Hello lovely people!!!! I've not been around much recently! I've been fighting the LEA to try to get Amelia assessed. She has started mainstream school and apparently it seems Amelia is the only child with Down Syndrome that doesn't need classroom support!
TBH we have been going through a really rough time, I have been coming home from the school run and crying my eyes out, so frustrated that all my hard work with Amelia over the last 5 years will just be wasted as she is lost in a classroom with no specialist knowlegde or support!
Things are slowly improving;at last the school have acknowledged my concerns and with that the LEA backed down the day before I submitted all Amelia's casework into the tribunal services! If only having a child with a disabilty could simply be "caring for your child!"
My time is just so precious and once the children are in bed all I have the energy for is to curl up on the sofa and sleep. Time for me & DH just hasn't happened and I feel the whole family has been affected by the pressure.
On top of all our personal battles, I have agreed to become treasurer to a new charity we are setting up! Our little local Down Syndrome group is growing and we are becoming Kentwide!!! It is extra pressure on us, but deep in my heart, hopefully it may ease the battle for others in the group when their time comes for schooling!
Anyway, enough of my waffle. With all that in mind, you can imagine my reaction when some Odeon vouchers dropped through my letterbox. It could not have been a better choice. I hope you don't think too badly of my saying that me and hubby will be going out without kiddies for once- we haven't been to the pictures as a couple for years! BIG THANK YOU to Claire. {{{{{hugs}}}}}}
Yesterday I was taken aback yet again when £20 M&S vouchers arrived!!! The message said " On behalf of MN. With love from DXXX & boys. Please use to buy a couple of bottles of wine for Xmas day!" Again, it is so appreciated that you have thought of our needs as parents. Big THANK YOU DXXX! {{{{{hugs}}}}}
Also, to whoever nominated us- thank you for thinking of us. You must have know what a bad time we were going through!
Lastly, a huge thank you to Soapy!!! This must have been a mammoth task. I have shed an awful lot of tears over the last few months, but the last few day have been extra special tears for all the extra special people who have found all this kindness in their hearts.
THANK YOU!!!!
