This year I'm thinking of trying out black Kraft paper decorated with chalkboard markers - I've attached the pic that inspired me, just found randomly on Google Images - and gold accents. Previous years I've done brown paper with greenery, stripes with a candy cane tied on, etc. I thought this would be good as I don't have to worry about tags - although I am making matching tags for the bottles of homemade booze Xmas Grin

What about everyone else?

We always wrap stocking presents. That's what my family did growing up (no idea about DH!). The stocking presents are a frenzy of paper and unwrapping then the 'main' presents are done nicely and taking turns. Everyone's happy.

Darnit MNHQ. When are we going to get a like button? There are just too too many posts here that I want to like.

Can I ask you holly wrappers - do you / the recipient not get pricked to death?

I have special Santa paper - and if I have family staying we have to co-ordinate it so that our Santa paper is the same. Sometimes Santa has the same paper but in different colour ways to help me in my wine induced state Santa differentiate between each child.

No labels on stocking presents in this house.

It's also only small stuff. Father Christmas doesn't bring the 'main' present.

The only scheme we have ever used is one pattern for presents from Santa, and other for presents from anyone else.

I went as poncy as I get a couple of years ago and printed out some Christmas Carol sheet music to use with red twine and bells.

These days my theme is M&S all the way because it's nice thick paper and has a handy grid on the back.

I love the Christmas Carol paper.....I may actually pinch that idea and do that with a couple of presents, it doesn't look too onerous

I have bought minions with santa hats on paper from poundland. No tags needed because almost everything is for DS. Might write names on with a biro for extended family presents.

Grid is for cutting in straight lines in both directions.

I've just remembered the year that I handmade all of my Christmas cards too - that way madness lies. Never again.

The grid is to cut on straight lines.

I'm going for pound shop gift bags this year, securely taped at the top. I ponced last year with tartan paper with a big gold letter (the first initial of the recipient) stuck to it

I did tartan last year, with huge black ribbons and black sparkly tags - they were things of beauty, if I do say so myself.

Remus, that does sound gorgeous. I'm taking the easy option this year though, even though I'm tempted

Aldi paper has grids on it too. At least, I think it's Aldi, I'm usually too pissed on Baileys to pay much attention.
