Thank you for the chalk pen recommendation - they went down brilliantly with 12 year old dd! Windows, glass place mats, mirrors and chalk boards have all been decorated! Grin

I just bought the Tudor 'A Girl for All time' doll for £20 delivered from an ebay seller, also Amazon have it at £22 (think it's the same seller). She's £69.99 on the maker's website (itself a reduction from £89.99!). The dolls have won all kinds of awards and are fab female role models, but way too expensive for me at full price.

Looks like a great doll for older girls. apparently the target market is 8 - 14. DD will be 9 next Christmas, so should be a lovely present for her. there are various costumes available on the website and elsewhere, but I'll wait and see if I see any good reductions... although there are codes on the facebook page for 15% off, or for £15 off a £50 spend... tempted to buy the accompanying book...and nightdress.. and dog... but I'll stick with the bargainous dolly for now and see if any great deals come up for accessories during the year.

Just looked at the 'a girl for all time' dolls, wish I'd seen these when DD was younger. She's just turned 13 so a not past them really. They remind me of the 70's Sasha dolls I had growing up.

Lusitano · 28/12/2015 17:41

This is a nice quote from the Amazon.com reviews, Creme (the US site) -

"She looks exactly like a twelve or thirteen year old girl and would be a perfect "last" (is there ever really a last?) doll for that age."

I think a lot of adults collect them, so if you think she would like it, she isn't too old. In fact some people have complained that the accompanying book (you buy it separately) is very 'young adult' in tone, and too old for their ten year olds - deals with Katherine Howard and adultery etc.

CremeBrulee · 28/12/2015 17:47

I'm very tempted. But her birthday is in December so it's a long time to wait. Was thinking we could make new clothes /costumes for the doll together as she loves crafting.

G1veMeStrength · 28/12/2015 18:02

I'm a bit disappointed with the sales so far... Must be too used to bargains! But I want a decent air bed and some presents for 11 year olds and there is nothing grabbing me.

Lusitano · 28/12/2015 19:18

There seem to be a lot of dress patterns online for them, creme Wink

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding · 28/12/2015 19:35

Those dolls are sweet. It'd be great if they did some ancient history ones too :o

We've decided to get DD a sewing machine for her 9th birthday in summer. She is always making clothes and accessories for her dolls out of whatever she can scavenge - fabric scraps, sweet wrappers, magazine pages, loom bands etc.

I went to town today and the shops were mostly full of crap. And Boots, BHS and Debenhams had NO wrapping paper! Stocked up in M&S instead.

Nowhere had Lego on sale either but that doesn't really surprise me sadly

Neeko · 29/12/2015 14:29

Melissa and Doug advent tree down to £7 in debenhams if anyone wanted it for next year Smile

HortonWho · 30/12/2015 19:28

Thanks Lusitano, those dolls are beautiful. can't believe the bargain - her dresses cost more!

mrsdiddlydoo · 31/12/2015 14:56

Lots of bargains for next Xmas in our waitrose. Crackers down to £2 and napkins etc.

Lusitano · 02/01/2016 11:07

My 'Girl for all time' doll arrived today from here, £20 delivered.

she is beautiful, the box is in perfect condition, and she looks worth every penny of the £90 she would cost in Hamleys. She's in a really sizeable box, a lovely, substantial present.

glentherednosedbattleostrich · 02/01/2016 20:09

Dd will be 6 next Christmas, do you think the doll will be to old for her?

Lusitano · 04/01/2016 15:56

Glen I think it would be fine for a 6 year old, might spark a real interest in history :)

Tanaqui · 04/01/2016 17:26

Gorgeous doll!

Does anyone have a guess for when Boots will go to 70% off?

glentherednosedbattleostrich · 04/01/2016 17:54

I've ordered it. I think dd is doing tudors soon at school (can you tell I'm trying to justify shopping so soon after Christmas! )

Iggi999 · 04/01/2016 19:04

Found the playmobil campervan on top of the wardrobe just now - I clearly bought too much! Blush

AdmiralCLingus · 04/01/2016 22:11

The 70% is rumoured for the 15th. But shhh. ... I never told you....

woodwaj · 05/01/2016 09:44

Does anyone want my £1 code for chalk labels?

trixymalixy · 05/01/2016 11:51

oh I wouldn't mind it if it's still available wood!

woodwaj · 05/01/2016 12:52

Sent it :) it's not really a bargain now my prime trial has ran out!

trixymalixy · 05/01/2016 14:21

Thank you so much! I have had chalk labels in my basket so many times but decided they weren't worth the money, but for £1 you can't go wrong!

HortonWho · 07/01/2016 10:54

If anyone is a fan of Eve Lom, or just a huge bargain, Space NK have just added this gift set to their sale for £45. That's each product reduced to only £15! Stand alone prices are:

primer sells separately for £40
the cream is £75!!!!
And the 100ml cleanser is £55 (it comes standard with the Muslin cloth so I'm not counting that as an additional item)

woodwaj · 07/01/2016 17:44

I've got another link for £2 chalk pens if anyone wants it

RoastieToastieReastie · 07/01/2016 20:50

Thanks for that Horton, I've used Eve lom in the past and it's really lovely so have ordered the set as a present to myself.
