Brace yourselves and form an orderly queue.

XMas clock.com says 357 (plus 14 hours)

Happy New Year to one and all. Hope 2015 is a good one Smile

Rat, DH is supposed to be organizing them as a fortnightly thing, not just once off for Christmas. We are not terribly dirty, but are very busy. We used have these do fortnightly clean before we had au pairs, and the au pairs used to do some while they were here (not nearly enough childcare needed to fill their hours), but we've been without either since October last. And the house is starting to show the slight signs of neglect. I need another 40 hours in the week, at least, to do everything I am supposed to do and have a couple of hours relaxation for me.

Ho hum, today, I am writing lists, paying bills, finishing Father of the bride speech (for FIL), buying food, packing suitcases, cooking 2 dishes for 25 people each, packing the car, collecting DD from afterschool, feeding DD, wrapping presents, keeping DD calm, feeding me, getting DD to bed, not screeching at DH when he gets in late (public consultation night on a project - which means he misses a retirement do - although we were supposed to travel tonight so that's some relief!!). All before getting enough sleep to look radiant in the morning and get on the road by 9am!!

Oh, and I am currently at work and have to do a full day here before tackling all that. (And am ignoring the fact that my taxes are due in on Monday and I haven't got the forms finished yet!!).

into the one hundred and eighties Xmas Grin

wait till six months time and everyone will be panicing (is that a word? Panicking? Panicing? ) about "OMG it;s mid December and I've done mothing"

All the countdowners will be smug content in the knowledge that we are organised Xmas Wink , nods sagely.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/06/2015 00:17

mothing ? eh?
Should be "nothing"

I'll have no truck with moths.

OP posts:
Ratbagcatbag · 17/06/2015 12:18

I hate moths, they flutter

I think its panicking?!?!? its definately a word, I do it a lot Xmas Grin however I agree, it will be all done by then, wrapped, delivered, packed ready for Disney, sorted.

Not much done this week - panicking about camping this weekend first.

Although my planning last Christmas was appreciated - DSIL got married and we had a personalized tree decoration (shape of a wedding cake with their names and date of the wedding on it) as a token in the card (along with the piece of paper that was the "real" gift). SIL came over the next day to say she loved it! (Along with the engraved champagne glasses that we left in the back of their car for the journey to the hotel, and a half bottle to fill them).

Sales are starting though - so it's a good time to get going.....

BiddyPop · 18/06/2015 08:44

We also found moths Sad they'd chewed holes in the sleeve of DH's suit jacket - which was quite annoying but also kinda Grin when he found it right AFTER the wedding!! It means having to go through the wardrobe thoroughly at the weekend. Lucky DH!! (I am already gone camping by then Grin I just hope my back fares better than his!).

the Christmas Tree decoration idea is lovely Biddy , every year it is used is a memory Smile

My DC are teens, we have little decorations with their year (1999 and 2002) on them.
And every year we buy a new special decoration (as well as a box of Costco glass baubles because without fail, a couple yet broken every year )

BiddyPop · 19/06/2015 11:57

Sorry I just re-read yesterday's post. The decoration was made last Christmas but I only gave it to the B&G the day before the wedding with their card and cheque, and horseshoe. But yet - they'll have it for every year now.

I didn't bother packing any knitting or x-stitch in the end for camping this weekend. I am going to read, write letters, and chill, in any free time instead.

I WILL re-arrange the cleaners to come next week. And I WILL get to the sales.

And once the cleaners start their fortnightly miracle visits, I will have time at nights to get back to some Xstitch to make tree decorations for wider relatives presents this year.

Rat arriving home from Disney, on Christmas Eve, to a house already done up and ready for the celebrations, sounds magical!! Are you going to order dinner in (M&S or similar) or are you going to family for the day? DEFINITELY get a decoration in Disney, and get the year at least put on it! There are a few that they will personalize - we love our Dumbo with the year in his ear Xmas Grin

SideOrderofChips · 20/06/2015 19:33

The spreadsheet is on the go, eldest has already started her christmas list!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/06/2015 22:48

I'm still working through my DDs birthday list Grin , she's on the 25th so I know we're exactly half way then.

Today in John Lewis, there were some cake decorating kits for £1 (Bargain!) , I didn't buy one Sad there was a picture on the box of the sleigh and reindeer in the sky but I don't know if it was a cutter or stencil?

I always have great plans for my cake but it invariably ends up white with cut out stars Blush
