*************************Mumsnet Christmas Appeal 2006***********************************

1000 replies

soapbox · 24/11/2006 19:27

I thought I had better start a new thread in case the old one falls over at 1000 posts.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have helped make this a huge success Thanks to all of you, life will be a little bit easier for some of our MNetters this year!

Firstly all of the MNetters - without you this would only have been a pipe dream! Givers and receivers - all take a bow

Then the corporates:
GLTC - for going well beyond the call of duty
Hazell -www.verko.co.uk- for her most generous offer of christmas trees - I hope you join in and make some new friends here
Great expectations - a lovely company with wonderful fairtraded toys and again help beyond what was expected.
LCC - to Jaysmummy for her crafty goodies and warm hearted support
www.thesweetiestop.co.uk - for their generous support

And of course it goes almost without saying, MNHQ!

**

How it works:

You email me:

[email protected]

as a giver or receiver. If a receiver I will ask for a bit more information to find a good match for you. If a giver I will find someone for you to send your gift to.

All matches to be done by 30 November (did I really promise that)

All gifts to be posted by 15 December (at the latest).

Miaou · 25/11/2006 18:47

Soapy I've emailed you re. the PS2 but guess I might be too late now - I misunderstood your first message about it and thought you would be offering it to the first receiver on your list with the right aged kids. Duh - pg brain!!

You are a superstar - or should that be soapastar???

QuootiepiesBetterThanMincePies · 25/11/2006 18:49

MerlinsBeard · 25/11/2006 18:58

i may be missing the point here but how do u know what ppl need? or is it just aguess

soapbox · 25/11/2006 18:59

Does anyone on my receivers list have a good home for the following

a fake-suede heavy winter coat (with fake fur inside) with hood ? size 12, medium length so it would suit a teen-ager (or even a tall 12 years old). Of course, it will also suit a mum! Used a couple of times only and in great condition.

soapbox · 25/11/2006 19:00

MumofM - Some people provided a few clues on the form!

Otherwise it is a guess

MerlinsBeard · 25/11/2006 19:03

oooh i see!

You're doing a great job soapy

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 25/11/2006 19:09

Time for me to have another "moment"

I want to say a MASSIVE thank you to EVERYONE who has offered help, been in the background doing leg-work and of course Soapy for being an absolute angel.

You have all exceeded yourselves, and made a lot of people VERY happy this year, the thought of being able to put presents under the tree for my babies, and not have to worry about the impact of the cost on the family, is truly wonderful.

I am filled with a warm squishy feeling right now, and I really hope that all you "givers" know how special you are.

Myself and DH have vowed to hoard EVERYTHING the girls grow out of by means of toys and clothes for next year in order I can give back in some way for what has been done for us this year.

You are all gorgeous, and I raise my glass (of juice) to you all xxxxx

MerlinsBeard · 25/11/2006 19:09

JARM, we are doing teh same

Fattymumma · 25/11/2006 19:14

same here.

I have had a really amazing email from Soapy and she is about to make 4boys and a girl have the greatest christmas ever.

the kindness shown on this thread is astounding and i really haev been moved to tears more than a couple of times...and i am NOT and emotional person.

i hope that each and every person who is helping with this appeal is named so that we can all appreciate your generosity at the end of all this.

foxinsocks · 25/11/2006 19:31

and what barstewards Chelsea are for cancelling his visit in the first place!

crumpet · 25/11/2006 19:34

Soapbox - got your email - the mothercare vouchers will be put in the postbox tomorrow.

I've also got a couple of nearly new coats in the right size for my "matchee's" baby, so will add those - hope that's alright

satinshoes · 25/11/2006 19:48

Soapy - realised that the things I have offered are for quite different ages so just to let you know I'm more than happy to split and send to more than one receiver if that helps with the matching process.

I also have some Brand new books - maybe age 4 girl? If you'd like me to email this as an extra item let me know.

munz · 25/11/2006 19:51
