My DS (2.5) is telling anyone who asks that he would like 'socks' for Christmas this year. When I told my friend, she said that her child once answered her with 'Mummy, I'd reeeeeeally like my own packet of Blu Tack'.

Any other great 'modest' Xmas present requests?

My son, about to turn 4, wants Batman for Christmas. Not sure where that comes in the modesty stakes, although it does guarantee that he's going to be a disappointed little boy in a month Grin

Letmesleep2 · 25/11/2014 16:22

DD, aged 4 asked for a satsuma and piece of coal. I think she must have picked it up from her GM when we were talking her childhood Xmas...

Allstoppedup · 25/11/2014 16:29

Aww Geeandtea that gave me a little lump in my throat.

My DS is turning one at Xmas but I can't wait to see his little crazy Christmas requests in years to come!

AmberNectarine · 25/11/2014 16:33

My DS (4) wants a mouse on wheels that sticks it's tongue out. When I asked him where he had seen such a thing he replied 'I saw it in a dream'. Handy.

AmberNectarine · 25/11/2014 16:36

And I apparently want to be able to use an apostrophe.

mellicauli · 25/11/2014 16:47

Last year DS (3) said he wanted sausage and cheese to put in the lunchbox nursery had given him.

kelliebrookexoxo · 25/11/2014 16:54

My mam told me that when I was about 4 she took me to the Santa's Grotto at our local shopping centre and when Santa asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I very innocently replied "Oh Santa! All I want is a colouring book please". I got given three of those naff pressies they give you in those places- a baby doll, a fluffy bunny, and a Barbie colouring book; as well as a big bag of sweeties. Result! My mother, meanwhile, got given a very foul look indeed! Hahaha!

Tykeisagirl · 25/11/2014 16:54

What is it with Blu Tack? I remember asking for, and getting it, for Christmas when I was little. It was in my stocking and I was delighted.

blibblibs · 25/11/2014 16:59

DS almost 7 has only asked for two things - I have one and the other I can't find for love nor money so if anyone knows where I can get a fully retractable green lightsaber I'd be very happy indeed, as would he Smile

DD5 on the other hand has a list as long as my arm!

thegreylady · 25/11/2014 17:09

Dgs 8 wants a book he saw in a shop in Spain which had every fact in the whole world in it. He can't remember the shop or the name of the book but expects Santa to 'write it all in English' for him. I have bought him a book called 'The World' as part of his present.

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 25/11/2014 17:22

The Grey Lady By the powers of google and a little knowledge of Spanish, could this book be the one your DGS saw?

Kids version

JugglingFromHereToThere · 25/11/2014 17:25

Sounds great thegreylady - wonder if he might enjoy The Guiness Book of Records too? That's what my ds is going to ask his DGP's for this year :-)

Sidge · 25/11/2014 17:32

I've got DD2 some plasters for her stocking!

She has SN and loves her medical box (she is fascinated by all things medical, hospital etc) so I've wrapped her some Tesco plasters (80p) to go in it.

She's easily pleased, my DD2 Grin

dreamcometrue · 25/11/2014 18:07

Two year old ds wants lemonade. Grin

Iloveadrianmole · 25/11/2014 18:20

My DS wants a plunger...........

MrsHathaway · 25/11/2014 18:32

My 6yo isn't allowed cola because of the caffeine. He recently discovered that caffeine-free Coke exists. Guess what he asked for, along with Ten Mars Bars?

Vickisuli · 25/11/2014 18:36

DD2 last year had a 'notebook' at the top of her Xmas list. When she went to visit Father Christmas at school they all got one of those tiny cheap party bag notebooks and a pencil as their present. She was probably the only child in the school who was genuinely thrilled. "He's already read my letter and knew I wanted a notebook!!!!"

Obviously she got a proper nice notebook in her stocking as well, we concluded that the little one was just a taster.

nameuschangeus · 25/11/2014 18:37

My DS wanted a pink lampshade one year. He was thrilled when he got it.

kyz1981 · 25/11/2014 18:39

My DD 5 has asked for her own set of plasters, I have found some with pretty pictures on but it did make me smile.

Vickisuli · 25/11/2014 18:40

Somewhere there's a video of my brother and I at Christmas opening our stockings sometime in the 80s, I must have been about 5. I pull out a package from the stocking and scream delightedly "Pants!"

Happy innocent times. Now I complain when DH buys me pants as they are always impractical ones.

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/11/2014 18:42

DS1 once asked my parents for a notebook. They though he wanted a computer and were relieved when I explained that he really just wanted something to write in.

All these lovely children and their funny requests! Reminds me of Billy's bucket, though that's about a birthday present.

Tykeisagirl · 25/11/2014 18:42

I just asked my DD what she wanted and all I got was "dunno". However she is sitting on the floor playing with, you guessed it, (my) Blu Tack, perhaps I should pop some in her stocking?

4yoniD · 25/11/2014 18:45

dd2 (3) wants Finish dishwashing powder and Ariel washing liquid :S Both after watching the adverts on TV. Even though all the other adverts are for toys.

Alizzle · 25/11/2014 18:45

Ds (2.4) has asked for a kiss for Christmas. Told him he can have as many of those he likes. Grin

vulgarwretch · 25/11/2014 18:46

Blu Tack is obviously very popular. Dd (aged 10) chose it for her getting-her-braces-off treat. I was prepared to be MUCH more generous! So I got her two packets.
