Not very Christmassy but tesco have their 7 cheese selection half price for £4 might be good for anyone doing hampers or those like me who are expecting the 7000 to arrive over the holidays.

woodwaj · 30/11/2015 17:13

Just bought the kids a set of 10 personalised pencils each from eBay for £4.99 which I thought was good value compared to others I'd seen.

Does anyone know what the Hotel Chocolate Crackers are like? Would they be any good as a present for TA's and teachers?

I'm torn between them or an Aldi bottle of prosseco. I have five to buy for plus the Brownie leader so don't want to spend more than a fiver each.

My only.concern with the alcohol is sending D1 up to class with two bottles of wine in her bag. She is 8 and has to go into school byself, which involves a flight of stairs. I'm sure the teachers wouldn't be happy with me if I did that, but other than leave them at reception - which seems a bit 'look at me' iyswim.

I'm overthinking this aren't I?

LucyTheValiant · 30/11/2015 18:04

Was someone looking for dinosaur pyjamas? Toby Tiger have some brushed cotton ones, but they are not bargainous.

forgivenminds · 30/11/2015 18:22

does anyone know the likelihood of me being able to pick up a go pro on Xmas eve as I've just decided it would be great for sis and bil but next pay day is Xmas eve and worried I would be pushing it too much ?

zipzap · 30/11/2015 18:36

FabFlo - I worry about sending the dc in with bottles of booze too - in infant school it was easy as you could go in with them to ensure it was delivered safely...

In the past I've given bottles of dessert wine - there are some around that are suitable to have with christmas pudding that look quite festive - which have the halfway advantage of being a bottle of something a bit different and half the size of a normal bottle of wine, so lighter.

I've also given the little tiny umbrellas which were well received - they fold up nice and neatly, it doesn't matter if you have more than one as they invariably go missing and it's handy to have one to leave in school, one in the car, one near the front door, one in your handbag, one in the cupboard for when you can't find any of the others... You can often get really nice ones from TKMaxx for about a fiver - bit more in John lewis/Debenhams/M&S etc

OK I've just checked and the umbrellas aren't so bargainous this year Sad

However I did spot this sunflower umbrella for £13 (almost half price) which might make a nice present for somebody who loves gardening or flowers or likes being jolly or who's just difficult to buy for - it's really cheerful for a rainy day!

zipzap · 30/11/2015 18:42

FabFlo Or how about these neat eco fold up shopper bags?

I've got several handbags from here that are great but haven't yet got around to trying these new shopping bags that fold up that are made by Mia Tui - but if you use the code SUE12 you can get 3 for £12. too busy on here to do work let alone extra shopping!

They look different from the usual fold up bags as they have 2 sections and a zipped bit inside - teachers and brown owls could find them really useful and they're light and easy to pack, no worries about breakages like there is with glass bottles... Xmas Grin

Reastie · 30/11/2015 19:23

The water stones mog looks practically the same as the sainsburys one to my untrained eye.

lady looking for pokemon - toys r us have loads of toys instore. my dd was obsessed, i bought some of the plushes from ebay (china) and they were fantastic quality for the price but not sure they would arrive in time for christmas now. best gift was a remote control pikachu and the figures in the pokeballs. she plays with them loads. and also a book full of cards i got off ebay. theres a facebook group dedicated to buying/selling pokemon merchandise i bought a few things from before.

derektheladyhamster · 30/11/2015 19:45

Someone up the thread was asking for a flavourly code £10 off which also gives me a £5 credit. If you only want 1 box and then cancel, please make sure you select the 1 box option which cost £24 discounted to £14. DH is very impressed with the selection.

glentherednosedbattleostrich · 30/11/2015 20:06

The hotel chocolat crackers are nice, they only have a few chocolates in though. I've got a little bottle of prosecco to go with it (2 for £5 from morrisons ).

If you dress up on Christmas day lindy bop have a very good sale on today.

AuntieMaggie · 30/11/2015 20:12

Hello, long time lurker here. I received a leaflet today from a company called Brewhive offering 24 beers for £19 with the code FCC2C. It looks like a new company so it is an introductory offer rather than a subscription deal. Delivery is free, plus you get a free crystal beer glass and a beer guide. The normal price is £49.20 so it looks like a good deal. I have ordered today so will report back when it arrives - brewhive.
