I got inspired last night by a thread title here, so asked DH if we were going to do the steam train this year. He said no, he kinda fancied a city break (it's a while since we've done one) - so I showed him the Harry Potter World site!!

DD loves HP (we quite like him as we have to read it to herGrin), we all love London, and something a bit different as a family thing would be nice.

So I am now off to do some research and see about making some bookings for flights and hotels before they get extortionate!

Christmas 2015 becoming for happiest smile, Christmas is the favorite holiday 2015 of the French since the Second World War. This unique moment in which we find traces of a multitude of traditions is celebrated beyond religious faith need not be a believer to decorating the tree giving gifts and prepare Eve dinner. still wait 7 month after coming soon

How many days till Christmas 2015 then.............?

Hi all! Can I join the countdown on here? I felt compelled to find fellow Christmas nuts like-minded MNetters after completing the survey on Christmas Grin

I come from a long line of women who love Christmas, and try to make it as special as possible for their family. I am super organised, love lists and budgets. I have quite generous budgets for most people, especially my 2yo DD but I pride myself on stretching my budgets as far as possible. 70% of my Christmas shopping is already done (mostly sale items I pick up throughout the year) and I'll be done by the end of November. I'll have all my wrapping (sale-bought wrap Wink) done by late November/early December so I can just relax and enjoy the festive season.

Am I alone in limiting myself to Christmas film watching and Christmas music playing to the month of a December only, though? Wherein that is all I watch and listen to? and my world resembles Whoville Blush

Abso-bally-lutley Ava join us Xmas Grin

It's a case of whoever gets here first does the Countdown.

And YY to being organised (though I don't buy presents as early as you, my pesky teens would change their minds , DS has a december birthday and just wants money to save. DH buys something techy and tells me I've bought his present )

We don't do any decorating until after DS birthday anyway. But we do like the odd Christmas film in November Xmas Blush

Hi Ava- I think you are me! I'm super organised with present buying so I can enjoy the season. Wrap in nov. cards in dec. I love Christmas 24 and baking so dec is busy! I've booked tickets to se snowman this yr already! So excited.

I have certain DVDs saved for dec but watch the Christmas shoes all year round.

I haven't seen Christmas Shoes - is that the Rob Lowe one?

DD and I watch "Lost Christmas" any time of year but we try to save ourselves till November Grin

I watched some Christmas 24 films last year what a crock of shit they were Made For TV Xmas Hmm and three of them had the same actress in the lead "Mom" role. I got totally confused.

We had a freesat box that meant we had True Movies, which changes to True Christmas for Nov/Dec, so I saw a few nice Christmas movies I'd never seen (lots of "made for tv" or "straight to dvd" types, but nice stories).

The box broke a month or so ago, so we got a new one that doesn't seem to have found half the channels we had on the old one (and DH won't get off his arse to find them, as it was things like CBS Drama, CBS action, 5*, 5USA etc, and a few other movies ones - which I watched but not him, and he hated me watching NCIS as he got fed up watching it in South Africa constantly whereas I have barely seen it).

We have SkyGo, so I can see NCIS on Fox or Universal on that, but I don't have True Movies anymore. Waaaaaaaa

I have a decent enough collection of Christmas DVDs, mostly family or children's, but nice. Netflix had a few oddballs last year. But I do turn on Merry Christmas Radio (on Live365 internet radio) very occasionally during the year, and regularly in the run up to Christmas. That's nice because it's NOT the pop hits that are belted out in shops from September, but a very broad mix (classical base but lots of choral, classical, jazz, metal (you know how metallers have lovely love songs, they do lovely Christmas songs too!!) some pop-ish, old crooners etc) so it is nice as a background.

BiddyPop · 20/05/2015 10:05

Live365 has about 20 Christmas channels though, so lots of choice there....

AvaAmulet · 20/05/2015 15:03

Haha! I know, what is it with using all the same actors on rotation in made-for-tv movies? They must have a go-to 'talent' pool that they use Confused

I haven't seen the Christmas Shoes either - from the synopsis I think it might be too moving/sad?? The most I can handle tear-wise at Christmas is It's a Wonderful Life (the Snowman and the Snowdog proved too much for me last year - having to explain to DD where they 'went' when the sun came up was awful! lol!) Sad Blush

I've got my Christmas movies and tv specials on DVD categorised into 4 separate boxes... Family 'Faves'; Family 'not great' DVDs ('background' movies to have on whilist ironing etc); DD's fave Children's movies; DD's not so good movies/Christmas tv episodes to have on in background whilst playing etc.

I like to do my Christmas baking with certain movies on too no idea why Blush

Gosh, this thread should be re-titled "Christmas Confessions" lol Grin

I love those compilations on UK Gold "Eastenders Christmas" where they show all the Christmas Day episodes back-to-back.
My Gawd those people have the worst luck.
Being evicted (Alfie)
Fires (the angel decorations)
Screamy childbirth (Bianca)
Being conned by your DH and locked out (Sam Butcher)
Getting The Papers (Angie)

I feel the warm fuzziness of Christmas cheer wash over me when I watch them Xmas Grin

Stopping by to say hello. I'm on holiday in Conwy, Wales and there's a Conwy Christmas shop, it's make me soooooo happy this week and I've added to my ornament collection. ;) feeling very festive.

AvaAmulet · 21/05/2015 13:30

Ooh! lovely, Rat! I love visiting Christmas shops whenever I'm away - I always end up buying something loads. There's a two storey one in Boston, we go there every time we visit, and stunning one in Niagara-on-the-Lake - I could have set up camp and lived there forever....Blush
