Christmas?" Unfortunately, thanks to this thread I knew I was wrong unless MTW was recorded on Tuesday Xmas Grin

6 Months Xmas Grin

Today ........ is my DD Birthday.

I spent ages yesterday wrapping her presents ( she likes lots of small, beauty things- make up, brushes, perfumes, earrings)
I reminded myself why I buy boxes and bags + tissue paper for Christmas wrapping........much easier than paper and tape.

She had a cuddle with one of the guinea-pigs , then (after the piggies were fed Xmas Grin ) we had breakfast and she opened her presents.

And, we'll do the same in 6 months. Buying, wrapping, The Twitch, more buying, arranging them nicely, opening, putting the wrapping paper in the bin, then food.

Happy Rudolph Day Xmas Grin

lollyj84 · 25/06/2016 09:45

Happy Rudolph day! 70 i hope your daughter has a fab day.
Christmas has to go on back burner a bit. I have a friends wedding next week and another friends hen party at the end of july.
I have just paid for DS 1 birthday party and have a 60th and 40th end of july and start of august. My poor bank balance.

Paperblank · 26/06/2016 18:55

I was out celebrating a hen do last night and the venue were promoting their Christmas Parties. I excitedly pointed this out to my friends only to be shot down I flames, called (unnecessarily) mean names and forced to down a sambucca shot for mentioning the "C" word.

I need new friends Xmas Grin

Argh. I dropped off the thread. Had a mild panic then. Xmas Grin

BiddyPop · 27/06/2016 09:01

Nice round number today - with less than 6 months to go. DD is already over the half year!!

Warning - I have done a quick and dirty cull of my stocking stuffers doc, to try and remove the worst of the "kiddie ideas", and pull out those that might be useful for teens or older. But it's still long.

Paper we're your friends, don't worry!! (We'll only make you down a shot of eggnog or gluhwein!! Xmas Grin )

I am liking all the talk of seasonal foods, especially the festive breakfast Constantly. Rhubarb and mince tart sounds interesting though Mimsnet.

Happy belated birthday to Holly as well!!

HairsprayBabe · 29/06/2016 13:38

Hellooo
biddy Cripes! That is an amazing list!
Will be pinching some of those as DP always had a stocking as a kid be my parents never did them for us*, so he looked crestfallen on our first christmas when he didn't get one!!! But I never know what to put in it!!!

*We were not deprived we had after dinner gifts instead - these days there are three lots of pressies, stocking, main and after dinner!!!

I do like them though so I shall be continuing the tradition when if sproglets come our way at some point!

Can't believe it's the 1st July tomorrow. Time is marching on.

Got my closest friends and Dd's godmothers (same person) a lovely Radley handbag yesterday thanks to the Xmas bargain thread. That's her done for Xmas. Apparently monsoon have a 50% off sale im going to investigate.

BiddyPop · 30/06/2016 09:57

Dammit - I cannot go for the summer sale bargains as I am not home to receive packages. And they'd probably be out of time for the PO to need to send them back before I manage to get there on return.

I will have to see about doing some shopping in person in Manchester - does anyone have any recommendations? I know we're staying in Deansgate (and DH is taking DD to Old Trafford so I am either sitting reading with coffee or shopping for that time!!!) and cannot really remember the city from my only previous visit 15 years ago!!

Today is all about not panicking as I get the desk cleared off (my "to do" list is nowhere near finished, eek), and finish packing my bag, DD's bag, strain the limoncello to bottle up 1 bottle at least, find DD's passport and all our E111 cards, and then throw everything into the car ready for a 6.30am departure. I intend starting as I mean to go on though - I am rooting for a couple of books in canteen press (a "leave a book, take a book" case is out there to allow swops) over my tea break for something to read on the ferry.
