I have just noticed no-one else does the x on here so gives a monkeys chuff, I'm not hurting anyone, its habit as my dad still texts me with a X.

Knitted I was thinking the same, people may just pass out when they cant even stand an X in a post :-/ x

Christmas is but one day a year. Its not going to spoil them having lots of gifts. We also do gifts to charity etc and my sons favourite part of xmas is picking out presents for his Mummy and Daddy.

fairgame · 08/11/2014 22:43

I wasn't throwing stones knitted. I clearly stated that i wasn't slating laura i was just shocked at the size of the pile. My pile is nowhere near that big. There is no need to be defensive, it was a geniune question as to whether the kids play with all of the toys because DS doesn't which is why i have cut down.

Sallystyle · 08/11/2014 22:43

Of course you wouldn't have been happy to see them go further into debt, and you obviously knew that they were in debt and what that meant.

I can't imagine say a 6 year old understanding that so much.

TSSDNCOP · 08/11/2014 22:43

I agree with a PP, the thread title doesn't actually describe what it's about. Is THEEE is a thing and I've just never heard of it.

I genuinely don't care what other people buy their kids, but in my life I've never met anyone that arranges everything they have bought and photographs it to post on the Internet. So once again this strange thread MN has taught me something new.

HonoraryOctonaut · 08/11/2014 22:44

Laura - my DS(3) likes the imaginext stuff (he has 3 batman cave thingys), what looks good out of the pile you have? It's hard to tell when you're looking at them online.

Oh and I wouldn't worry about putting a kiss on the end of your messages or posting your photos, you don't need to explain yourself, I find it a welcome change to the constant nit picking, bitchy, swearing posts. It's the beauty of MN, I don't read the threads that I don't like and no one is forced to read threads they don't want too. It's a little bit pathetic to pull people up on the use of 'x' or 'Hun'. It's a big site, there's room for everyone.

IgnoreMeEveryOtherFuckerDoes · 08/11/2014 22:44

no laura the x doesn't tend to go down well here, but am guilty of doing it when I first came here but they do love Flowers and Cake

sweetsomethings · 08/11/2014 22:46

TSSDNCOP you need to go look at more threads on this message board if you think this is a strange thread.

Sallystyle · 08/11/2014 22:47

Yeah, my presents are all shoved under my bed until it is time to wrap them.

I agree that one day isn't going to spoil them, mine don't go without at xmas, but I never wanted to buy them tonnes when it is something I don't think I could always keep up, especially as they grow older and feeding them costs double and money can often get tighter. But that's just me. It was not a habit I wanted to get into.

madsadbad · 08/11/2014 22:49

I don't really get the venom shown sometimes towards people who go against the "norm", I don't "X" posts or even texts except my husbands, so freaking what if someone chooses to?
If we were talking to a child/family/friend we would be saying to be yourself as long as this is not harming another, yet on here some people feel the need to jump on others for deviating from the "forum norm".

IgnoreMeEveryOtherFuckerDoes · 08/11/2014 22:49

again you sure about that U2 my 17year old DD might tell you different as she has seen our circumstances change fair few times over the years she might even throw in the sob story that she be 18 before she first gets to go on plane for her first holiday abroad unlike her cousins who been doing it since they were babies

KnittedJimmyChoos · 08/11/2014 22:49

My pile is nowhere near that big.

Oh I see so you have cut down the size of the pile but upped the value of the gifts?

TSSDNCOP · 08/11/2014 22:49

Thank you sweet but having been here 5 years I'm familiar with the format Wink. In keeping with the theme, MN really is the gift that keeps on giving.

U2TheEdge Sat 08-Nov-14 22:43:23

My daughter had mostly free, she didnt know that because children dont know these things and next door that year had a huge amount.

I didnt see the dc round each others houses actually calculating costs and prices and amounts.

I think children take leads from parents.

lauraR1989 · 08/11/2014 22:52

TSSDNCOP I have always taken stash pictures since having my 2nd child so that I could see if the bundles were roughly the same size and to remind myself that I hadn't gone overboard...I have slightly this year, but wasnt expecting to be hospitalised with my 2 year old twice in 3 weeks (not that they would notice), I then found the Christmas pictures forum....I appreciate it isn't for everyone x

Hi HonoraryOctonaut, I have brought 2 different batcaves, and have brought the gotam city (lovely size) and a couple of vehicles. We also own the Mr freeze (which I didn't rate) an the jail which is fantastic, all of the vehicles are great too.

Thank you, i really dont see why people have to be like this x

Ignore I did start to wonder when I noticed no-one else doing it, but its an internet forum and I refuse to change....especially for bullies x

Mintyy · 08/11/2014 22:53

Yes, that's my point TSSDNCP.

I could never imagine that this would be a "thing". It is honestly beyond my imagination and I stumbled on the thread by accident.

If its a thing on Netmums, why is it over here?

No one has ever taken a photo of their child's Christmas presents and posted it on my facebook either. Perhaps I live in a parallel universe.

lauraR1989 · 08/11/2014 22:55

madsadbad, it obviously is because I'm going against the 'norm', I don't know the websites 'rules', didn't get a chance to read them, as I said, only joined to defend myself against the vile comments I was getting after running back from viewing our thread x

nic013 · 08/11/2014 22:56

This one's nearly finished. Just need to finish the jumper

Sallystyle · 08/11/2014 22:57

My children don't know how much I spend, but I think they would notice going from 100 presents down to 5. They wouldn't moan but yeah, I think they would be a bit disappointed to have such a drastic drop in presents.

Obviously if they are older and can understand more it is different.

But maybe I am wrong. I am often wrong Grin

lauraR1989 · 08/11/2014 22:57

so because something is on NM it cant be over here Hmm

KnittedJimmyChoos · 08/11/2014 22:58

ignore

you sure about that U2 because I was that child, one year my mum could only make us something and it was well appreciated and treasured but I was heartbroken when I found her upstairs sobbing her heart out about it,
Thats so sad!

lauraR1989 · 08/11/2014 22:58

nic103 have you thought about craft fairs? You are talented x

sweetsomethings · 08/11/2014 22:58

Mintyy cause people can use both of the sites.

flame34 · 08/11/2014 22:59

my kids have 160 gifts between them and you know what i couldnt care less what others think and neither does my other friend who buys 3 gifts max for hers or the other friends who spend 5k every year. what does it matter how big a gift size is as its like the men out with the rulers comparing penis size, guess this is the female version of that ;-)
