It just means you're efficient Plumping Grin
Mine is nice and simple -
DD 18 weeks - pink coupe walker
The night before Christmas book with cuddly reindeer
Christmas outfit (not bought yet as I suspect she may be up a size by then!)

I don't feel bad for not getting more, mostly because she'll have no idea whats going on, but also because we are lucky to have a massive family. It's my Dh who I normally can't stop buying wee things for!

glentherednosedbattleostrich · 25/11/2014 14:19

Plumping, at their age they'll play with the wrapping more than toys. When did was 2.5 we gave her a big box of wrapping off cuts with a couple of balls and balloons in it and some bubble wrap sheets from other deliveries. It cost about £2 to put together. We played with it for weeks. The box was a house, then a rocket, then a kennel etc. The paper was shredded the bubblewrap rolled on.

BEST CHRISTMAS EVER

This is all making me feel better, thanks vipers Grin

Of course love is the most important thing, but love and tinsel is just the BEST THING EVER.

PlumpingUpPartridge · 25/11/2014 14:27

Look at my list maki79, we're rather similar!

Leela5 · 25/11/2014 14:53

Plumping when I was little I remember best thing in the world was having a drink through a curly straw!!! I'd have been very happy to get that for Christmas.

I don't think anyone should think their children are any less loved with a smaller list. Children are individuals and you know your child.

My favourite present ever was a bag of horse story books. My mum had gone round all the charity shops buying their pony books. I remember lining them up and seeing which I had, then devouring them over the next month. There were tonnes!. Cost her about 10-20p each. I think you know your own kids and what makes them happy.

AlPacinosHooHaa · 25/11/2014 15:09

He will LOVE that, to that will do, to oh shit I forgot he likes them, to, this is something I WANT them to like, this is educational or this is CHEAP!

this is me too! I think most people buy like this.

My DM was never into present giving much she was so worn out with other things and I appreciated all I got.

I hope no parent reads lists and feels they are a bad parent because some lists will always be small to non existant and some beyond wildest dreams, if lists make you feel like a bad parent, read self help books not other peoples xmas lists. There are deeper issues going on.

Exaclty Mak, we used to go out a lot when I was little too, to theatre and stuff...the whole run up was lovely...I knew my DM loved me and made effort and DF would always give a book...or game.

MIl is very big on presents and I feel its more something to worship her for...her taking her time and her precious money to buy...a sort of wow...arnt I wonderful, look what I have got you, arnt I gracious...it all feels wrong.

irregularegular · 25/11/2014 15:50

DS11

Speakers/Amp/Docking station thingy to plug his MP3 player into
A Wii game, not sure which one
Match of the Day Mag subscription
Minecraft paper folding kit
Books: Skullduggery Pleasant x 2 (his choice), Letter for the King (my choice)

Plus SMALL stocking bits (whoopy cushion, socks, choc coins etc) and new pyjamas on Christmas Eve

DD12
Possibly a new phone, but her old one seems to have died so she may get this early
Fluffy rug for her room
Lush stuff
Djeco Abstract Art Kit
Books: One Dollar Horse X 2 (her choice), I Capture the Castle (my choice)
If she gets the phone in advance, then a fountain pen to make up the numbers.

Plus SMALL stocking bits (pens, tights, choc coins etc) and new pyjamas on Christmas Eve.

They will also get about 5 presents from my family (ILs are Dutch and don't do Xmas presents)

So not quite the huge piles that others get. In fact when they were smaller it was 3, then 4, now 5 from us. I think it is plenty. We could afford more but this feels like the right amount and mix of things to me.

irregularegular · 25/11/2014 15:51

And they have never come back from school in January saying that so-and-so got more/better presents.

MrsRaegan · 25/11/2014 16:15

I would NEVER judge someone over the amount of Christmas presents they give. By the same token though, I don't feel like I should be judged because I've bought quite a lot.

I love Christmas, I love to spoil people. It's just me and DS, I can afford it, so why not?

PlumpingUpPartridge · 25/11/2014 16:15

No no NO. I don't feel bad about my very short list, I feel bad about the lack of thought I've put into the whole thing! Everyone else seems to have carefully thought-out lists which indicate their level of care and devotion, whereas I've got "Dolly house. Ebay. Done."

I feel I'm not really emotionally invested enough in the whole thing Grin

lynniep · 25/11/2014 16:23

I'm cutting back this year and I don't feel bad at all, because when they get tons of stuff, it all gets forgotten about in 10 minutes. Plus its DS2s birthday in November so he already got a load of stuff.

I'm sure I've got stuff I've forgotten about, but so far
