Definitely try growing potatoes in a bag. It's so easy - you can still get some first earlies in and they'll crop in about 12 weeks.

You can then plant some main crop potatoes for the winter. 5 seed potatoes will get you about 50 ish potatoes. Nothing beats the feeling of eating something you've grown.

I just told DH it is 8 months till Christmas Eve, he's delighted less than bovvered

OOOh, I should really get started on my crafts list, it's pretty long with lots of UFOs on it and even more "yet to be started" projects on it too.

Although there are 2 items of household machine sewing to do first, and a couple more trousers needing buttons replaced.

I think I need a few days off just for me!!

@ craft list (though I'm guessing UFO is Un-Finished Objects not Unidentified Flying Objects ) My DSis is the artist in our family , not me.

I made a tree skirt from a kit a few years ago, it took MONTHS even with me sewing an hour an evening ( milllions os sequins and beads on the tiny pieces of felt) . It is lovely and something I will force onto pass onto my DC

I bought some flickery flameless candles today (they are mainly for Hallowe'en to go in spooky jars in the porch but they look gorgeous in the fireplace or mantlepiece at Christmas)

Yay for flickery flameless candles I had a whole bunch last year and they looked great. A German friend bought us a small metal house which looks like a craftman's house (carpenter/toymaker type thing). You lift the house off a metal stand and can pop on incense cones, light shines through open windows and smoke goes up the chimney. Not one for incense, we put a led candle in instead - looks lovely flickering away.
