This year I'm thinking of trying out black Kraft paper decorated with chalkboard markers - I've attached the pic that inspired me, just found randomly on Google Images - and gold accents. Previous years I've done brown paper with greenery, stripes with a candy cane tied on, etc. I thought this would be good as I don't have to worry about tags - although I am making matching tags for the bottles of homemade booze Xmas Grin

What about everyone else?

Noel, I'm going retro too if I can find any!

CheerfulYank · 09/11/2015 06:36

I also have no time on my hands. I have an eight year old, a two year old, a five month old, and a 6 month old lab. And am a part time child minder.

I just like to ponce it up at Christmas :o

SirChenjin · 09/11/2015 06:44

Any of you theme crazies want a p/t job over Christmas wrapping up my presents?!

You're all utterly mad - in the loveliest way possible Grin (although I am relieved to hear I'm not alone in my lack of theme)

Paperblank · 09/11/2015 07:19

SirChenjin

Bring them to me - I'll do it Grin

SirChenjin · 09/11/2015 07:38

You're on!

GloopyGhoul · 09/11/2015 07:59

I would SO hire myself out as a wrapper. Think there's a market for that?

LBOCS2 · 09/11/2015 08:31

MissMargot, wait for the sales and buy next year's paper from Cox and Cox. I have the copper paper to use this year but I bought it in January in the sale (half price which makes it much more affordable!) and shoved it in the cupboard under the stairs.

This year I'm lusting after the navy with stars paper they've brought out, so I'll be hoping to pick that up for a decent price too.

FondantFancy66 · 09/11/2015 08:56

Brown paper for presents that come from Santa. Coloured paper for all other gifts. I'd love to do a whole theme, but in reality, I just buy red, green or gold paper and ribbons to match. One day I will be a proper Christmas poncer!

LibidinousSwine · 09/11/2015 08:56

Sainsburys have a sprout wrapping paper too. I have it for stocking presents but am yet to choose my main theme

MoreChilliPlease · 09/11/2015 09:12

I normally do shiny red paper with gold ribbons/ lace but having seen the picture you shared I must admit I'm tempted to try something new... Xmas Grin

trixymalixy · 09/11/2015 09:18

Ooh I want the sprout wrapping paper!

trixymalixy · 09/11/2015 09:22

It doesn't take a huge amount of extra time or money to do a wrapping theme. I only do poncy wrap with ribbons etc for adult presents so not that many. My kids get a wrapping colour each and I'll do a simpler theme for other kids e.g candy stripe wrap with a mini candy cane from poundland attached.

choccyp1g · 09/11/2015 09:29

I like the sound of a theme, but by Christmas day most of my theme is in other people's houses and there is a mishmash of themes under my tree. On account of us exchanging presents which I thought was the whole point.

trixymalixy · 09/11/2015 09:36

Well the presents sit under my tree looking nice until they are exchanged, then I'd like to think it gives the recipient pleasure to open a beautifully packaged gift. That's the point for me.

imwithspud · 09/11/2015 09:44

I love this thread! Although a theme for me consists of 3 for 2 on rolls of wrapping paper from Wilko. One massive roll for my own dc's and dc's in the family, another roll for the adults and a third as back up/for use next year.

peggyundercrackers · 09/11/2015 10:17

a wrapping theme? seriously some people have way too much time on their hands...

sorry but brown paper to wrap Christmas present? I used to wrap my old school books in brown paper - it would remind me of times when we didn't have money.

LimboNovember · 09/11/2015 10:33

scary make sure your stamp works.

i got a merry crimbo stamp from the range and its shite messy and isnt clear at all. Sad

I have done brown paper in the past - then wrote with glue and showered glitter over it....

This year, from us - I found a gorgeous Nutcracker soilder paper in packs of three, one red background, one navy blue and one gold, I adore it. These presents will go out about a week before xmas, so the dc have something to think about, poke at and get excited about!

Then the ones from FC are in a plainish brown from ikea...for those I have matching bows from matalan in same style and will probably do candy canes on them too.

LimboNovember · 09/11/2015 10:36

peggy this is the christmas topic do you think your remarks are appropriate and festive?

Brown paper is classic and old school - Brown paper parcels wrapped up with string Hmm.....

Amazing how wrapping paper theme thread has really touched some peoples buttons Confused.

I like the sound of a theme, but by Christmas day most of my theme is in other people's houses and there is a mishmash of themes under my tree

Maybe we dont all share your time table of giving presents over?

Bizarre.

Crazypetlady · 09/11/2015 10:53

Me and d.p are getting our nephews star wars presents so are wrapping those with star wars paper. Ds will be 6 months I want to wrap them because of his first christmas photos need them to be as christmassy as possible. He will just get cheap paper though. Not sure about family yet haven't used themes before.

RollingRollingRolling · 09/11/2015 11:02

Few years ago ikea had this themed wrapping paper, but this year there is nothing similar, I love traditional looking brown wrapping paper, especially for stockings from Father Christmas.
Can't find anything like it this year, any suggestions?

(Pen for scale)

Why are people getting snarky? Lighten up ffs, it's nearly Christmas.

LBOCS2 · 09/11/2015 11:13

Rolling, Waitrose are selling Kraft with pattern paper; snowflakes I think.

Datschi · 09/11/2015 11:14

I don't have a theme, but I am enjoying reading about everyone else's.
It's a bit like reading Good Housekeeping magazine, I am nodding sagely and really interested to hear about it (though I would like more pictures!) even though I would never have a theme myself.

I do different paper for each child for stockings, so it is easy to see whose is whose late at night without turning lights on (this paper has to be kept well hidden, and be completely different from any other paper we use), and then deliberately non-matching paper for presents under the tree because I like there to be a nice jumble of different colours and patterns under there.

SouthWestmom · 09/11/2015 11:19

My theme is two layers with gold coins in between. Yum.

I adore that nutcracker soilder one! A few years ago they had a similar look one with old fashioned rocking horses and toys on it was glorious.

Shame their selection is poor this year.

I got a shiny but classic nutcracker soilder from matalan this year had a quick look on website and its not there, maybe sold out on line. i was v impressed by their wrapping this year though, maybe have a look if one is near you?

(this paper has to be kept well hidden, and be completely different from any other paper we use)

tell me about it! DD notices wrapping paper hence why I have had to trudge an hours journey to ikea to buy her from FC paper Shock, otherwise she would have spotted it somewhere!!
