Brace yourselves and form an orderly queue.

XMas clock.com says 357 (plus 14 hours)

Happy New Year to one and all. Hope 2015 is a good one Smile

BiddyPop - I love that idea! I had been thinking that this might mean some of the fun would go. I can do a sort of elf home arrival pack (having never done Christmas eve hampers/advent hampers because they weren't around when he was little. I could also pack an advent calendar with little treats or challenges for him to take in a shoe box sealed and labelled to be opened on 1st Dec. Maybe I should start a thread for more ideas……...

Did you have GCSE results today in the Cooking house ?

Christmas Bedding for your DS ( we put ours on 1st Dec for DH/myself and DS though his is turned to plain red until after his birthday. DD demands hers on Nov 1st Shock )

Christmas PJs in this house too (flannel plaid from Primark )

GCSEs went well - thank you - junior cooking is now on her way to Sixth form. I can now focus on the serious work of Christmas preparation Smile

123 - drawing into final third!

Hi everyone

I haven't been on this thread in ages! We have been moving so busy times. Last night I had an awful dream - it was Christmas Eve and I had no presents or food in, and I was attempting to get everything in my local tesco one hour before it closed!! So my subconscious is trying to tell me to start my Christmas planning.

I have made a start on dc's gifts, not much but I know roughly what they're getting. The most exciting thing about new house is that we now have a mantelpiece - I can't wait to decorate that!!

121 and 120 Is it wrong that when we were down I was mostly worried about the countdown not being done! Xmas Blush

I managed some sewing last night - I m making the fish for the Bride's box (12 specific tree decorations that each have a meaning) for my DSis and fiancé's Christmas present (will be married by then). DH had pooh-poohed the idea when I started, but said "that's quite nice looking" in a very surprised voice when he saw the work in progress last night.

And dusted blinds and furniture in the sitting room, cleared off the study table, finished tidying the guest bed, collapsed the second guest bed to make room in that room, dusted guest room blinds, so a few more items getting ticked off my lists.

We also looked at wardrobes over the weekend, and 13 years after moving in (and those being on the "priority list" of things to fix/replace THEN), we are getting them changed next month. So guest room and our room will both have a good excuse for a good cleaning job!! Grin ...I think

I totally missed the fact it was Rudolph Day yesterday! And it's only 4 months today until DD hits double digits - HOW has she grown up that much so fast??!!!

Today is a work day, but I might get a couple of small jobs done later this evening. But this morning's organizing time is being spent planning next week's dinner menus for first week back at school, internet grocery shopping for Friday night delivery, and trying to think of what else is needed for back to school.

Considering decorations and planning themes this morning, in the quiet dawn in the office before the flocks (of workers, not birds) arrive.

And panicking about back to school, and packing for wedding in Rome.....

Bought DH's Christmas Eve pj's this morning - well, found what I liked in M&S, had to order his size online, and it will be delivered to local store early next week to collect.

Off now for a wander at lunch, where I may look for a pair for me and some other necessities....

I've been AWOL (holidays not At Her Majestey's Pleasure)

Missed the QVC 25th day but I have a sneaky look on DHs phone and it was Christmas bags (shiney cellophane wrapping bags) so I'm okay.

Thinking now towards September, school, autumn, DH birthday then Hallowe'en.
Dr Who will start soon.
Costco will call to me ...... "Crackers. Wrapping Paper. Baubles. Ribbon"

Back to work on Tuesday

Definite autumnal feel in the air here too (Dublin). And the nights are drawing in fast.

I spent yesterday getting on with the outdoor cleaning - brushing the patio and side passage, cleaning all downstairs windows, emptying out all the pots that are finished and cutting back shrubs that need it.

I can't empty everything as the summer was so bad the veggies are very late growing. But I DO have Brussels sprouts coming along nicely, and I hope that some of those will be good for our Christmas dinner.

We had to finish getting DD's schoolbag ready (back to school tomorrow), and buy a few last bits. And, feeling virtuous, I cleaned the glass in the doors downstairs - they are 10 small panes per door (4 doors) and I HATE that job so it was a couple of years since I last did it Blush.

But the Holiday Grand Plan has been successfully commenced!!

Loki17 · 31/08/2015 09:17

I feel very Christmassy today. I think it is a combination of the crap weather and going back to work. I can't wait until the shops get the stuff in and I can go and have a mooch.

NeverNic · 31/08/2015 10:48

The weather is definitely making me feel more christmassy. Today I'm researching Christmas shows for ds. I can't wait until the food channels have their Christmas food weekend.

110 had to light the fire last night!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/09/2015 15:56

I woke up freezing the other night (which is a change, usually hot flushing Grin )

I saw some nice flannel sheets in Primark (tiny fir trees on a white background, more winter than strictly Christmas)

I'm thinking about lists now (and bought a notebook to jot things down) but won;t start serious buying till after Hallowe'en.

Who am I kidding, any time from mid September onwards Xmas Grin
