My DS (2.5) is telling anyone who asks that he would like 'socks' for Christmas this year. When I told my friend, she said that her child once answered her with 'Mummy, I'd reeeeeeally like my own packet of Blu Tack'.

Any other great 'modest' Xmas present requests?

Strange requests we've had from our dC in the past have been:

Blutac
Sellotape (bought some with a dispenser when DD was about 4 and she's still using it in her room 11 years later)
A comb
A caterpillar

Vijac · 25/11/2014 18:51

My son (3) has asked for a yoyo and chocolate and mr men books. He also said that his baby sister (3 days) would like a train set!

IsabellaofFrance · 25/11/2014 18:56

DS2 wants a blanket to add to his already quite extensive blanket collection. He has SN so he is difficult to buy for, so at least we get suggestions

DD would like some stick pencils that she saw back at the beginning of the year at a NT place, have got some. When I asked what else she would like she just shrugged and said 'paper?'

Girlwhowearsglasses · 25/11/2014 19:01

Grin Blu tack and plasters it is then!

Last year we were asked for a 'Titanic Gravy Boat' Hmm

MiddleAgeMiddleEngland · 25/11/2014 19:09

Some of these are lovely!!!

DD2 has always been easy to please. When she was about 4 she wanted a roll of sellotape, then another year it was her own post-its. She still has a bit of a stationery obsession.

High on her list this year (she's in her late teens) is a whole packet of sugar snap peas all to herself.

The only thing our neighbour's DD wanted when she was 11 or 12 was some yellow rubber gloves for cleaning out her rabbit's hutch.

DS1, now 9.5, so well beyond the cute phase is insistent that all he wants this year is a pair of socks. Not lots of socks, just one pair. He is not short of socks.

Previous requests have included ties. Not just elasticated ones, had to be proper knottable ties!

DS2 wants the entire toy shop. They couldn't be more different!

BaffledSomeMore · 25/11/2014 19:19

Dd has had sellotape and plain paper on every Xmas list for the last few years. She goes through miles of sellotape.

Ds wants a 'carrot picker' . Long story as to why he calls them that but he means one of those long grabbers that litter pickers use. He's 3.

Raaah I think I have seen mermaid tail costumes on notonthehighstreet.com

I know of a child who asked the grotto santa for some batteries to make his old toys work. It's all he wanted :)

owlandthehedgehog · 25/11/2014 19:39

Blueberries and a yogurt. Santa obliged Grin.

atticusclaw · 25/11/2014 19:41

Last year all DS1 wanted was a bottle of tesco lemon and lime flavoured water all to himself.

CosmicMouse · 25/11/2014 19:48

When I was a child I always used to love the ridiculously sweet glace cherries you get in a tub for baking. I used to pinch them from the tub in the cupboard when no one was looking. My parents clearly were looking as I began to always get a tub of my own in my stocking each Christmas! Bliss! I told DH this at some point and he now puts one in my stocking too! Takes me right back to childhood. It's the simple things.

Sidge · 25/11/2014 20:03

Cosmic I used to get a jar of silverskin pickled onions every Christmas!

nf1morethanjustlumpsandbumps · 25/11/2014 20:13

Oh I got pickled red cabbage Blush

DanceJunkie · 25/11/2014 22:18

DD2 (3) has asked for an empty yogurt pot and a toy toothbrush for her doll, not entirely sure what she wants the yogurt pot for but she's very excited about it Confused

WidowWadman · 25/11/2014 22:23

My daughter asked for a skateboard for her 6th birthday a few days before Christmas. She also askedasked Father Christmas to bring her a skateboard in case she doesn't get one for her birthday. Nothing else.

ArthurChristmas · 25/11/2014 22:24

My DD asked for a skipping rope and nothing else one year. The Santa in the Grotto burst into tears and then when she left the room told me he'd had 6 hours of kids asking for laptops and X boxes! I told him the year before she had asked for a single hair slide, " the other one can go to another little girl as I only need one" Smile if only Christmas this year was the same.........

WireCat · 25/11/2014 23:02

These are beautiful.

My son has SN and hasn't got a clue. He's 5. But I gave him the Argos book the other day. He's chosen a wobbly peppa pig car.

Not for Christmas, but a few years ago I asked my niece what she wanted for her birthday. "A clip board please auntie WireCat" I obliged. She also got some other bits but tbh she would have been happy with just the clip board

billiejeanbob · 25/11/2014 23:08

My dd age 8 has SN and so can't write her list independently yet. When I asked her what she would like for Christmas she replied 'a secret present that only santa knows about'!! eek!

thegreylady · 25/11/2014 23:16

Thanks I have ordered the almanac to go with the other book.

WireCat · 25/11/2014 23:18

Oh bless her billiejeanbob

Ds once asked for 'the moon with a face on' and dd last year asked for 'a bunch of bananas'

Dd this year has asked for a skipping rope, a purple toy car and a doc mcstuffins DVD. I made her add snow glow elsa Smile

Ds has asked for some match attax

Love them.

MeltedMoments · 25/11/2014 23:26

My 7 year old dd has asked Santa for the computer password...

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 25/11/2014 23:44

My 6yo Ds has asked for a Dream Catcher & a Rainbow - The Dream Catcher I can do but where the feck can I buy a Rainbow ?

Last year he wanted a blue unicorn & a purple babbit (purple version of his comforter) they only come in blue and pink and are very rare so I had to spend weeks finding one and then I dyed it

MrFeministLad · 26/11/2014 00:38

DD (3) has asked for a little washing machine and at least three beds to fit into her new wendy house, so that her friends can stay over Hmm
I've tried explaining that they may want to stay in the big house, but she's having none of it.

MrFeministLad · 26/11/2014 00:42

MyPanda how about a crystal to hang from his ceiling by the window to make a prism in his room for a rainbow? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LARGE-Hanging-Crystal-Glass-Teardrop-Suncatcher-Gift-Feng-Shui-Window-Hanger-/321054344548
