I thought I had better start a new thread in case the old one falls over at 1000 posts.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have helped make this a huge success Thanks to all of you, life will be a little bit easier for some of our MNetters this year!

Firstly all of the MNetters - without you this would only have been a pipe dream! Givers and receivers - all take a bow

Then the corporates:
GLTC - for going well beyond the call of duty
Hazell -www.verko.co.uk- for her most generous offer of christmas trees - I hope you join in and make some new friends here
Great expectations - a lovely company with wonderful fairtraded toys and again help beyond what was expected.
LCC - to Jaysmummy for her crafty goodies and warm hearted support
www.thesweetiestop.co.uk - for their generous support

And of course it goes almost without saying, MNHQ!

**

How it works:

You email me:

[email protected]

as a giver or receiver. If a receiver I will ask for a bit more information to find a good match for you. If a giver I will find someone for you to send your gift to.

All matches to be done by 30 November (did I really promise that)

All gifts to be posted by 15 December (at the latest).

OP posts:

I thought they'd be sent by "signed for mail" but seems they went by regular post. Please do let me know if they don't arrive as I will follow it up. x

frumpygrumpy · 29/11/2006 14:41

I'm just sorry my offer of help came too late as I would have been delighted to send something.

However, I have a special family in mind who really need some cheer this christmas (the daddy is dying) and will be gifting some bundles for them so at least I can help somewhere along the line.

I love this thread though and i can see it becoming a MN staple..... incredibly well done soapy (and all) for keeping the true spirit of christmas alive.

frumpygrumpy · 29/11/2006 14:44

Oh MrMiaou's post has sent me off

jollyhollymum · 29/11/2006 14:47

geordiemacminx · 29/11/2006 15:12

LH, with JJ&E, I'll be posting your shoe box off tomorrow.. sorry its taken so long!! I have put some other bits and pieces in, hope this is ok, most of it bought with boots parents club vouchers!!!

twelvedaysofchristmas · 29/11/2006 15:30

To Soapbox: Just thought I'd share this. I told some girlfriends of mine about what you'd organised and one of them emailed me back saying.

"I am on the edge here... its like something out of a Christmas film. I agree, that is really lovely - shows genuine humanity which you don't see too much of these days."

And another: "That made me cry its so nice and so sad. Bless that woman who organised
a real heart of gold, so nice to see ."

twelvedaysofchristmas · 29/11/2006 15:31

And incidentally... Feck the cynics. My DH being one who said, "There ARE registered charities for this sort of thing," shaking his head at me.

Bah Humbug to him and his kind!

Flamesparrow · 29/11/2006 16:09

My mum is telling everyone about how lovely this is (my gran thinks you're all great)... my dad thinks its all decidedly dodgy
