Those of you whose DCs are into Minecraft - do you have any decent related non-virtual gifts?

The DCs have been introduced to Minecraft this half-term by a cousin and it has fast become a favourite. I was looking around for some related bits and pieces I could get them for Christmas and some of the things on Amazon for instance look like very hastily put together rubbish to capitalise on the market. Some of the books have terrible reviews. Have seen there are some lego sets. Any suggestions for anything else please?

Turbo that's so sweet. I can't wait to read minecraft instead of flipping Spot.

TurboTheChicken · 03/11/2014 07:24

Ignominious You say that but wait until you are reading a two page description about crafting a diamond sword, an iron sword, a stone sword and the combat properties of each.

Seriously you'll be begging for Spot.

Some nice minecraft t shirts in george

JKSLtd · 03/11/2014 10:26

I picked up one of those mini boxes in asda today. Want to have a sneak peak so will open it later.

And have to laugh at reading the books, luckily DS can read himself but sometimes he asks me to read a bit. Not my favourite books at all!

Liking the M&S tshirts think I might get a couple. Anyone seen any long sleeve ones though?

BertieBotts · 03/11/2014 10:39

The papercraft looks pointless to me, it would last about five seconds with DS before he squashed it or rolled it in something greasy and/or sticky.

EnterNicknameHere · 03/11/2014 12:30

Next have a long sleeved minecraft t-shirt. DS will be getting one for christmas.

lornathewizzard · 03/11/2014 14:16

The lamp/light is on firebox.com if that helps :)

Picturesinthefirelight · 03/11/2014 14:25

Ds is 10

He loves his tshirts & hoody) sainsburys) & his soft toys. He also loves the Mibecraft books set.

He doesn't play with the Lego or the paper craft but he wants a foam sword.

He is going to love his stampycat t shirt & bag I've bought for Christmas.

Guitargirl · 03/11/2014 16:48

Thanks all, I will have a rummage in Asda and sainsburys.

The creeper hoodie pictured above is also in Argos for £24.99 and it's was much better quality than I expected. It £35-50 on Amazon and EBay.

Have seen some vinyl wall art that looks brilliant but my son cant have anything remotely stimulating on his walls as his room is she chill out / sleep place so not sure how good it is in real life.

starlight1234 · 03/11/2014 17:04

I ordered a foam sword thing and keycahin off ebay... Both are coming from China so won't be here for a few weeks but far less than in the shops

JKSLtd · 03/11/2014 17:12

Thanks Enter I'll have a look.

Guitargirl · 03/11/2014 17:19

Dayshiftdoris - where did you see the wall art please?

Ebay and Amazon

This is my favourite but it's expensive

Guitargirl · 03/11/2014 18:16

Thanks, yes, I see what you mean about the price, looks great though!

Matalan have a long sleeved T-shirt, bought one today for £9

ipanicked · 03/11/2014 22:29

turbo I feel your pain too!! I wish my 5yo would learn to read too but he does LOVE that minecraft handbook series. I got the next handbook, the foam sword and cuddly creeper for Xmas.

For anyone after free minecraft papercraft, check out pixel paper craft where you can print out just about any minecraft papercraft character for free, including backgrounds. It's way too fiddly for a 5yo but he loves 'helping' Hmm

AcheyJakey · 03/11/2014 22:36

Minecraft tshirts are quite fun!

MonoNoAware · 03/11/2014 23:52

I can highly recommend Kim's Stitching Creations for custom Minecraft plush toys. They're not cheap at around £37 each, but she can make them in your child's 'skin' (or the skin of Minecraft YouTubers, etc). You can choose how realistic vs pixel-perfect you want them.

Another not-cheap custom buy is ender toys. From $10 plus postage you can have your choice of 'skin' made into a 4" plastic action figure. I've just ordered 2 of the V2 ones (with moving legs) and paid nearly £23 Shock]. They will be very loved though I bloody hope and will go with the figures and animals he already has.

Finally, and this is a genius idea if I say so myself, I bought a cheap generic 'guess who' game and am printing out pictures of minecraft mobs and YouTubers to replace the standard pictures with.
