*************************Mumsnet Christmas Appeal 2006***********************************

1000 replies

soapbox · 24/11/2006 19:27

I thought I had better start a new thread in case the old one falls over at 1000 posts.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have helped make this a huge success Thanks to all of you, life will be a little bit easier for some of our MNetters this year!

Firstly all of the MNetters - without you this would only have been a pipe dream! Givers and receivers - all take a bow

Then the corporates:
GLTC - for going well beyond the call of duty
Hazell -www.verko.co.uk- for her most generous offer of christmas trees - I hope you join in and make some new friends here
Great expectations - a lovely company with wonderful fairtraded toys and again help beyond what was expected.
LCC - to Jaysmummy for her crafty goodies and warm hearted support
www.thesweetiestop.co.uk - for their generous support

And of course it goes almost without saying, MNHQ!

**

How it works:

You email me:

[email protected]

as a giver or receiver. If a receiver I will ask for a bit more information to find a good match for you. If a giver I will find someone for you to send your gift to.

All matches to be done by 30 November (did I really promise that)

All gifts to be posted by 15 December (at the latest).

OP posts:
Nemoinapeartree · 27/11/2006 13:02

2 nerves think consenseus is that it is up to you...although I know a few recievers would at least like a email addy to say a personal thanks..lol

hazell · 27/11/2006 13:09

If you have a lot of demand for trees we'll happily offer you a few more than the 20 we originally offered.

Is anything happening on the transport front?

SisterOfSoapbox · 27/11/2006 13:14

Just thought you would all like to know that we have just received a donation of Christmas Cakes from Bell Bakers Ltd, and I would just to thank them for being so kind.

Soapy will do the distribution - not sure if she knows about this yet ! hahaha

2nervesnapartridgeinapeartree · 27/11/2006 13:15

Thanks Nemo.

I think if I was to recieve something I would want to say thanks but don't want them to feel they have to make contact.
I think I have had as much pleasure getting things together as they will receiving it. so its a two way street.

TheArcAngelTLV · 27/11/2006 13:18

Do the receivers need Xmas trees as well, Asda do a lovely fibre optic one for about 9.99, they even do little miniature ones for 2.97 which would be great in kids rooms for bedtime when they lights are out

mummyhill · 27/11/2006 13:23

I am now having another moment thankyou.

TheArcAngelTLV · 27/11/2006 13:26

i'm so excited about this, and I'm going to put in extras too, infact I think the mummys deserve a little treat too so I'm off shopping soon

SisterOfSoapbox · 27/11/2006 13:26

Anyone who would like to receive a Christmas Tree should email Soapy - request went out late last night so some might not have seen it.

flutterbee · 27/11/2006 13:27

Right I am never trying to do a good deed again, whilst I was reading this thread and posting on it DS has managed to eat a 5p piece and I now have to pend the next 2-3 days going through his pooh hoping it will come through.

Never again I tell you

JackieNo · 27/11/2006 13:28

Wow - good news on the Christmas cakes too - thanks to Bell Bakers. Can't wait to be matched... getting all excited about it.

bettythebuilder · 27/11/2006 13:28

I have my match, soapy - maternity clothes all parcelled up and ready to be posted this afternoon.

MascaraOHaraIncredibleSheHulk · 27/11/2006 13:31

I originally said I'd send something I already had but as soon as I got my match I just had to go shopping

faeriemum · 27/11/2006 13:31

if there is a tree going spare i'll have one for DS....but thats only if not enough people who are without , come forward. iuswim

Nemoinapeartree · 27/11/2006 13:34

how big are the trees and are they only for the mners around that area???

MascaraOHaraIncredibleSheHulk · 27/11/2006 13:52

Soapy, didn't want to clog up your inbox anymore so just a quick note to say Thanks for the response and I'll sort some out

hazell · 27/11/2006 14:01

The trees are 36" and are artificial! They are decorated. There's tinsel and room decorations available too ....

SisterOfSoapbox · 27/11/2006 14:10

Hazell, I've just seen your post, Soapy is at work just now (she does have a day job too hahaha) and she was the one making the transport arrangements for the Christmas Trees. I'll let you know how that is progressing later if that is ok with you.

Thanks

MerlinsBeard · 27/11/2006 14:12

how big is 36"?

SisterOfSoapbox · 27/11/2006 14:13

Nemo, if you would like a tree then email Soapbox, provided you're not in Australia or something (if so it might arrive by next Xmas) I'm sure we can sort delivery out for you.

Jelley · 27/11/2006 14:13

3' (about the height of a 3 yr old)

SisterOfSoapbox · 27/11/2006 14:14

MoM >>> 36in = 1Metre approx HTH

MerlinsBeard · 27/11/2006 14:16

lol @ this big!

was only asking b'coz altho we have a tree, its very wide at the base and we have no room now for that. 3' is too short, i don't want my ds1 to climb up iT!! think some trimming is in order this year, (well it is 6 yrs old!)

ShinyHappyStarOfBethlehem · 27/11/2006 14:17

Sis, I have emailed Soapy about a tree. I hadn't realised that there were artificial until Hazell's most recent post.

yorkiegirlsnextsanta · 27/11/2006 14:29

To other Yorkiegirl santas - most of the stuff I send will be for her youngest dd if that helps you in anyway.

faeriemum · 27/11/2006 14:36

thanks for the email soapbox
