Paper is Monday still D-Day? (Delivery Day)

You are either very calm in a swan like fashion (elegant on the surface but with your feet frantically pedalling) or completely frazzled and exhausted.

DS arrived 18 days before the Millenium Christmas, I planned everything but once he arrived , everything took a back seat. We did have Christmas, just the 3 of us, but unlike any other.Xmas Smile

D-day is still Monday and I'm in the latter camp!! Exhausted most definitely - I've not had a decent nights sleep for a few weeks now and it's taking its toll.

I was a crying snotty mess earlier on today and so DH has despatched me to bed where I'll stay for another couple of hours.

On one hand we're all ready to go (that would be the practical "I'll make a list" hand) I'm Mrs Organised normally Smile but on the other... well I've never felt so unprepared for anything in my entire life. No different from any first time parent but my head is spinning with daft stuff...what if's...oh my god's and frankly I am bloody terrified!

Deep breaths eh?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/02/2016 15:38

Ah, you can't prepare because there's no way of knowing is there?
I have two and their arrivals into the world were completely different (DS took forever , DD was induced, I had no pain but the monitor said I was in labour, she sprang out with only DH as assistance)

Sleep as much as you can, you don't realise how quiet your life was until you have a newborn. We were two adults but this new scrap of humanity ruled us Grin

Have nice food ready for when you get home but your tastebuds will change , so nice easy edible not too spicy (I couldn't tolerate the sauce in pizza, too spicy ).

Good Luck and keep counting Xmas Grin

daisydalrymple · 20/02/2016 15:57

Ooh really 308?? But I must admit am more excited by the imminent two days left countdown paper!!! I remember being overdue with ds1. Everybody expected me to be fed up, but I kept thinking, STAY IN THERE!!! I'm good at this being pregnant lark, but have no idea what to do with a baby!!! Grin

Magical countdown for 2016 christmas for you eh!! Xx

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/02/2016 19:06

After Countdown PaperBaby we should get squidgey newborn photos to brood over too Grin

I was wavering between "Stay where I know you're safe" and "Be born , my skin is knackered from stretching" (especially DD who was a Summer Baby and I had a jiggered back )

Teeny baby-gros are cute , I kept a couple , hard to think my lanky teens (both taller than me now) fitted them.............

AbbyCadabby · 20/02/2016 20:33

I've just sorted DD's clothes into piles for getting rid of, ohhh, was she that small really? She's now 9mo, so it wasn't even that long ago!
Really exciting, Paper - do hurry up and update us!

ahhh lovely squishy newborns, good luck Paper we came home with PFB on Christmas eve and spent Christmas day with a chicken and pre packed veggies from M&S, twas the best ever!
I got a rash on my face and she got a bald spot on her head from kissing her so much. She's now 4 and already told me that she wants a Cinderella Teddy bear for Christmas, as even thou its not available in the shops Father Christmas can just make it for her Xmas Grin

SideOrderofChip · 20/02/2016 23:06

Well we were supposed to go to my DP for christmas this year But thanks to DH not getting his holiday request in when i asked him to, we can't go.

So i am rather gutted on one hand.

On the other hand it does make Christmas prep alot easier!

I remember DD wanting an Angelina ballerina tutu which wasn't available then so I had to make (well adapt) one. So much more fun than MAC vouchers.....

Guitargirl · 21/02/2016 14:33

Nick - you could get a build a bear (or any teddy) with a Cinderella dress?

ConstantlyCooking · 21/02/2016 17:41

You could find a teddy in a ball gown/ party dress and then make a set of rags for the teddy to wear when not at the ball. Dolls clothes fit some bears as well.

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/02/2016 19:24

Nick I'm sure this doll could be adapted with teddy bear ears. I love making Jean Greenhowe stuff - I did the knitted nativity a couple of years ago. Would you like me to have a go? I've got projects that will take me until May/June time but can tackle it over the summer. If it's an abject failure that still leaves you time to find an alternative before Christmas.

nickdrakeslovechild · 21/02/2016 20:44

Thanks for the ideas, I think if she still wants it nearer to Christmas I will probably take her to build a bear for it or something similar.

She starts school this year so who knows what she will be asking for by then!

I am on the bargain threads and buy the bulk of her presents throughout the year and just leave the main items until later.

daisydalrymple · 21/02/2016 21:25

Another slight hijack but very best wishes for tomorrow paper. May baby paper make a swift and painless entry into the world Smile . me and ds1 were talking about me waddling around the house overdue 9 years ago, wondering when on earth he was going to come out! Will look forward to hearing your news [must find something festive to type here soon ...]
