My DS (2.5) is telling anyone who asks that he would like 'socks' for Christmas this year. When I told my friend, she said that her child once answered her with 'Mummy, I'd reeeeeeally like my own packet of Blu Tack'.

Any other great 'modest' Xmas present requests?

A few years back ds memorably asked for a snail - probably because he had a distant memory of getting a soft toy one in his stocking the year before. Some sort of Christmas snail became a bit of a theme for several years Smile

mabelbabel · 25/11/2014 13:43

DD2 once asked for some vests for Christmas. This year, amongst other things, one DD has asked for a biro and the other for "a couple of pounds". Anyone would think they were deprived!!

PlumpingUpPartridge · 25/11/2014 13:45

DS1 wants a dolly house (after heavy seed-planting from mummy), a tiger and a toy lion. Note that he does not want a toy tiger.

iseenodust · 25/11/2014 13:45

DS was 7 when it was socks with stars on.

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 25/11/2014 13:47

I once bought DNiece a packet of pan scrubs (the kind where you get sponges in different colours with a green scratchy bit attached) for Christmas.

I bought her a toy as well, but she was about 2 or 3 and obsessed with playing with them at the time - just stacking them up like blocks or carrying them round in a 'handbag'. She was overjoyed to have a whole set to herself that no-one wanted to take off her to do the washing up with.

I would always be happy with a packet of florentines, Whether it's the cheap ones from Aldi or Lidl, or slightly more expensive but still less than a fiver from M&S, it doesn't matter. I'd trade all the boxes of quality street, candles and toiletry gift sets in the world for a packet of florentines - yum!

My youngest son always says "Just a nice little surprise," when anyone asks what he'd like. He's like Tiny Tim.

Kveta · 25/11/2014 13:53

5 yo DS, who has only slept through a few times in his life, and has never had an issue with waking up, has requested an alarm clock.

DD (2) wants 'Hello Kitty and a tiger'. Not toys though, real ones apparently.

Didactylos · 25/11/2014 13:58

DS is all materialistic this year, carefully crosschecked lists of lego (with the serial numbers)

but last year was great- a jelly flood, a volcano and a 'blue dog boy'
I had lots of fun making that happen

Legionofboom · 25/11/2014 14:00

Grin at what present do you want? "A red one."

Thurlow · 25/11/2014 14:03

But what if we get the wrong red one?!

youmakemydreams · 25/11/2014 14:10

Blu tac is always a huge hit in stockings.
This year ds2 (8) has asked for a packet of rolls. Just normal everyday bread rolls from morrisons so he can toast them.

PlumpingUpPartridge · 25/11/2014 14:13

Kveta we may need to exchange notes on poachers.

Mumto3dc · 25/11/2014 14:16

My ds asked for a tin of rice pudding one year, I think he was 3or 4!

Last year ds2 asked me to text Santa to ask for something, that really made me smile!

Raahh · 25/11/2014 14:17

DD1 has always asked for strange things though- masking tape was a big thing for a couple of years (she can do lots of damage things with masking tapeGrin). Hedgehogs also featured a lot- she had priced up one on an internet pet shop search. But 'would be ok with a Sylvanian families one' Grin

In fact, that was the year, everything else helpfully came with the Argos price neatly written underneath. Clearly Father Christmas shops at Argos- despite the fact I worked at John Lewis at the time.

DD2 (4) has asked for a mermaid tail. Just the tail. I'm assuming not a 'real' one as that is kind of gruesome. Maybe i could get her half a salmon?

EvenFlo · 25/11/2014 14:19

When I was growing up all I ever wanted for Christmas (and birthdays) was my own box of mr Kipling French fancies.

When I asked dd1(4) she said she didn't need presents as she got some last year Grin
Dd2(2) wants sunglasses!

Raahh · 25/11/2014 14:29

Does anyone remember Elizabeth Shaw mints ? Christmas was not Christmas without Elizabeth Shaw mints.

I think my mum still gets them- but i never seem to see them.

sliceofsoup · 25/11/2014 14:31

Last year DD1 asked for a yoyo and a fairy wand. How nice and cheap.

This year she has asked for a tablet.

So thats the end of that then. :o

123Jump · 25/11/2014 14:36

DS is 10yo and would like a crystal making kit, a special straw drinking thing and a glitter tube.
Grand total of about £30!!

DS 2 aged 7 has aced for one of these card holder!

groovejet · 25/11/2014 14:39

dd1 (10) has a few things on her list but her main present she has requested is jellybelly beanboozled, she wants us all to take turns so she can film us and upload to youtube. Not sure about the filming part but she will be getting it.

MarzipanThief · 25/11/2014 15:07

DD 4.7 wants a battenburg cake.

DS 3.6 has asked for a schleich elephant calf.

DS 2.5 wants a glittery bouncy ball and some jelly tots.

They all insist that's all they need/want.

FranksBobot · 25/11/2014 16:14

When dd was 3 she asked for an exercise mat. No idea why or even where she got the idea but 5 years later she still uses it most days! It's only a cheapy yoga type mat but she loves it.

GrouchyKiwi · 25/11/2014 16:17

My 2 year old wants us to buy her snow.
