Those of you whose DCs are into Minecraft - do you have any decent related non-virtual gifts?

The DCs have been introduced to Minecraft this half-term by a cousin and it has fast become a favourite. I was looking around for some related bits and pieces I could get them for Christmas and some of the things on Amazon for instance look like very hastily put together rubbish to capitalise on the market. Some of the books have terrible reviews. Have seen there are some lego sets. Any suggestions for anything else please?

The lego sets look amazing, they've just bought out some more. You can get various plushes and t shirts. The box of papercraft is excellent, kept dd quiet for ages.

I've bought ds a minecraft hoody from Tescos. I've also looked at the lego but not bought any, it seems quite pricey for what it is but I know ds would love it.

There are also minecraft soft toys if you think they would be appreciated. DS loved getting a minecraft pig for his birthday a few months ago.

Snog · 02/11/2014 20:53

I saw a cool minecraft beanie hat

ignominious · 02/11/2014 20:57

The creeper hoody is cool.

The lego sets are cool but expensive.

LeBearPolar · 02/11/2014 20:58

DS loves his Minecraft t-shirts. The Lego is really expensive for what you get.

ignominious · 02/11/2014 21:00

Somewhere is doing the lego on 3 for 2 from Wednesday , maybe Argos?

awfulomission · 02/11/2014 21:02

I second that the LEGO looks great. We were in the store at the weekend.

The assistant was funny. She more or less said that the only special bits were the figures-the rest was easily buildable from normal blocks.

We'll be getting it anyway tho for our two!

DustBunnyFarmer · 02/11/2014 21:02

Sainsburys Tu has Minecraft creeper beanie hats in the boys' section £8 each. Bought a couple today for my boys' stockings.

Pippidoeswhatshewants · 02/11/2014 21:02

I had a photobox voucher about to expire, so I ordered a minecraft mug for ds (photo mug with pic off the internet).

awfulomission · 02/11/2014 21:03

Ooh, 3 for 2? Will get on to that right away!

Poppiesway · 02/11/2014 21:03

I've brought some minecraft lego for ds2 in the sale at asda this week.. Some is reduced in their half price sale

DustBunnyFarmer · 02/11/2014 21:04

Lego will be bringing out standard size Lego Minecraft kits soon, so DH tells me. It will be interchangeable with the normal stuff.

OpiesOldLady · 02/11/2014 21:06

My ten year old is a huge minecraft fan. This was his birthday present!

For Christmas I shall be getting him this

My DS loves the little plastic figures. He got one in May for his birthday and has been hankering after more since then.
MIL is buying him a pile of them for him.
I'll prob get a few more.

I've looked at the Lego before but thought it was overpriced. He'd just like the mini-figures to add to his other lego i think.

The hats sound cool though, Sainsburys was it?

DustBunnyFarmer · 02/11/2014 21:14

Yup, Sainsburys. I reckon they'll go fast though.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 02/11/2014 21:18

We got the cardboard Steve head for DD1 for Halloween and it was expensive but sturdy. The foam diamond swords same thing.

There is a night-light style light of dark matter or something which is pretty cool too.

TrousersSchmowsers · 02/11/2014 21:18

Another vote for the papercraft, someone bought us some last Xmas and my eldest is still getting it out to play with/display.

Books are a bit rubbish I think, don't contain anything you can't find on their wiki. Encourages reading though I suppose!

squiggleirl · 02/11/2014 21:27

DS loves Minecraft. He got these books, and finds them really good for when he's playing the games.

Also got him a t-shirt in M&S. They had a couple of choices, and all were decent quality.

lucysmam · 02/11/2014 22:57

sorry just placemarking to read in the morning, am just off to bed Smile

TurboTheChicken · 02/11/2014 23:16

I got DS a Minecraft hoody from M&Co, if you have a Loyalty Card with them there is 25% at the moment.

Asda also has little tiny figures for around £3, I got a couple for DS stocking - they were in the pocket money toys section and went VERY quickly.

I've also bought the cheapest of the Lego sets from Amazon.

TurboTheChicken · 02/11/2014 23:17

My DS loves the guide books - he is only five so I have to read them to him as a bedtime story. Can you feel my pain?!
